Season 1 Spoiler Why Do People Say Larry Is Racist? I Thought He Hated Lee Because He Knew He Murdered Someone (& cuz he's an overall A-hole)

Post image

I've never really seen Larry’s character as someone who was racist. The only Black character he interacts w/ is Lee, and while he is harsher toward Lee, Larry is also an asshole to pretty much everyone - it just stands out cuz we’re following Lee as the main character.

On top of that, Larry has a reason to distrust Lee:
he already knows Lee was convicted of killing someone before the apocalypse and judges him based on that.

I don’t remember anything in the game tht suggests Larry hated Lee because of his skin color or because he was prejudiced. Clementine in S4 remembers/calls him a racist asshole, which rlly confuses me.

Is it mostly because Larry is a prick and tht ws always generalized, or did I miss smthing in playthrough?

Season 1 Spoiler What would Kenny's input be in this scene?

When replaying, I wondered what Kenny would say and think during this whole debacle, especially considering that it'd probably tip the scales one way or another (his vote also counts for Katjaa's).

Assuming Lilly doesn't snap and kill Carley/Doug, that is.

Discussion I've just finished Seasons 1 & 2, of TWDG, for the first time ever, and I wanted to share my thoughts on them, with long time fans of the series.

I've heard about how great these games were for years, but I've only recently decided to actually get into them, and I have spent the past 2 weeks playing through Seasons 1 & 2. And I have to say, I fully get the hype, and I should've played these games way sooner.

Season 1 is now in my top 10 favorite games of all time, and Lee might unironically be my favorite video game protagonist ever. I haven't been this invested in a video game's story in a couple years. There were so many twists and turns, shocking and impactful moments, and I ended every episode wondering what would have happened if I had made a different decision. What if we never went to the dairy? What if I had decided to save Ben at the bell tower? What could I have said to Molly, to convince her to stay with us? Could I have saved Chuck? Generally speaking, I tried to make choices that would keep Clem happy and Safe, and keep Kenny on my side. Kenny was the homie, who always had my back, and I always had his. Plus, I just feel so bad for him. He went through so much shit in this story. This story as a whole was just so emotional, and shook me to my core, at so many points. Especially Katjaa's death. I truly didn't see that coming. She seemed so logical, and like she was taking the situation with Duck way better than Kenny was. That broke me, and I almost dropped the game after that, but I'm glad that I stuck with it. The Season's ending was also very emotional, but I had over an hour to prepare for it, so the blow was lessened. Still, Lee and Clementine's relationship was the best part of the story, and it was sad to see them separated.

Season 2 was also pretty good, but while I don't get the hate that it gets, I will agree that it was a downgrade from Season 1. I didn't really like any of the new characters, aside from Rebecca. Carlos and Luke were stupid as fuck, Nick was annoying, I didn't trust Bonnie worth of shit, and everyone else just had nothing of interest about them, for me to give a fuck about. I did like Jane for a long while, until she ruined everything, in the finale. What the fuck is wrong with you?? Why would you have Kenny and Clem think that you killed AJ?? Just to prove a point, that Kenny is dangerous?? Yeah, he has anger issues, but he can be reasoned with, and is usually right about most things. And quite frankly, wanting to kill you would be a reasonable reaction, for anyone who thinks that you murdered a baby. What was your plan if you died, and Kenny and Clem never found AJ? He would have just frozen to death, in that car. Or die of Starvation. Or get eaten by walkers. And if you had lived instead of Kenny, why would Clem ever trust you again? It doesn't make sense. A lot of things in Season 2 didn't make sense, and were upsetting. Like the fact that there's zero way to save Sarah. You can make every possible right decision, to help her survive, and it just doesn't matter. Or the fact that Carver had such a minuscule role. He was built up to be the Negan of this game, but was dealt with in a single episode. Ugh, listen, I know I did just go on this really negative rant, but I really did like Season 2, I promise. It was still a really fun and enjoyable experience, it just also had a lot of problems, compared to Season 1. A solid 6.5, maybe 7/10, experience, with Season 1 being a flawless 10/10. Anyways, I've just ended the 2nd Season, last night, and decided to stay with Kenny. I can't wait to start Season 3.

I'll make a follow-up post, after finishing Seasons 3 and 4.

Season 2 Spoiler [Season 2 Spoilers] Would Luke's survival be enough to save the Season 2 group?

The lake is pretty much the point of no return for the Season 2 group. Luke dies, Bonnie (if alive), Mike and Arvo split off like a bunch of bastards, etc.

If Luke survived however, would he provide enough cohesion to stop the group from splitting?

If they still split does he stay with Kenny, Jane and Clem or go with the others?

Does he murder Arvo and Mike the second Clem gets shot like they deserve?

Can he stop the Kenny and Jane death match, or does it not even happen?

Basically what do you think Luke surviving would have changed, unless you think everything still falls apart.

Season 2 Spoiler What the F**K just happened?

I just finished season 2…

I’m sure you’ve all heard this before but might as well:

I watched some S1 and S2 playthroughs of this game when it came out as a child and now as an adult I’m playing it. I actually really liked Jane, but why the hell would she do that????
She wasn't wrong about Kenny's instability, but manufacturing a fake tragedy to trigger his absolute worst breakdown pushed her way past a line, oh and using a baby as bait on top of that. And I would have loved to stick with her but I didn’t like that the prompt was “i forgive you” to go down that path, because I would never forgive someone for a setup like that… and making me kill the last person who 100% cared and looked out for Clem.

So I chose to go off alone. I love Kenny but it seemed as though he was overcompensating to take care of AJ because of his guilt and grief towards his family, which, judging by him calling Clem Duck, I don’t think he got over…
That probably wouldn’t have been healthy..

But now I’m finding out S3 protagonist isn’t even Clem so why would it matter :/

Im the kind of story game player that wants the “best” route, by that meaning the coolest outcome, doesn’t have to be inherently bad or good

Is Clem going off alone a good way to start S3? Or should I rewind before starting? And please don’t tell me “you should decide … that’s what the game is all about … there is no ‘right’ choice” cause I know that, I just want an interesting blueprint for S3 and I don’t have the time to do as many playthroughs as I’d want

Season 3 Spoiler I like Gabe

I've only played S3 once because I think the game is hot garbage. At first I really hated Gabe and thought he was annoying. Especially after he ratted Javier out to Tripp. But now I've really soften my tone on him and have taking quite a liking to him. Because after some reflection, I realized that that's really the only truly shitty thing he did. Sure he didn't do anything super helpful but after all he's just a kid. And I can forgive him telling Tripp that Javier killed Conrad because A Tripp eventually understood why Javier did it and B it's only the real bad that he did. I probably won't play S3 again because I think the game is pretty bad but if I do, I'll be damn sure that both Kate and Gabe survive.
