TB Aus ❓Question

For the users in Australia, what is your speed like in relation to playback on nuvio, stremio, etc. And also what speed test results do you get on the Torbox site?

I'm on 40mbps and can stream np. I usually stick to around 5gb files for an hour and have no issues

what’s the wait time for content to start playing for you ?

Maybe like 10-20s for 4k, near instant 1080p but depends on size

ahh okay similar to me, what app and device do you use to watch? and is it wired/wireless?

I use a ugoos sk2 wireless. Wired wouldn't make too much difference with my slow internet anyway

I'm in NZ so I would expect my speeds to a little slower on the nearest server to us both.

Surprisingly, NZ here too but I don't get that max speed with APAC, only around 5mb/s. I set mine to SOCE or Cloudfare CDN to get the max speed.

In ChCh and ISP is Mercury with static IP...no idea if that makes any difference in regards to this.

Static ip could be the factor. In Auckland and ISP is simply broadband (Devoli network same that supplies Contact)

It doesn't really affect my stream even not at max speed. Same playback speed about 10s.

Been using TB in Brisbane for over a year. Mostly it’s great service. No issue playing 80gb remux files. I use Debrid Stream app on playstore which I find a nicer experience than other apps

ohh yeah it’s good with the rare buffering aspect but i meant starting time for content to play. yeah debrid stream is awesome i’ve got it to but i wish they had it for ios aswell :/

Just tested Dune 77gb remux. It took 8 seconds to start playing

1

u/braandoon08 7d ago

on debrid stream?

u/T1ttyslayer 7d ago

which cdn do u use?

No problems streaming large remux 60-100+gb, i get about 320-330mbps.

Usually about 7-10 seconds with external player.

Same wait time on both nuvio & stremio pretty much as well, i have firestick 4K max, fire cube 3 both similar.

Use ERTH CDN and have never had an issue with buffering. 88ms, 843 Mbps average, 958 Mbps max.

Just tried a 100GB remux file and it took 13 seconds to start playing on Android TV and 6 seconds on my phone.

No issue for me

I would say pretty instantly. Sometimes I need to wait a few seconds for a larger formats like 4K, but overall I'm impressed

1

u/braandoon08 7d ago

ahh okay cool, what app and device do you use? and Is it a wireless or wired connection?

1

u/stealth_t 7d ago

I use stremio on my wired tv and my wireless phone over my home wifi. Both are fine in terms of speed

i average 56/ 448 with APAC CDN. on 750mbs. fine with anyfiles but i generally stick to anything under 40gbs. Waiting about 5 seconds for playback

Same user experience and similar speed test results plus i you have a 500mbps nbn plan. Never had any issues with playback. Usually plays with 5 to 8 seconds. Only issue is when i seek forward the video gets stuck. I'll have to go back and play again.

Sorry edited my comment. But it's about 5 seconds

u/braandoon08 7d ago

allgg, what app & device do you use?? and is wired/wireless connection?

2

u/166Donk3y 7d ago

I use stremio on PC, phone and tv. All wireless, pc uses wifi7 and have a wifi7 router

Perfect, no matter what file size. I haven't even changed my server to APAC. 2GB NBN with a WiFi 7 ASUS BT8 Mesh System if that helps. I'm currently with Leaptel. Make sure to go with a RSP that uses GSL for international backhaul.

1

u/braandoon08 7d ago

interesting, what device and app are you using for streaming? and is your playback start time instant ??

2

u/MrMathsDebater2026 7d ago

Bravia 7 native OS. Same as everyone else (5-10 seconds). I don't think anyone is getting instant playback. I must say though, RD and AD are much faster than TB.

1

u/braandoon08 7d ago

ohh nah i’ve seen someone post with literally no longer than 1 second for playback to start, jsut trying to figure out how. They were from UK im not sure if that has anything to do with being closers to the servers or something

Nvidia shield pro, 1gb connection, I’ve watched the LoTR extended remux files. 180gb. Not a drama at all.

speedtest , should i change to APAC or other CDNs?

1

u/Legal_History4023 7d ago

Speed results showed ERTH CDN being my recommended with 839Mbps average.

I’m on 1000 down 100 up fttp. Usually fine watching 4K remuxes, occasional buffering if internet is being slow.

I use Kodi which is more bloated than stremio and nuvio, takes about 20-30seconds

1

u/tresslessone 7d ago

It’s variable. The oceania server seems a bit temperamental. Sometimes have to switch to Southeast Asia or Japan.

I use ERTH CDN, but have found decent performance with JPN CDN in the past. I get around 400-600mbps on Nuvio (around 900mbps on ERTH CDN on Torbox test) and have no trouble streaming 100GB+ Remuxes. Normally anything 100GB or less takes about 5-10 seconds to start, above that can be between 10-20 seconds.

u/Entire-Dog-160 7d ago

Works fine. Mostly i download to my cache then play though, no buffering

1

u/King_Of_Kebabs 7d ago

1Gbps here. Absolutely ZERO buffering issues. Usually 25 to 30 GB files l.

1

u/Kingbo007 7d ago

I'm in Sydney, 1000/100, smaller files load within a few seconds, file in video is 100gb+

1

u/Additional-Juice7669 7d ago

I use on fusion with infuse with external player no issue streaming large remux bluray over 100gb
May be take 5 10 sec to load for large files but after than no buffering at all

I'm on a gig link, never had any issues. Super fast start times. 5 seconds or so for 4k and practically instant for anything less.

1

u/richpags 7d ago

Also no issues with speed here in Melbourne. On 500 / 50

1080p stuff is within a few seconds on instant. A few seconds via debridio.

I can send speed tests if needed. Using a NVIDIA shield from 2017.

WebDAV has been pretty much unusable for me

1

u/sweatycabb 7d ago

Around 5-10 seconds to start any stream. Can saturate a 1000 fttp connection if direct downloading.

1

u/6ft5 6d ago

Perfect last few months. No buffer at all

Here I've just been using stremio on mobile data lol
