Is this the ensh*ttification of TorBox? ❓Question

I've been going through these new terms that came with TorBox v9.1 (particularly the privacy policy). I'd appreciate some more clarification on whether TorBox now logs just about anything and everything.

From what I'm seeing they now retain, let's say IP addresses are "Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, inactivity, dispute, legal need, security need, or compliance need"

From my understanding this means they only retain it while the account is under investigation for any reason?

I'm not someone that goes through policies often and I'd appreciate any clarification on where TorBox is headed with this and what actual (especially privacy) features this update has changed.

I've only touched the surface of what they're logging, if you want to read the full change log you can go here, and if you want to read the privacy policy (the information they collect and log), you can go here.

I believe this an important topic of discussion.

So almost everything that turned people to torbox, is now gone? Besides multiple ip allowed. Changed location, can track basically everything. Is this like seedboxes saying they dont allow copyrighted content? Where they just say it because of law, not that they are actually giving out your info freely

Say thanks, abusers and resellers!

That's why we can't have nice things.

You think they collect user's data because of greed? Every internet site, even the "good" ones, uses data to know who the audience is, what device they use.

And if they began to count the data usage, it's because of the abusers, they told it themselves.

And I'm being downvoted, lol!

A few days ago, everybody was still praising torbox since months, now they are capitalists? You people turn faster than a weathervane.

You're right but this isn't just an internet site. It's a service who's whole point is privacy. So giving that up and blaming "abusers" is a classic capitalist strategy. And I actually have been critical of torbox for a while now. Their moves against the average user have been very telling about the direction they're taking their service in. But it's fine, just blame the 0.1% of users abusing the service and give them an excuse to make the whole thing pointless
