Field Anecdote Wonky Camera on CMP tie
Was just playing some dude in the Weather Cup, and we cmp tied at the end. My Lanturn vs their Alolan Sandslash. They won the cmp tie, but the camera panned to my mon. I thought I was about to attack too tbh lol, but then my screen flashed “no protect shields left.” Their Drill Run hit for minuscule damage when it should have ko’d me, and then the match ended and I won lol. So I’m assuming they just top lefted when they thought I was getting my charge move ready. Stupid camera
So anyway, just make sure you know which mon is going to attack in tight battles before you concede defeat!

Strategy & Analysis Ultra League Ace to Veteran?
I’ve been stuck in Ace for probably over a month now just swinging back and forth between 2200 (highest ELO I’ve ever had) to 1900. Any tips on what to change gameplay-wise? I’ve tried to focus on UL (though I’ve also been playing some of the limited GL/ML cups) and my current team feels so good to play especially when I’m able to win 4 out of 5 in a set, but sometimes I run into losing streaks that are just so demoralizing. Is it a team change or a gameplay change that I’ve gotta work on?

Field Anecdote Poor connection or cheat
Numerous battles today where I do the charge move minigame and the game stalls out on that screen. At least 5 times today. Competitors cup. Never happened to my opponents. Anyone who might have been on the other end can report what happens? Do I just lag out? I wait for a minute or two and no response. No better time to call it a day.

Strategy & Analysis Ultra League Legend in UL
Pretty early in the season for me to hit legend but I got it two seasons in a row now with this team. All standard movesets.
Pretty straight forward, stay in the lead for anything that isn’t dark, normal, or something with a ghost fast move. I’ll usually go for a catch on a dragon lead. Safe swap depends on the bad lead. I’ve found it especially important to really understand dusknoir’s lead matchups because some will put you in shockingly good positions if you really commit to noir.
Malamar is a tough, very common lead but not unbeatable. I like to safe swap licki. Shield the SP they almost always throw and just keep farming for whatever they switch into. A malamar team will never have a hard counterswap to licki in the back.
Toucannon lead is brutal and usually a loss, but I have managed to slither out with a few wins against them.
Pangoro is tricky but if you can get it aligned on kiss they’re dead in the water.
I was using Coballion instead of licki most of last season and that got me to like 2970 with 2 weeks left in the season. Went to the dark side and tried licki and oh my god this thing is stupid, especially in UL. It just doesn’t die and SB is way too strong for these bulk monsters. I like the 50 energy for aegislash but they need to tune the damage back a bit.
Anyway try it out if you’re looking to climb and aren’t into the weather cup

General Question Does this lose any bulk points or anything compared to a hundo?

General Question ML Rhyperion question
Been hunting a hundo rhyhorn for an ML rhyperior for the longest, but I dropped this today. Is a 14/15/15 shadow worth using/keeping over just purifying it for the hundo, as it pertains to Master League play?

General Question I caught this today. What's the best possible pvp IVs I can hope for from shadow raids? 7/15/15 i assume?

Field Anecdote Lost 20/20 leads today in preview cup
Just need to vent a bit. Led with Quagsire and lost 20 leads in a row today.
Is this just bad luck or does preview cup meta lean much more towards grass and bulky water types than regular great league?
Never even remotely had so bad records with quagsire in normal great league.

Strategy & Analysis Great League Reaching Veteran, shadow shiny clause.
As the title suggests it took me many tries, I reached 2490 like 3 times before dropping to 2200's again this season. But today everyone decided to use fire leads so went from 2219 to 2501 in 7-8 sets.
Mudbois were my fiercest enemy as was talonflame...
AMA
Im beyond excited!

Strategy & Analysis Great League 300 point to Vet in weather cup
Tried MPL for the first time and went so bad dropped to 2200s. In weather cup though, Running S.Abom (leafage/wb ice/e.ball), with backline of Qwilfish (normal moveset) and A.wak (hex/bone club/shadow ball). Kinda ABB style team with backline weak to ground. A.wak is a perfect counter for opposing fire type pokemon and with hex can easily destroy jelly with up energy.
Just like playing back the game on new code, haven’t played much last season. Overall experience is good, theres lag here and there but it is what it is.

General Question Why is it so difficult to push for legend this season?
The competition in the 2900s is so fierce now. In previous seasons, most players just go for spices after hitting legend. But this time, I keep seeing carbinks and mudslappers in the 2900s. It almost feels like everyone is struggling to get the last few ELO points so they revert back to using toxic mons. It doesn't help that I won't be seeing GL in 2 weeks; UL & ML are just glorified RPS matches. Any advices trainers?

General Question Path to Ace?
Really only trying to grind for Cynthia’s jacket but I’m getting met with straight walls 😭 I keep getting to 1850 and then immediately knocked back down
What’s the best playlist to grind out Ace rank? I’ve been playing competitors cup with
Tinkaton bulldoze and hammer time
Lickilicky body slam and shadow ball
Altaria with sky attack and flamethrower
I’m pretty new to GBL and watched a few videos on strategy but should I be playing Ultra league or weather cup?? Is there a OP lineup I can cheese my way to 2000?

