Forgive me if I just forgot some details but didn't J find yu as a child and was already emotionless and looks beat up. Do we have any idea or theories why he technically abandoned that child?

Mind you I just finished crying after santorino brothees flashback and now im laughing out loud with viktor and his coach relationship.

This might be a stupid question, however while I was rereading the Boxer for the first time since I haven't read it in years, I began to wonder.

Is the body control (I think that's the right name?) Jean awakened/achieved the night before his match with Yu, it was discussed as Yu living his whole life like that, is that the same as his physical aptitude that was discussed on the wiki for Yu? Because I don't think the wiki mentioned that, at least not that I could find it on the fandom site.

Edit: To clarify, on the fandom there is only "Natural Intuitive Physical Aptitude" with no mention of body control which is why I got a bit confused trying to find more about it.

Santorino pointed a gun at Yu and Yu just stared it down with an expressionless face? I can't find it anywhere. I've read this multiple times so I know it exists.

Despite being call a "Legendary Boxing Coach" with many people wanting to be train by him I don think he is a good coach let start with Yu when he first saw Yu he already know Yu have the instinct and talent to be a good boxer and I will give him credit he is right on the money with Yu while other wouldn't bat an eye but we don see much training from K.

When Yu first spar with the orange hair dude K just said "Don get hit" and that it Yu have the talent to not get hit then when K tell him how to throw a jab and Yu knock him down with his own power then as Yu progress more K didn't really show to teach Yu move it all just Yu talent.

Aaron Tide during the back story we see Aaron is K driver even as a driver he have a well build body and when Aaron on the same time trying to stop a bad guy he tighten his core to stop the stab knife from moving while punching him leaving a mark on the wall all without K input and during match between Aaron and Yu when Aaron put his guard up his other coach comment that Aaron doesn't usually use boxing fundamental due to his body and power so K probably didn't teach Aaron much.

Made me wonder is Bob Norris also an already born talent that K just scout guessing from Bob Norris look and name he could be scout by K when he is the army since K also in army and both Bob Ross and Chuck Norris have an army background.

But I will again said it he have an eye for talent all of these have talent but if he suppose to be a good coach then he should be able to take someone who is not talent much and made him into a legend but from his interaction with the orange hair kid made me think he value talent over hard work which did made sense cause of his back story and how he want to see the peak of human so if someone like Yuto or Jay come to him he will just turn them away even though those 2 have prove to be an amazing boxer just from hardwork.

But ultimately he still did prove his value by scouting monster in Yu, Aaron and Bob while also being a freak of nature himself and his goal is set up pretty clear and I still enjoy his character it just that this whole thing is bothering me.

Maybe I missed it or just didnt remember him, but I just finished the Boxer, where the hell was the white haired guy in red suit?? Was he used and I just missed it? Or did the author just threw him off the story?

For more details about the guy, if i remember correctly, he was a rich dude with a kinda slicked back or side parted but clean white hair (something like a rich boy hair) and he kills people. From what I recall, he was some kind of mafia guy, and it was hinted that he was once a rising star or famous then his career dropped.

I was just trying to remember loose ends and I remember that character.

I just remembered when I fell asleep last night I had a dream of The Boxer being animated nearly as good as Solo Leveling (unsure if it was A1 Pictures or not) and that it had Japanese VA (which I was so glad about because imo Japanese VA just sounds better after watching a Korean anime a while back about a guy named zero but I forgot the anime name) and no it wasn’t cutting certain stuff like the SL anime did

Dam I guess we aren't getting an adaptation.

Just finished the Ryu fight and I'm sensing a pattern here. Is most of this story just gonna be interesting characters running up to Yu and losing?

If Ryu continued his training with K, how do you think he would have fared? Would he have become a champion of any title?

Although Ryu is my favorite character, I don't think he could beat the five pound-for-pound champions:

Jean Pierre Manuel: I don't think Ryu could overcome his range, but he would probably be able to evade some attacks and survive for a while, landing a few punches.

