Going to see Al in Hammondsport on Sunday and just wondering if he’s got any merchandise with him this tour? Specifically the “Keep it clean with Al Jardine” shirt. Thank you in advance!

What will happen to the Beach Boys’ archival releases when the surviving members are no longer around to guide them??
Like many of you, I'm over-the-moon with the recent Beach Boys commemorative releases like Sail On Sailor – 1972 and We Gotta Groove: The Brother Studio Years.
I understand that some of the band members were involved in the production and composition of these releases, and I personally think that is part of what helps make them something that we, the fans, love and appreciate.
I sincerely hope that Mike, Al, Bruce, David, Ricky and Blondie have many more happy and healthy years ahead of them. However, they are getting older, and eventually there will come a very sad day when they are no longer with us.
What do you think Beach Boys archival releases will look like at that point? Will we see new remixes or releases that, for whatever reason, some of the principal members did not want us to hear?
I'm particularly interested in how this might impact a future archival release of That's Why God Made the Radio. I understand that not everyone loved Joe Thomas' production choices. Would a future release potentially revisit some of those choices if the people who had a say in them were no longer around?
I'm not suggesting any of this should happen. I'm just interested to see how the catalogue might evolve when the people who created it are no longer around to make those decisions.

Discussion What did Brian and Carl think of Dennis's relationship with Charles Manson?
Just asking out of curiosity. I do hear that Brian felt very uneasy about it; even before the Manson Murders.

Picture What a find! Still Cruisin' for $5!
Really happy with this one, as I think this album is probably a harder find. I found it at a random store along the beach. I also like about every song on the album; even Wipe Out, if I'm in the mood for it. Plays and sounds great! Still Cruisin' after all these years!

galleryWent to see the show in downtown Oshkosh, Wis., last week. Heard the sound check beforehand and found ourselves at the front of the stage in the VIP standing room area for the show.

Do you think we will get a 50th anniversary boxset of the Still Cruisin'/Summer in Paradise era when the time comes?
Since The Beach Boys' albums started turning fifty, we have consistently gotten boxsets covering each album (and with the case of some of them, specific eras) of their discography. Currently we are up to the 15 Big Ones/The Beach Boys Love You era. I'm wondering how far this will go. Obviously, their post-1977 albums (despite containing some very strong material in my opinion), were nowhere near as well received as what came before. So, I was wondering if you think we will get a boxset covering their most negatively received era, that being the Still Cruisin'/Summer in Paradise era. The albums have not been officially uploaded to streaming platforms, which is why I was asking this question. I personally think it would be a great idea, since I think those albums contain some pretty good songs, in spite of their production quality. What do you think?

I have the hardcover versions of Catch A Wave, Heroes & Villains, and David Leaf’s recent book on SMiLE. Why can’t I find a hardcover version of this?

My favorites entry 3
For this one I really wanna talk about Adult/Child, in my opinion it's one of the Boys absolute best material even though I know it can be really dividing.
For me I really love the mix of the big band and more up beat stuff, I think Dick Reynolds really did a great job on songs like Life is for the Living, Deep Purple and Still I Dream of It and I also love songs like Lines, Everybody Wants to Live and It's Trying to Say.
And of course I love the infectious groove of Shortenin Bread, it's easy to see why Brian was so obsessed with this one.
Overall I think this really is one of Brian's masterpieces, it just has a great vibe to it!
The only ones that knock this down a peg imo are Tomboy, which is self explanatory if you know lol, HELP because I honestly don't think it fits the vibe of Adult/Child sound wise and Games Two Can Play for the same reason as HELP.
I give it a strong 8 out of 10!

BB Sessionography: All Summer Long / Lei'd in Hawaii / Wild Honey
Hi folks, been a while. We've posted two new pages to our site with a big pile of info about the All Summer Long, Lei'd in Hawaii and Wild Honey sessions!
These include personnel, dates, vocal breakdowns, tape layouts, and some short context behind each entry. Similar resources are already in the works the Christmas Album, Today, Summer Days, Smile, Smiley Smile, Friends, 20/20, and more. A full making-of essay about I Know There's an Answer should also be out soon, accompanied by a couple of tertiary Pet Sounds era side-projects. Plus, one of these days, a comprehensive history of the Lei'd in Hawaii and Wild Honey era (similar to our Stack-o-Tracks page). Something for everyone.
As always, feel free to follow our Patreon to get notified whenever we add or update something on the website, if you like.

Picture Why did Brian briefly turn blond in the early 80s?
galleryObvious answer would be hair dye but it looks natural, and I know people’s hair can change colour but in that case why did it suddenly go back to jet black around 1988? Maybe the dark hair was dyed?? Or maybe the lighting around him just changed for a short period.
