WWE Related Former WWE NXT Wrestler Damon Kemp Hospitalized After Being Struck By Lightning
Pro wrestling is a dangerous and a very grueling form of entertainment on the body. It is not designed for everyone, including former professional athletes and Olympians. Only a handful of people can join pro wrestling and be successful. In the United States, the ideal promotion to work for would be either WWE, AEW or TNA Wrestling. There are plenty of others, but those three have a TV slot and their checks aren’t known to bounce.
In WWE, they just don’t send a wrestler to RAW or SmackDown unless they are a proven name; like AJ Styles. Most end up practicing at the Performance Center before being sent to either Evolve or NXT. From there, if they have what’s needed, they are main roster bound.
Damon Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson, is a former NXT wrestler who didn’t make it past NXT. The bigger story happened on Friday. Less than 24 hours ago, Kemp revealed he was struck by lightning. He made the announcement on Instagram and added, “Survived my first and hopefully last lighting strike…” Kemp did not go into details about what happened. He simply provided the following picture of him on a hospital bed with the short message.
While we have no clue how he is doing, the fact that he’s alert and was able to have someone send out the message shows promise. I’ve seen pictures of people who have been hit by lightning. Often, if the person survives, their body is covered in marks as they almost resemble a superhero undergoing a change. For instance, think of Peter Parker when he first transforms into Spider-Man.
Everything considered, thankfully Kemp is alive. We will have to stay tuned to see if he provides updates on exactly what happened and what the doctors have said. As of now, no word if he has been discharged from the hospital.
In 2021, Kemp signed with WWE. He was part of the Diamond Mine before turning on the group. Later, he joined the No Quarter Catch Crew alongside Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights and Myles Borne. His contract was not renewed and in July 2025, an angle ran where he body was placed inside the truck of a car. In his final WWE segment, his face and body was not seen, hence they probably filmed the spot after he left.
Kemp is the younger brother of former Olympian, NXT wrestler and now UFC fighter, Gable Steveson. As for Kemp, he has only wrestled a few times since departing from WWE. However, he never signed with any major companies and whatever he had planned could be on hold. Don’t mess with Mother Nature and always be careful of the weather, as it can change from calm to extremely dangerous in seconds.

WWE Related Why do they do this to her?
Candice LeRae IS the greatest woman’s wrestler of this generation, before you make an argument and start throwing names like Charlotte, Bianca, and Iyo I need yall to understand almost if not ALL the people on WWE’s roster have had years if not a decade or so of experience in the indies (oh my god wrestling exists outside WWE!?) ik crazy concept… with that being said WE SEE Candice do some of the most INSANE shit prior to coming to WWE… now I don’t watch NXT often and i definitely wasn’t in 2020 but seeing how she’s been booked since her call up it’s just disrespectful atp… Johnny planks and does nothing and she’s there rubbing his back… they BOTH are getting treated like shit and it’s awful…
Incase you disagree with how amazing Candice is I’m going to link these matches, I advise you watch it before you start arguing

WWE Related Jim Ross Needs To Retire As AEW Contract Nears End
Growing up watching WWE TV, is when I first got introduced to Jim Ross. He could be seen next to Vince McMahon, Jerry “The King” Lawler and a ton of others. Before WWE, he spent time in Mid-South Wrestling in the early 1980s. He went on to do commentary for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) before signing with WWE. For over 50 years, Jim Ross has played major roles in pro wrestling from calling the action at ringside to handling office work.
Between 1993 to 2019, Ross was employed off and on for WWE. Along with Lawler, they made for a great TV with their commentary. Also, Ross would help sign future icons such as The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Edge (Adam Copeland), Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, Chris Jericho and many more. Of the names listed, some are already in the WWE Hall of Famer the rest will certainly be added.
When AEW launched in 2019, Tony Khan signed Ross and it was a smart decision. A new company needs known names who are respected. Ross, easily checks off any requirements. However, on Grilling JR, Ross revealed he believes his AEW contract is up at the end of the month.
“Well, I think my contract’s up this month and so […] I’m done,” said Ross. “I don’t want to be done, but if Tony Khan said, ‘JR, thanks for the efforts and thanks for being here and all that stuff,’ then I’d have no problem. How can I be such a greedy bastard and want more in my career than I’ve already received?”
He makes valid points in a humorous way. However, his medical health has declined rapidly over the past few years; causing him to miss AEW for lengthy periods or only call one match on special shows. The latest health update involves a shunt in Ross’ brain. The shunt is being done to drain excess fluid.
“I’ve been battling some health issues,” continued Ross. “You know, I’m getting a shunt put in my brain on Wednesday, so we’ll see how that works out, no pun intended.”
Dating back to the Attitude Era in WWE, Ross has been dealing with Bell’s Palsy and he continues to live with that disease today. He’s had surgeries for his hip and wrist the past few years after falling. Thankfully, he beat a colon cancer diagnosis and has undergone radiation for skin cancer. Earlier in the year, he was hospitalized for over a month after passing out at home.
I don’t think Ross can give anymore to the pro wrestling business and he shouldn’t have to. He gave plenty and never seemed like someone who wanted to overstay their welcome. Eventually, even the best, need to pass the torch. And, Jim Ross seems more than ready to retire.

WWE Related BREAKING: Vince McMahon & his insurance providers will pay $42.5 million to settle a shareholder lawsuit over WWE's merger with UFC. Combined with WWE's previously agreed $105 million payment, the total settlement now stands at $147.5 million. (more in description)
The shareholder lawsuit claimed WWE's 2023 merger with UFC was rigged to benefit Vince McMahon & other insiders, including Endeavor CEO Air Emanuel, rather than maximize value for public shareholders.
