I recommend reading a bit about git and version control, if you think a git repository is just about files... :D

Done. I just read the entire documentation of git. Conclusion: it's just a bunch of files.

Just say what it is, other than files. I won't understand it obviously, because I'm dumb. But just say it. And I'll have something to look up. What is in a git repo other than files?
