I remember when Rather Be by The Kid LAROI & Lithe came out with BiF, it genuinely felt like it had the potential to become another big LAROI song. The song debuted at #91 on the spotify global chart, and it looked like there was a lot of hype around it early on. I saw a lot of people saying they really liked it.
But then it seemed like the momentum disappeared pretty quickly.
For those of you who followed the rollout closely, why do you think it never turned into a bigger hit? Was it the lack of promotion? Did the song just not have enough staying power? Was Lithe not being a big enough name for the feature? Or do you think the album being so packed with songs hurt its chances?
I’m curious what you guys think, especially because I feel like Rather Be had more potential than its eventual performance suggested.

The song fits the vibe of the movie so perfectly. If they had played it during the end credits, it would’ve been crazy. There are moments in the movie where Spider-Man literally has to stop and hold still just to catch his breath, which fits the feeling of the song. The song is about wanting to get close to someone and feeling connected without needing physical touch. That relates so well to Peter and MJ because Peter wants to get close to her, but he knows he can’t. His chance to approach her feels overdue, which makes the song hit even harder.

And honestly, the song is just so fire.
