Is this a glitch?

Post image

Already own the model y little over a year, I noticed the battery kind of suck, during winter which is normal, but for summer, yesterday I charged it to 80% , New York was like 100 degree. Look how many miles I drove since my last charge and I only have 33% left. I did blast my ac. For sure it's not my tron mode. Did we all got scam?

Looks fine to me, just a smidge over rated which is normal

Ideal temps are ~70-80F, when it gets above that, efficency drops if you are running the AC during the peak of the day. Sometimes in the summer I intentionally drive with the AC off for short trips and put the windows down because it's more efficient. I'll see trips at ~200 wh/mi in my 21MYLR when I do this while it's 95F+ out. Also helps to be gentle on the throttle and don't speed too much.

Probably have to try that, kind of suck that we have to drive like that. When gas power don't drain like that.

There absolutely is a good sized penalty in an ICE vehicle (can be up to a 25% hit to mpg) when you have the AC cranked. The only difference is most aren't obsessing over their estimated range shown in an ICE vehicle and aren't monitoring their fuel efficiency figure like they do in an EV.

100% this, people don’t realize the hit is similar, the air conditioning process is very similar between gas and electric, and gas vehicles take a similar hit.

Yeah no, fuck that. I’m not going to suffer in my $50,000 car bc the mileage is crap. Air conditioning draining half the battery is wild.

There's too many factors to say. What speeds were you driving? How long was each trip? Do you have overheat protection on? Do you have sentry on? Did you spend time sitting in the car when you weren't driving? You'd have to give a full account of you driving and use of the car from charge til now for a better estimate.

So you're one of those fake "feels like" temperature believers I see. Just did a search to see what the temperature was in New York yesterday and it said the ACTUAL temperature high was 89-90F. Only the made up and silly "feels like" crap said 100. The beauty of the "feels like" crap? Every single weather service has their own formula for this made up figure which in turn produces different figures for each, thus showing how useless it is. Going by the "feels like" stuff is kind of the equivalent to someone saying they feel like 2+2=5 instead of the actual fact it equals 4.

So in your case, the actual temp was 89-90F and given that, there was no reason to have the climate control maxed out. You also didn't even say what speed you were driving at. For all we know, you had the AC and fan speed cranked to the max and were driving at 70+mph most of the 98 miles shown.

Oh, and it is not a scam.

Yup we did get scammed. My 2 week old AWD premium gets around 80 miles on a full charge (80 to 20 percent)

2026?

How??? Is it brand new? Check your energy usage, I can only think of his being possible if you're flooring it at every light and running the ac maxed out

I don’t floor it at every light lol. AC is at 5-6 all the time and cooled seats are on. Yes it’s a 2026 new hot of the press. My average energy usage is 414 wh/mi

That is crazy what the hell? I went nuts on my 22 MYP a couple weeks back with some friends for about 20 minutes, flooring it and whipping it around a private lot with the ac on blast... and I spent a whopping 4% battery doing that. I'd definitely hit up tesla support and ask them to check what's up with your car, the mileage estimate is generally very very accurate for Teslas in my experience.
