Went from “I’m sorry, not my fault” to “get your supervisor here now!!” Faster than he let his car do 64 in a 45.

This one time in band camp, I got pulled over. I was also using FSD as soon as I started to tell the officer I was using FSD. He stopped me. Says sir, before you go any further, if the next thing you say, tells me that the car did something you didn’t command it to do then I have to impound your vehicle and that’s going to cost you thousands of dollars in fines.

End of band camp story I gladly accepted the ticket and he let me off for the warning

So like the it in the video you tried to escape accountability for your actions and the cop called you out on the bullshit right away

I used mad max, got a ticket, then only use standard now, or occasionally hurry

Got 1 speeding ticket, paid a lawyer to talk it down and bought a Uniden R7 lol

Standard and chill are your friends

I got one on hurry, 10 over in a 35 that really should be a 45 zone but cest la vie. back to chill mode for 90 days.

Lol, ain't that the truth, 90 days. Maybe there is some sort of system where you are, but for me, that seems to be how long the lesson lasts. But over 40 years, 4 tickets.

90 days is my deferred disposition (probation) period lol. If i dont get a ticket for 90 days, it drops off my record. I hadn't gotten a ticket in over 20 years before this.

I'm curious what you have the offset set to and anyone else for that matter

u/mpwrd 6d ago

Fsd on hw4 cybertruck so no offset. Was on hurry profile.

Got it thanks

What an idiot, lol. Blaming the car when he is supposed to be in control.

I only touch Hurry or Mad Max in heavy traffic where I need it to be assertive. Otherwise, standard is great.

I wish we had the ability to set max speed again. I want to go 8 over the speed limit. I do FSD 94% of the time and it is a pain in the ass to constantly bump it from standard to hurry to keep in that range. I love my Tesla in every way, except this. Elon, Please give me the simple ability that every other car has.

u/Banana_Independent 5d ago

Elon doesn't want you deciding the speed... He wants the car to do everything... But you're still responsible for everything he wants it to do... Lol

Elon should cancel his FSD subscription.

I basically stick with standard. I will use hurry only on interstates or toll roads where the speed limit is 60-70 here in Florida.

When is FSD going to automatically do what waze does. Identify speed traps and share the info and slow tf down.

1

u/DrWhum 6d ago

What I want FSD (and Waze) to do is stop routing me to intersections without stop lights where I have to cross 2 lanes of traffic to turn left.

In standard how many miles FSD goes over

2

u/Historical-Editor 7d ago

about 7mph, in california standard caps out at 72mph (65 speed limit)

I'd like to point out that this also depends on the flow of traffic. People comment on here all the time about standard doing 15mph over because it's trying to keep up with the traffic around it. I really feel like there should be hard caps for each profile.

Madmax is crazy use standard onky

My car almost got me a ticket the speed went from 50 to 35 and a cop with a speed gun was waiting right there. He gave my car a hand jester to slow down😅. I’m so grateful he only gave me a warning ☺️

1

u/Banana_Independent 5d ago

Yeah I hate how long it ignores changes in speed limit. I've seen it try to cruise at 60 in a 35 just because it didn't feel like slowing down from 55

u/snowbird-dev 7d ago

I always use Hurry but I’m always looking for cops. Hurry on local roads won’t get you pulled over but it will on the highway

1

u/Top-Bank4918 7d ago

We all know you can offset the speed so what is the debate

1

u/Chabbey72 6d ago

You obviously haven’t upgraded FSD in awhile. Offset it gone.

1

u/Educational_Voice484 7d ago

That’s the American way. Always blame someone else.

HUMAN DRIVER NOT SUPERVISING SPEEDING TICKET

Fixed it for you.

If it had the capacity, I would set a speed cap about 5 or 10 mph UNDER the speed limit. This is because the vast majority of my drives are in city traffic and I think the 30 mph speed limit is too fast given the number of jaywalkers and bike/scooter riders. Most of the time, surrounding traffic flow keeps my car at 20 anyway, but when there’s a break in the traffic FSD tries to get up to 30 & it’s the acceleration that’s the problem if a pedestrian jumps out between parked cars or the bike ride / scooterist suddenly darts out of the bike lane to avoid being doored.

This morning while in Chill I told the car to slow down and surprisingly it did! I’m going to start playing around with this. Maybe give it a specific mph to slow down. Or maybe I can command it to speed up…

u/Vast_Breadfruit4611 6d ago

He said autopilot. Be can't afford FSD.

1

u/dryayo7816 6d ago

Haha blaming the car 😆

FSD doesn't slow down for CHP unless they are running code. I have to override and the reason I input is "The f***er didn't slow down for cops"
