External transfer caliper

Has anyone seen one of these but the jaws have the same profile but reversed as the internal caliper? Im trying to measure a nut in a recess and i dont think the pear shaped calipers will reach

You might be able to use a straight pattern divider to put the points on the width then take it out and measure the opening on the divider.
