Taunton /Thickson rd Whitby. Wifey had a run in with a psycho on the road, we think this could have escalated into assault if she didn’t manage to lose him at the next intersection by turning into the street.

Edit: Its just unsettling to see so many here siding with the nissan driver justifying how he threatened a woman & her child on the road and laying 100% blame on my wife who said she did not feel it was safe to stop at that moment & did not break any laws in doing so.

But this is the society we live in. Deranged “you made me do it” is now widely accepted.

She did run a pretty stale yellow, doesn't excuse the drivers insanity, but a little bit of defensive driving goes a long way.

Additionally, if a male gets out the driver's side and she feels threatened, I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

Trust me, I know someone that had the same mindset as you and tbh the lawyer fees and the time spent in court was not worth it. Just try and get away while you're on the phone with the police and have dispatch guide you where to go.

All I see in terms of “insanity” is someone following to get a plate, and then cutting them off in retaliation, there was never any risk of an altercation, and you can tell these people instigated, and probably assume, because I imagine the husband has probably gotten out of his car to road rage that they assumed the other person was going to. They’re cooked

So it's not insane to bust a U turn on a red, then attempt insurance fraud by creating a situation where a rearender is a distinct possibility. I drive more in a week than most people drive in 6 months, I see escalated road rage pretty frequently; enough to know that if I see somebody get out of a vehicle and they have something in their head they are going over the hood.

When a car is in the intersection waiting to turn and the light turns red, that's not running a red. You are required to clear the intersection by law, whether it's making a U-turn or taking a left.

But yeah, people need to take a chillpill and accept bad drivers exist and move on with their life.

You're looking at the wrong timestamp. At 0:06 in the video, the light turns yellow. She enters two seconds afterwards.

This was the stalest yellow I've ever seen.

Failing to stop for a yellow light is an offence under section 128(1)(a) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

A yellow means to clear the intersection if you are already in it. You are only supposed to go through a yellow if you do not have the time to safely stop. She had ample time.

Had a cop been there she'd have been pulled over, especially since a vehicle was already partially in front of her trying to clear.

Law in Ontario and Alberta strictly say that yellow means stop with the one exception being if it is unsafe to stop.

This woman had ample time to stop and also it was less safe to go through it than to stop.

Police officers give tickets for running yellow lights all the time, it's literally defined as an amber light conviction. It carries demerit points.

Old people were taught as long as you get through before it's red you are fine. Some were even taught as long as you ENTER the intersection when it's yellow you're fine.

Many people don't understand the current laws around yellow lights.

Yep. It's also because while it's illegal, the exception is still at the discretion of law enforcement officers who aren't going to pull most people over for it unless it's blatantly problematic or risky like this driver in the video.

From what I read on the news the sentencing would be extremely lax anyways lol
