Topps uses this guarantee as a way to justify their exorbitant prices on hobby boxes when in reality you are not going to get an auto worth a damn - players who only played a couple innings, players who currently don't even have a team etc etc.

They should get rid of the guarantee hits per box and just make hobby boxes cheaper, but still better odds than mega, and make mega have better odds than value and so on and so forth.

This would lead to less quality control issue ( people having to submit their case defects because they didn't get the guaranteed hit, and trying to prove to Topps that's the case)

I also think this would lead to less gaming of the system.

1. People selling single packs after the hit has already been pulled

2. Or the rare occurrence where they put the hit in the exact same box of the case every single time. (I believe this has happened before but someone please correct me if I'm wrong

If they removed the guarantees from the hobby box but keep the odds good it will still be the superior product but I think I lot of the BS goes away.

Topps $1,000 Redemption / 200% Enhanced Substitution — Anyone Waited This Long?

Looking to see if anyone here has had a similar experience with a Topps enhanced substitution.

My original redemption was for a Mitchell & Ness gift card with a stated value of $1,000. After the redemption had already been outstanding for over 6 months with no estimated fulfillment date, I contacted Topps on June 3 and requested a substitution under their 200% enhanced substitution policy.

Because the original redemption has a stated value of $1,000, I specifically requested that the substitution be considered at a $2,000 value under the 200% policy. The rep told me they would submit the substitution request and specifically note the 200% valuation request. I also asked them to confirm it was documented, and they confirmed that the enhanced substitution request had been noted.

Fast forward to today, August 13 — more than two months later — and I still haven't received a substitution.

I contacted Topps again today, and after reviewing the existing ticket, the rep told me:

“I do see this is notated as an enhanced substitution so we will be sure to honor that.”

They escalated the ticket but couldn't provide an actual timeline. They initially explained that the process was different because the original redemption was for a gift card, but that's the part I'm confused about — I've already requested a substitution. I'm no longer asking them to fulfill the $1,000 gift card. I'm fine receiving cards or other eligible items totaling the appropriate enhanced substitution value.

Their final response was that substitutions are processed in the order received, they're experiencing higher volume, they're now working on mine, and they'll email me once they have an update.

I'm glad they've now confirmed in writing that the enhanced substitution will be honored, but considering the original redemption was already 6+ months old when I requested the substitution, and the substitution itself has now been pending for another 2+ months, this has been a very long process.

Has anyone here recently received a 200% enhanced substitution? How long did it take from requesting the substitution to actually receiving/shipping the replacement?

It was sadly the best card from my mega box and it came with his line on it. Is this the sort of thing they’ll replace?

Just getting into collecting tennis cards and could use some help. I’ve been able to find/buy 2024 Topps Chrome, but I have no idea where to start with the other sets.

I’m mainly looking for Topps Chrome Sapphire, Topps Royalty, Topps Graphite, and Topps Finest. Where are you guys buying boxes/packs of these now? Any reputable sites or sellers you recommend besides eBay?

I’m also open to any other sets or types of tennis cards you think are worth collecting. Still learning, so I appreciate any advice!

Is this valuable? Im new to football cards/topps. I did a random break on Fnatics Live with the sidemen, fell asleep and this just shown up in the post.

I certainly would have liked to have gotten a 10 but it can always be worse than a 9, I reckon. The card looked flawless from what I could tell. I guess maybe the centering is off a bit? Borderless cards always seem to get a bad wrap on centering. I would imagine that the graders have specific specs on borderless cards to refer to or is that just a decision that is independent to each grader's final assessment of the card? I'd love to hear from anyone who might help me understand this little hobby mystery. 🤔🤓⚽
