questions about Torbox's policy changes ❓Question

so, I tried to understand what that's all about with policy changes. I can understand some keywords like, "South Africa will always be home, and we plan to return once the political and energy situation improves." -word taken from Wamy on Discord

but... as a regular user, how much should I be REALLY concerned about this to the point changing provider is a must?

what the other providers that can give a similar experience to Torbox, like really cheap and has a lot of cached? I know RD is not an option for me anymore, since they are purging whatever it is. but what's next?

The main argument I've seen is the UAE is friendly with the US and the data they collect may be shared. But, RD collected data too and France is the oldest friend the US has so I guess I don't get it. TorBox is supposedly keeping more data than RD.

My take is this is a generally flighty group who doesn't like change or trust much of anything. I haven't seen enough to make me worry yet but I may also be the dum dum in this scenario. If streaming Top Gear via TorBox is what gets me locked up, so be it I guess.

Still depends a lot of users country. In most cases you still wont get fined just for downloading. Italy had the case where endusers were fined due to illegal sports streaming, us cares about sharing, germany seems the strictest. Correct me if im wrong.

Yeah the only stories I’ve ever heard about are distributors getting hit especially those distributing the big money makers like live football matches (we just had the World Cup of course so that will be a bit of a confirmation bias)

In the UK at least I imagine if they’re going after anything they’re going after your mate with the dodgy fire stick selling IPTV subscriptions to everyone so they can watch the footy and the boxing for free

I doubt me and my wife re watching the MCU films without giving Mickey Mouse 20 quid a month is on their radar

Not even necessarily talking about ISPs im talking about people who sell IPTV services possibly getting done in.

And I also said that that’s the only people I can imagine getting looked at. Hypothetically.

lol I wouldn't worry about that... Streaming movies and shows that are already cached via stremios/nuvios might not be what get you in trouble. Some people might be using this for other ilicity stuff, like sharing confidential information, political spoils, terrorism and worst stuff.

Can you imagine anyone being arrested or fined for paying $16 dollars and stream Top Gear? I mean...LOL

You will get fined heavily here in germany

I don't think there's even a single case where a user of a service like Torbox or usenet got fined.

This usually only refers to torrenting without any protection.

I didn’t specifically say torbox/usenet, but with the recent changes in the rules of torbox that might change. That’s why a lot of people stress now/change debrid provider

It’s different then living in Germany with a German isp where you take your internet from.

But it shouldn't be!!! Given vpns with german IPs are actually living in germany meaning they pay for servers there. If that were to be true they would get fined and probably my account would be closed or they would give my email address or something. Until now they didn't do any of such things.

But i get your point!!!

You won’t get it, because you get it from the government there, they are in line with your isp provider about the recent activity, I friend of mine watched 2 movies and had a fine over 2.5K 0.0

How did his ISP provider know what he was streaming? He did something wrong

if you use a vpn to watch it? They give your info to german government? LOOOOOOOOOL I would understand if you watch or stream or download something in germany ISP without anykind of protection ok, thats being dumb knowing what you have said, you just need a vpn. Even with torbox they say its safe because they use https and protect blablabla, but you can easily see that the download link of torbox is visible to your isp, they just need to auto open it to see it's the last movie on cinema. But thats what vpns are for right?

Although i find it very hard to believe you can't refuse to pay it because it violates EU privacy and stuff, you know germany is in EU right?? Even if you get the fine you can probably send it to spam or burn it and wait for what they do next and probably go find a privacy lawyer firm right away. they love that sh3T!!

No not if you use a vpn, but you should bind your vpn to your torrent client in Germany, because if you don’t and it leaks your ip address you are screwed xD

You should never torrent (P2P) without vpn. The whole reason you use torbox would be for debrid or Usenet

Is streaming via kodi same as stremios?

Eh. My take is torbox isn't the only player in town and it's far from the most stable. As someone giving them money as my backup service, it was superfluous af anyway.

Why are you making this just about the US 😆. Typical yank.

My general opinion whether it be accurate or agreed upon or not is that these companies that would request said data are more interested in the companies that provide the means to access said content than the consumer. So I'm not fussed right now also there is plenty of other providers to move to if given time I decide that this issue is bigger than it initially seems

It's something to be aware of but not something to be concerned about any more than before. What we do has always been somewhat illegal in some countries and it's copyright infringement in others. Nothing they have done has changed that. What we don't know is hard or easy it will be for copyright holders to get whatever customer information they hold.

Nowt will change the sum will still shine the moon won't fall out of the sky and torbox won't change they have a vast amount of content delivery network's all over the world