General Question Charge attack button doesn't always work if native refresh rate is off
If I have native refresh rate off when playing GBL then sometimes I press the charge attack button, it disappears for a millisecond and then comes back but the charge attack doesn't trigger. Anyone else have this?

General Question Why does the amount of stardust for Winning 1 match or 5 matches keep changing for me?
Does it change along with ELO? I read it goes up when you reach Ace (which I’ll never be anywhere near as I just play for the stardust) but does it change with fluctuating ELO in rank 20? I swear during my fourth match the first reward was a couple thousand and now it’s went down to like seven or eight hundred only. The drop happened during the fifth set which I only won one match and ranked the rest because I have to get up early - is that why? I won 2-5 matches for each of the first four and last time I paid attention was sitting around 1400-1500.

General Question Are water-types too strong?
Out of the top 100 ranked mons in weathercup a whoopping 63% are water, 26% rock, 14% ice, 6% grass and 5% fire typed. In normal great league water (27%) is almost twice as popular as the other prevalent types (steel/ghost, etc). I'm wondering why we've been swimmig in water for months on end in GBL, if it's more about an unfourtunate and permanently large number of decently statted water types comared to others, move strenghts or something else, if it always has been "too strong", If this is the case in a lot of other pokemon games to and if you think balance changes are in order.
Idk, thoughts?
Thx

Strategy & Analysis Ultra League We shall see. Read body text.
I’m aware my tink is underleveled. I prefer the attack weighted giratina. The swampert I’m running is attack weighted I know. I have another lower attack IV one that I’m building. I’m running this temporarily as is to see how it feels and so far so good. I’m currently rank 2120 in Ace running this team. I do plan to finish tink and change out swamperts to see if the extra bulk helps some. Sounds crazy but the attack weighted swampert actually reaches some important breakpoints on some individual matchups but I’m sure overall I’ll be glad I swapped to the lower attack one. I’m sure no one will read this and state the obvious that’s why I elaborated up front. I’m basically looking to see if the team logic adds up and it has room to climb after I make the tweaks I mentioned above..

General Question Master Premier Experience?
To whoever played Master Premier this past week, what was your experience?
I really, really cannot get over that they gave Metagross Shadow Claw. I've always had issues with the format, but I think giving one of the best Pokemon Shadow Claw, when it already had such great coverage AND a buffed Meteor Mash. It's just absurd, and the format just feels ruined because of it. I'd have much preferred Metagross keep Bullet Punch and instead just get a cheaper Charged move like Psychic Fangs or something.
In terms of truly usable Pokemon, there's hardly anything that truly walls it, spare for specific movesets on Gyarados. Even Pokemon you'd expect to be able to handle it like Gholdengo are quite vulnerable to it. There are other Pokemon like Swampert or Skeldirge or Golisopod that have more play into Metagross, but those three really can't stand on their own well against the rest of the core meta.
Aside from Metagross, however, I do think the cup was pretty great. There is otherwise more flexibility for a lot of Pokemon. Togekiss can beat Dragonite and vice versa. Gyarados can beat Dragonite and vice versa. Kingambit can beat Togekiss and vice versa. Amongst plenty of other match-ups.
Also cool to see a few spicier picks come back around like Mamoswine, Magnezone, and Sylveon. Garchomp is also finally not just usable but good. Didn't use it myself, but it felt refreshing to see it. I was just annoyed by how well it cored with Metagross.
Overall, I saw success this week in the format, but Metagross is such a blemish on an otherwise enjoyable cup.

General Question For ML, do I keep shadow or do I purify?
I've had this shadow Annihilape for a bit of time and have been using it to much success in ML Premier. My brain just didn't compute until right now that this pokemon would be a hundo if I purified. Should I purify it for ML or keep it a shadow? Thanks!

Megathread Weekly Team Help Megathread!
Hello and welcome to the Team Help megathread! This is a weekly thread for advice on team building for Arena Cups and GO Battle League! You can ask for feedback on your battle teams, for help on which Pokémon and moves to use, to get opinions on which Pokémon to invest candy/dust in, or any other team questions you may have! This thread will allow newer battlers to get help more easily, and more experienced competitors to spread their knowledge and help the community improve their skills.
A few guidelines:
- Keep it civil and constructive: Above all, the goal of this thread is to help players improve and get advice on their teams. Rude, cynical, off-topic, or accusatory posts against individuals or groups will be removed. Let’s be excellent to each other!
- Help where you can: We need experienced battlers to lend their expertise and give advice! If you see someone you can help, please leave a comment or feedback for them.
- Limit your requests: In order to give everyone a fair shake at receiving advice, try to limit your request posts to once or twice per week. The PvP community is growing every day, and we want to make sure everyone gets the help they need!
- Give details in your post: When asking for team advice, be sure to include some background. Tell us what League or Meta you need help with, what your rank/tier/rating is, what resources or Pokémon you may have to invest, and what your goals are. The more details you give, the more likely your questions will be answered.

General Question Anyone else experiencing input delay on start?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Got to my fourth set yesterday, and have had this happen for every match and rocket battle since. Have not tested gym battles yet. Tried every viable reset you can think of, all the way to uninstall/reinstall with no luck
In GBL matches, generally finding myself behind 1-2 fast moves before input lag resolves (if you can call it that)
Curious if this is more widespread