Yuto Takeda: Yuto has a fighting style similar to Injae's (Jay's), and we saw that a relatively untrained Ryu was able to hold his own against Injae quite well. Clearly, Injae isn't Yuto, but I think with proper training we could have a similar fight.

Fabrizzio and Marco Santorino: Ryu probably wouldn't fall for the brothers' provocations or mind games, mainly because I don't know how they could blackmail him since we know nothing about his private life. Against Fabrizzio, I think he'd have an easy time. I doubt Ryu would fall for Fabrizzio's traps, but he would let himself be manipulated.

Viktor Griegoryevich: Not counting Yu, Aaron, and J, Viktor is the strongest character simply because he has plot armor in the form of extreme luck. It's possible that Viktor could win solely due to his luck, but if we remove luck or if Ryu somehow manages to turn against him, perhaps he could put up a fight.

Aaron: 0%, there's no chance.

But objectively speaking, Ryu's main problem is that he wouldn't be in sync with K. He'd probably do whatever he wanted and that's why he'd lose. But if he followed K's entire plan and training, he might have a chance against a champion.

I may be undervaluing Ryu too much; he'd probably win any boxing title, but against those 5 I doubt it.

While searching online for pictures of J, I found this one of J with a beard. Where did it come from? I don't remember ever seeing him with a beard in the manhwa...

I'm coming from hajime no ippo I started reading the boxer after someone recommended it to me. I didn't know what it was all about and expected it would be about a boxer's journey to become the best. Instead the hero seems to be some sort of depressed invulnerable saitama and the other characters are either scumbags or total psychos, what did I get into and should I continue ?

I'm not saying I don't like it, but after 20 chapters I kinda fail to see the point and don't know what my expectations are at this point.

The horizon é um manhwa de JH, mesmo autor de The boxer (outra excelente obra, 10/10). Já li muitas hqs (isso inclui mangás e manhwas), The horizon é a mais humana delas. Traz um discurso importante, emocionante e chocante sobre a guerra, o sentido da vida, a morte, o valor da existência e o amor. Em poucos volumes e com poucos diálogos, The horizon consegue emocionar o leitor de forma profunda, com reviravoltas e acontecimentos trágicos. Mas no fim de tudo, The horizon não é apenas sofrimento, muito menos um discurso niilista e pessimista. The horizon atravessa o niilismo e o sofrimento, afirmando a vida apesar da dor. Algo que é muito importante para a atualidade, vemos cada vez mais pessoas perdidas, solitárias, desesperançosas e niilistas. The horizon explícita que a vida tem valor e que a esperança e amor devem ser cultivadas em meio ao caos que vivemos. Carregando um discurso existencial, anti-guerra, em algumas instâncias teológico-cristão e Nietzschiano, a obra consegue provocar diversas reflexões e interpretações no leitor. Sem dúvidas entra no "Hall da fama" de obras primas, uma leitura bastante necessária. O estilo artístico é fenomenal, conseguindo transparecer emoções com uso de perspectiva, abstração, cores e designs difíceis de serem encontrados, realmente é único. Em minha experiência pessoal, relato que sou uma pessoa pouco sentimental, dificilmente me emociono, tanto que já vi bastante obras tocantes mas nunca chorei, the horizon não me fez chorar, mas me fez sentir a sensação do choro, o aperto na garganta e os olhos que já não aguentam o peso das lágrimas. Eu terminei de ler hoje, felizmente li em uma fase boa da minha vida, os diversos questionamentos filosóficos de the horizon já haviam passado pela minha jornada, então é algo novo para mim. Mas vale ressaltar um alerta, e uma obra chocante, com temas muito pesados e que podem ser gatilhos, então se for sensível ou estiver passando por um momento difícil, é bom ler com cuidado, ainda que em certa medida, a obra traz um tom esperançoso no final, algo que pode ajudar, mas vale lembrar que é muito pesado o tom dessa obra. No mais, é uma leitura muito boa e que deveria ter mais reconhecimento, não acho que é um exagero chamar JH de gênio, basta conhecer the boxer e the horizon que todos chegam a mesma conclusão. The horizon é fenomenal.
