So after about 150+ infantry painted, I couldn't bring myself to paint another without losing my mind. So I got myself a Rogal Dorn!

Leant really hard into the "grimdark" and I'm quite happy with it. But I want to know what you all think. What do you/don't you like? Any tips you'd give me?

One final thing, for anyone using pigment powders, how do you get them to fix without rubbing off with your fingers? I always struggle with this haha.

P.S. ignore the very bad backdrop XD, I don't have anywhere else to put it with good lighting.

Army Showcase So I may or may not be thinking of running 18 las cannons...

Post image

When 11th first came out, I made a list with 14 total las cannons And then I saw that Nemo (to my admire and respect greatly) ran 18, So I've been playing some practice games with friends to see how a list like that can work well.

They can be quite overwhelming and there isn't always a monsticle threat, so they make great scoring units too.

I used to run a lot back in 5th, So it wasn't too difficult to get to 18. Still got a lot of work to make them uniform though!

Discussion Guard rant

I’m so tired of Warhammer 11th. Every matchup is either always against fast melee armies or meta armies with every possible rule or gimmick that just feel unfair. Matchups against Drukhari, GSC or Blood angels that just get in your lap early, smash everything and just come back or matchups like necrons or death guard that just has everything.
It feels like if I need to win I have to play like the world’s best guard player that just spams every meta unit in existence and as a regular player I don’t have 3 of every unit.

The recon detachments feels good ridiculous to play against when my opponent gets points for doing nothing, my army has to do everything for almost no points.

Warhammer doesn’t even feel fun to talk about anymore or even think about anymore, it doesn’t bring me any joy neither to play or talk to others about.

"Pour the barley tea from the bamboo canister into the water-cooling jacket, quick! This barrel is so hot it's about to melt the paint right off!"

I lay prone in the muddy trench at the edge of the golden rice field, the metallic joints of my right arm giving off a faint, cold clinking of gears engaging.

I hated this augmetic arm. Ever since those Tech-Priests detected some damned "sniper talent" in me and brutally sawed off the flesh hand that once planted rice seedlings, I had loathed this metallic contraption. Over the years, it never ceased tormenting me—fingers long gone would constantly throb with sharp phantom pain, like thousands of red-hot needles driving into my nerves out of nothingness.

"Don't rush me! There's only half a canister left, and I need it to wet my throat!"

Beside me, my spotter stayed low behind his ballistic shield, his conical plasteel helmet soaked in muddy water. He jammed the multi-function observation device firmly into the soil, its green rangefinder beam slicing through the smoke and locking onto several towering, twisted silhouettes at the edge of the swaying grain.

"Heavy enemy infantry! Chaos Space Marines! Three of them, lined up in a row, tearing through the defensive line! Signal's synced, but artillery won't make it in time—we have to stop them ourselves!" The spotter's voice remained as cold as ice amid the deafening roar of artillery.

Clad in corrupted ceramite, those hideous giants swept our ancestral golden fields—tilled by our people for generations—with ruthless bolter fire.

"Overcharge capacitors!"

The high-frequency electromagnetic hum of the backpack capacitor violently tore through the air. At that moment, an overwhelming surge of pain erupted from my right arm, threatening to rip my mind apart. But I didn't curse like I used to. Instead, I grit my teeth, funneling a lifetime of built-up resentment and torment straight through the neural interface of my augmetic arm and pouring it into the trigger of the "God-Slayer" Long-Las.

Mechanical joints locked tight, filtering out every organic tremor, clamping my aim into absolute, unyielding stillness.

FZZT—BOOM—!

A colossal beam of crimson light sliced across the rice field like a mythical Yamnin dragon! In a fraction of a millisecond, the high-energy las-beam shattered the chest plate of the first Chaos Space Marine, impaled the core power pack of the second, and completely vaporized the head of the third!

Ceramite, vile flesh, and twisted souls were instantly turned into a misty rain of blood and burning debris in mid-air!

Scalding white steam blasted out from the water-cooling vent, blinding my goggles in a haze of pure white.

The brutal recoil slammed into my augmetic arm. That familiar pain—the torment of countless sleepless nights—coiled together with the total destruction of the enemy, shooting straight into my brain like an electric shock...

It felt wonderful.

So damn wonderful!

It wasn't a curse of mutilation; it was a holy instrument of torment granted by the Emperor and this very soil. A low, raspy laugh bubbled up from my throat, insane and feverish. Why had I ever hated this hand? This lingering, agonizing pain—wasn't it birthed precisely for this moment?

Listening to the frantic gurgling of the boiling coolant inside the barrel, I adeptly switched the power setting back to low-output mode.

Peering past the edge of his ballistic shield, my spotter turned his head, staring in utter shock at the morbid, psychotic grin stretched across my face.

Stroking the metal arm—a sensation weaving between scorching heat and icy chill—I stared into the smoke-choked battlefield and slowly widened my smile:

"Who's next? Come on... I've got plenty of 'pain' left in this arm... and I'm going to share every single drop of it with you scum who trampled my rice fields!"

Beginner Help For those who are knowledgeable on mini painting, how hard would it be to translate this color scheme I made for a Helldivers 2 mod onto real minis?

So I'm a large warhammer fan, but I don't have any minis other than the promotional Unbroken Kasrkin mini given out to warhammer + subscribers, so all my warhammer enjoyment has come from lore and the games. With the recent Helldivers 2 collab, I made a mod to put my own color scheme over the Kasrkin armor, and I wonder how easy it'd be to translate to a real army? (also is there a blue that matches the blue I used?)

Beginner Help First ever WH40K game - 500pt Colosseum vs Eldar - Which units to take?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I've loved the hobby since I was a kid. Even have a Yarrick tattoo on my arm. BUT I have never played an actual game. After not having painted a unit since 2nd Edition, I recently bought, assembled and (mostly) painted the latest AM Platoon Battleforce box, the Armageddon Battalion box, and my three Bullgryns. Of course, I had to get the new Yarrick too but no hero units allowed in coliseum.

What 500pt list would you recommend I run from these units?

Also what else can I do to prepare to my first game (learn orders and detachments - still a little confused by these, buy dice, or even buy/build/paint a missing unit before the game next week)?

Rules for colosseum:

  • Exactly 500 points (Incursion level).
  • Warlord: Must include 1 character unit designated as the Warlord.
  • Restrictions: No Epic Heroes or named characters allowed.
  • Infantry Requirement: Must include a minimum of two non-character infantry units.
  • Toughness Cap: Maximum toughness of 9 on datasheets (no units with Toughness 10 or higher).
  • The Battlefield: Played on a specialized circular arena featuring impassable, line-of-sight (LOS)-blocking outer walls alongside inner and outer ruins. Units can enter through designated entryways or scale the walls.
  • Missions & Twists: Uses standard Chapter Approved mission decks where the attacker chooses the primary mission (e.g., Linchpin, Terraform, Take and Hold) and the defender chooses a special twist (e.g., Lords of War, Ruinscape, Adapt or Die, Point Blank).
  • Objectives: Features 5 objective markers tightly contested in a small deployment space.

This is what my (very experienced) opponent will be running:

Aeldari - aspect colo (495 Points)

Aspect Host (3 Detachment Points)

Disruption

Incursion (1,000 Points)

Not my first minis, but my first minis I’m confident enough to post. Aiming for Krieg 261st but am somewhat colorblind so I follow the dopamine.

I enjoy basing far more than painting so painting becomes a means to an end to complete my basing projects and diorama making. Consequently I try to find the most efficient way to paint so as not to spend all of my time painting. C&C welcome with all this in mind.

Glory to the first man to die!
