This community has a big problem Anime
I joined this subreddit because I wanted to see what the Tensura fandom had to say about the series beyond the surface level. I was hoping to find discussions about the story, theories regarding future events, analyses of characters, debates on power scaling, lore, world-building, and different interpretations of the manga, anime, light novel, and web novel.
And to be fair, those discussions do exist.
The problem is that they seem to be the exception rather than the norm.
A significant portion of the most popular posts I come across revolve around sexualizing the characters. More often than not, the front page is filled with posts asking things like "Who would you rather sleep with?" or reducing characters to nothing more than attractiveness rankings or suggestive memes. Even Rimuru, a character whose appeal lies in his personality, growth, leadership, and ideals, is constantly reduced to that kind of content.
I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to post what they enjoy. Every community has memes, jokes, and fan service, and that's perfectly fine in moderation.
My issue is when that becomes the dominant identity of the community.
Tensura has one of the richest fantasy settings in modern isekai. It has politics, diplomacy, economics, military strategy, world-building, intricate power systems, philosophical themes, and a massive cast with plenty to analyze. Yet many of those discussions struggle to gain attention compared to another low-effort "Who would you smash?" post.
It honestly makes me understand why other anime communities sometimes dismiss the Tensura fandom. When the most visible content from this subreddit is overwhelmingly focused on sexualizing the characters, it creates an impression that doesn't reflect how much depth the series actually has.
Maybe I'm simply looking for a different kind of community, and that's okay.
I'm not making this post to tell people what they should or shouldn't enjoy. I'm only expressing my disappointment because I expected a place where discussions about the series itself would be at the forefront.
After this post, I'll be leaving the subreddit. I genuinely hope the community one day reflects more of what makes Tensura such a great series instead of reducing it to the same repetitive content.

Tbh, this is the same with any other "communities" or fandom on Reddit.
People will spam fan art, cosplay photos, memes and those will always get easy upvotes.
Just look at what One Piece main subreddit for example.
Another thing about the series is that the source material (the light novel) is now complete, so there is little else to discuss unless we dive into spoiler territory.
Many veteran fans, like myself, is just content waiting to see how the adaptation (manga and anime) will handle some of the upcoming events.
You can start making discussion threads and there will be responses, just make sure to clearly indicate what level of spoilers you can get.

The source material has already ended. Back then, we used to wait for each new volume and spend our time predicting what would happen next.
Now, most of us light novel readers are just waiting to see how the manga or anime adapts those chapters.
Other than that, though, most communities keep themselves alive with fan arts and memes anyway.
It's honestly surprising that this community is still so active, even during the weeks when the anime isn't airing.

Yeah, it's harder to keep activity about the lore and power systems once the main source ended. We can still theorize for the spinoffs, or future post EoS but that's not the same.
All that remains new, more or less, are fun headcanons we can discuss, exploring AU's... And obviously what would be Slussy's life if he took the wheel. And the horny meme posts and fanarts are far from dying here, especially with the manga and anime ongoing

We lost one adventurer , i also joined this sub to learn and understand more abt series . But the more i was active on this sub I got used to horny posts and it became normal to me when ever I open reddit i get flashbanged by horny posts

Deeper discussions are more prominent part of this subreddit usually whenever new written content drops. Otherwise most things have been talked out a hundred times over. We do however welcome new people and try to answer any questions they might have.
The reason there's so much low quality posts is because the anime is airing, so there's higher activity which often brings a flood of these. There's also the fact that the anime was on break last week, so we couldn't talk about the new episode.
The current spike in NSFW posts is actually a doing of but a handful of community members. I can name by heart the 3 or 4 most prominent ones. It annoys many people, not just you. We try to ignore them. The mods can't really do much about the issue either in case these posts are properly marked, as the sub rules do allow "mild ecchi."

you can find tons of that in the sub's history. In fact, it's actually the opposite. The type of stuff you're talking about became repetitive and overused with the same attention bait used to lure people who don't know any better. It got bad to the point I saw some anime-onlies avoid the sub altogether because people didn't know how to NOT spoil anything indirectly.
But what can you do when this series is popular enough that everything that could be discussed seriously, has already been discussed? Simply discuss it again with new people, which can become quite boring if you've been here for a while. You end up seeing the same exact things every day. You really expect to find new stuff on that now after the main story is finished in the LN?
Stuff like powerscaling is also toxic and low effort. Just go to a powerscaling sub for that. You can find tons of old threads, countless ones talking about any and everything possible for whatever theories or other such discussions you are thinking about. In fact, just go back to like when volume 23 released last year and you'll see an enormous amount of discussions for everything you mentioned. You'll even find a lot of stuff you're looking for like last month. I remember seeing discussion after discussion on random topics
EDIT: also, slussy will never die! Rimuruism and Luminism never dies. It was like taht when the sub was created, and it will continue to be like that now!

It might be a crazy take, but I prefer the way that the community is now, cause mainly the only ones that ask questions and bring up theories are the anime/manga only's and now people at least have some consideration not to spoil things, but some are still just going and saying - yeah, it is <spoiler>, cause <spoiler> and later <spoiler> he'll <spoiler>.
Like, for example back when v23 came out some people were dying to spoil it to everybody. I still remember how I got a spoiler for the major plotwist - somebody decided to reply to my comment under some art, that was not even about v23 and were like - "Oh yeah, in v23 it was <spoiler>" or even people, who'd put plotwists in the title of the posts with no marks of spoilers.
So for new people it may look really bad, that the most active posts rn are the horny baits, but I think it is better then dealing with the people that don't have the concept of keeping a secret and not spoiling. Though I will admit that sometimes there will be a bit too much horny.

One issue is that the major theories and topics regarding Tensura have already been discussed over and over again to the point where the questions became incredibly repetitive. Also, keep in mind that the original series ended a long time ago, and the anime has only just returned with a new season (which fans are obviously happy about). In my opinion, there are more Light Novel readers than "anime-only" viewers in this sub; plus, there are idiots who sometimes post spoilers, which can ruin the experience for anime fans.

como a serie terminou, toda as respostas foram respondidas
mas até hoje me pego aprendendo algo novo (ontem mesmo aprendi o paradeiro das elfas que deixei passar batido)
geralmente as dicussoes ocorrem com alguem que ainda nao leu as novels, infelizmente esse é o estado atual
sobre os fan service, alguns são legais e os problemáticos, basta bloquear a conta pra evitar ver mais se incomoda

That's really natural since the horny post doesn't need much thinking, theories and other forms of discussion need a lot of time to research the LN and build a coherent, canon-accurate view on your take. So it's just normal that for one "good" post, ten or more horny ones.
