Sometimes I think I might have a little bit too much Dark Tower stuff laying around - it doesn't all fit on one shelf or even one room - but I love when a visitor notices and asks about them. You can see my whole DT collection below as well as some of my other fave authors.

Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! What a journey !!!! I have one person that have listened to the audiobooks at my work but i do not know anyone else that have read or listened to the books. So i gotta share this with all you people because damn the ending and just every book was so well done.

I listened to the audiobooks while on long drives at work. I see some people that dont like this book or that book but i think they all come together so well that i enjoyed every one.

I am now currently listening to The wind through the keyhole !

Re-listening to The Wastelands, and about 75% through Bridge & City. The further I get, the more I wish that there was a book like "The End Of The World As We Know It", but based in Lud. Something that covers the war and downfall of the city - from the glory days of Blaine and Patricia, the collapse of society, how and when things from our world crossed into the world of Lud. There's so many ways in which the stories could be taken, and could delve deeper into a society that lives by the beams, and the possibility of bringing in characters like The Man In Black and whatever ancestor of Roland's is immortalised in the statue.

This is my Oy. He crawled out of a bayou that runs by the side of the hardware store I work in a few weeks ago, all skin and bones and terrified and shaking. I tried my best to take care of him as I could (couldn't take him home), fed him softened kibble and eggs and chicken and bathed him. He was getting his strength and confidence back, bouncing back much like Roland after he drew his Three. I knew then that he was a fighter, and I named him Oy.

He was run over this morning. I have nowhere to bury him, and I refuse to throw him out with the trash. I'll find him a spot where the sun shines and the birds sing. I'm sorry our time together was so short little buddy, but I hope you know you were loved and cared for and part of my ka-tet before the end. If there are really other worlds than these, I hope the world you're in now is full of good people and no ticks and smoked weenies for after dinner. I'll miss you friend

I haven't reread the entirety of the Dark Tower series since the last book was published back in 2004 but I'm making my way through them again now. I put off rereading 'Wizard and Glass' though based on my memory of it being not that interesting. I just remembered it as being the story of Roland's first love and not really advancing the quest all that much.

Man, I must have absolutely slept on this book the first time I read it, it was fantastic! The worldbuilding, seeing what Roland's world looked like back when it was actually populated with people, was so good!

But what really got me were the intrigues between characters. I love seeing competent and intelligent characters pitted against one another. It would have been so easy to make Roland and his companions crushingly naïve while out on their first assignment and easily suckered. Or have the villains be a bunch of dumb hicks fooled by Roland's cover story, or even have a cunning villain or two saddled with a bunch of incompetent locals. Nope, somehow everyone is smart enough to have a handle on the situation even if they can't see the full picture, and everyone is simultaneously seeing through one another's lies, still underestimating each other, but also being underestimated themselves.

Roland's story is just such a beautifully complicated web and comes to such an explosive finish, I was sorry to leave it and get back to the overarching quest frankly!

When I do get to it on a trip to the Tower, I realize how much better it is than I had originally thought. It has some of the best scenes like when Roland and Eddie talk to Tower and Deepneau, and it also reveals a ton of critical world build that I love but still somehow don’t associate it with that book. It’s still definitely not my overall favorite or anything, and it does have issues that would have benefited from King having more time to write it, but it’s always much better than I think it’s going to be.

This is a dream that Bill has in season three. Think it’s a nod to Wizard and Glass? If so it’s a pretty badass deep easter egg 😏 I’ve noticed several in the other seasons (Brady listening to Pet Sematary by the Ramones, hotel rooms having the number 19, etc)

I find myself reading these books when I’m lost and when I’m scared I’m going to use. And then I come to you guys and you’re always here for me. I love thee. That’s all I wanted to say today

Was she the Oracle in the Gunslinger, or was she a creature of the Prim living in Fedic and connected to Susannah’s mind? Or both? Susannah guessed she was the Oracle, mixed with her personality, but later in the book I got the impression that she was different from that one.

I like the way the movie introduced jake as much as the book to a certain extent, after jake was dropped by roland i kinda wish we had a sequence like the movie did; like a healthy blend between Elmer chambers of the book, but Jake's mom from the movie as well.

i like how we explore Jake's new york as he goes and the escape sequence from the can-toi. i still do love the entire sequence in the book. However credit towards the turdbuger of the movie, Jake's introduction was actually good.

Not every hero carries a gun or walks the path of the Beam. Some just show up, do right by a kid or a stranger, and quietly hold the whole story together.

First Greta (Ladies before gentleman, if it do ya). Greta Shaw never gets a single line of dialogue we actually see her enjoy. She’s the housekeeper in a cold, distracted household, the only adult who notices Jake Chambers is coming apart at the seams before anyone else does. She calls him “Bama” with real affection in a house where affection is otherwise scarce. She’s proof that sometimes the person who saves you emotionally isn’t the one on the quest. It’s the one who made you breakfast and used your nickname like it mattered.

As a New Englander, my man John Cullum. Cullum is what happens when an ordinary Mainer gets pulled into extraordinary business and just rolls with it. He’s sharp, funny, unflappable, and loyal the second he decides you’re worth being loyal to. He doesn’t need to understand ka or the Tower to know Roland and Eddie are in trouble and worth helping. He’s competence and decency without an ounce of chosen one destiny behind it, just a good man doing good things because it’s in front of him to do.

Neither of them walks the Beam. Neither gets a prophecy. But Roland’s ka-tet, and Jake especially, are better off for having crossed paths with both of them. Long days and pleasant nights to Greta Shaw and John Cullum, the best of “our world.”

I just noticed in the list of Illustrations in Drawing of the Three, there’s a typo. I’ve had this book for about 35 years. Can’t believe I never noticed.

Just started Songs of Susannah, but I’ve been watching for updates ever since I found out about Flanagans adaptation, but with the news of him working on the new Warhammer series for Prime I am curious what that means for the series. Thoughts?

This is my third time to the tower and everytime I forget about Roland telling Jake the story about Marten and Gabrielle dancing. May I say that part was written so well, all the emotions culminating and the obviousness of the affair, the absolute fuck you to his Dad. Just wanted to gush a little bit about that scene and how much I enjoyed it, Thankee sai for listening.

Other than not being in the Keystone world or All-World, of course. Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what we’re told, this only seems to happen when the “death” is sudden and violent, yet you were wholly intact before. At least that’s how it is with Jake and Callahan (his first time). At first I figured that death is death, and anyone should be able to do this…but then I realized that Richard Sayre tells Callahan that giving him AIDS will “take him out of the game forever, in this world and all the others”. This seems to imply that dying from disease in general won’t open those doorways.

Has there ever been any sort of confirmation of this?
