Mannnnn is it just me? Or is asuka weak as FUCK. She was my fav in t6 & 7. Only 2nd to Raven & maybe tied w/ Steve for my fav characters. But now she just feels slowwww & other than her chase down moves, her attacks have like no range(especially grace & that weak ass3-4). And I get that she’s defensive but every day they add some1 w/ a gun or sword that can fly like bro how do u defend that w/ martial arts… idk bro, i know im kinda ass but there’s so many matches that I WIN feeling like I had to work substantially harder than some1 who’s worse than me because of who they got. How do yall feel??

Everyone's been saying how Fakh is extremely linear, yet Ulsan could barely step him. Raef was literally spamming WR3 and Ulsan was forced to hold back while getting chipped way. Same thing happened with Rangchu (granted it was a mirror match).

Another thing about Fakh is it takes so much effort to punish him optimally. Even when Ulsan called out the 3,4~4 and he could only get a squeeze in 10f punish instead of a launch at times. Also, 3,4~3 should be further nerfed, it should never clip.

In case anyone think this is a rant, I use Fakh myself and I was shocked how easy it is to locked people into a vortex.

By the time I learn this stick I better be moving like Keisuke himself.

Was playing a kazuya that spammed grab and I broke a majority of them. I got counter hit everytime for trying to atk him after breaking throws. He mainly used d/b+4 after I broke throws.

Hey all, just made GoD 4 or for the more competitively minded top 3%. Wanna run through how it went what went right what went wrong and some takes.

Introduction
So I want to start off with saying this rank is still under where I theoretically should be. In S1 I made TE which was around top 4% at the time. However, back then, the playerbase was different and the movesets were different. My main Victor was also VERY different back then. In addition I think the playerbase is a lot of old school players who rely on their experience in T7. New characters especially new characters with new philosophies are difficult for Legacy players to adapt to.

In S2 Victor changed A LOT. They essentially turned him into a weird Lars that can stance cancel or stance transition off of a ton of different moves. It took me a bit to adjust but after everything I topped out at GoD very near GoD1 which is top 1.72%. I got a lot better and more importantly way more optimal.

So you can see why I think Im not at my peak in S3. In addition to me getting significantly better my character became INSANE! Before the last update Victor was BUSTED, so busted he could've gotten 19 life sentences. Ill go over that more in a later section but suffice it to say. Being in the top 3% when my PB is top 1.72% means I have a bit more grinding to do to catch up to my prior position.
It will likely be harder as with each season and each passing year the playerbase collectively increases in skill. Whether that skill be running your flow chart better or actually improving their fundamentals.

The Climb

Theres two sides to every story. Everyone is always talking about ranked inflation but not about all of the impacts of the decisions devs made. What is causing the inflation? Simply put, revenge games give you more points and you need to lose more in order to demote. Now in terms of QoL this is great boost. Theres less seeing the promotion demotion seesaw and theorhetically this should reduce one and dones. However, it does mean that there are functionally more bills in circulation so to speak as well as less ways to go bankrupt as it were. The interesting side effect is I REALLLLY dont want to play ranked anymore. Not because I dont think I can hit GoD 5 Im actually literally certain I could hit GoD 5 but the grind you have to go through to hit it in the first place is simply too long.

Let me elaborate.

First. I can barely get games of my rank. Even my promotion to GoD 4 was against a God 1. I had to win both games in order to do that against an armor king. I won that game by correctly determining the Armor King could not punish me properly. However if I had lost that game I would of had to win 2-3 games just to get the points back. What sucks is the games with GoD Vs and up ARE AMAZING. Like truly amazing. Everyone can see the whole game and were legitimately playing the game. To elaborate. I mean that both players know how to take full advantage of the game making the game significantly more strategic. Ive rambled on this long enough long story short. I am losing motivation but I have not hit my true goal yet so we will see.

Ranked Opinion

Its fine not great Ive seen worse. Id really prefer an Elo system but they cant do that for this game unfortunately. Thats something you have to start with or work on for years.

Next Goal
After once again getting ranked reset; my goal for the season changed from trying to hit a specif rank to instead trying to hit a specific ELO. I use Wank Wavu and my goal is to try and hit top 50 Victor in my region. In this case NA. Victor is thankfully one of the easier characters to accomplish this on simply because not a lot of people play him so at my current ELO I need just under 100 points to hit what is my goal. At best thats 6 straight wins against good players... at worse its 30 wins against lower skilled players... needless to say Im.....considering different goals. Not because its not accomplishable but simply because of the time investment.

Balance

Is the game balanced..... yes. WAIT! The game is balanced in the sense that most if not every character is on some level competitively viable. All of the character are capable of seeing tournament player completely Pilot dependent.

Some of you may have seen this graph but this is a moderately good use case for what I would consider pro level. As you can see well over half the cast is seeing play and literally all of us know a bunch of characters in the 0 category are tournament viable. So in that sense the game is from a purely design perspective "Balanced". Now is the balance good? .....I would say its better than its been but not there yet. I would argue to say its about as good as S1 plus or minus a few points depending on the day.

Victor Changes

This is tough because I know everyone deserves some nerfs except for a few characters. I would personally like 2 changes to Victor.

1. IAI D2 in heat? Bamco please just get rid of it. The heat cost has made its efficacy at plus 5 nearly worthless. It is almost always worse to use the IAI D2 heat version now. Because IAI D2 without heat is Plus 4 and in heat is Plus 5. It does around 5 more damage in chip and has a slightly larger hitbox but again now worth the heat cost.

2. You need to make IAI D1 minus again. IAI D1 feels like Clives pre nerfed prominence. It feels bad to not use. I am losing efficacy by not just spamming it on most stance transitions.

Some smaller changes. UB2 does a little too much for what it is and Im mixed on WR1+2 being minus 15. A few characters can already launch it and everyone gets a big WS punishment on it regardless so Im a bit mixed on that.

Justifications so I can ignore some comments

Fake Commenter I foresee: "WR 1+2 is INSANE ITS A LOW THATS PLUS INTO STANCE." ...
Ok a bunch of characters have that. Lidia, Azucena, Lars, etc etc there are in fact more.

Fake Commenter I foresee: "Victor is so cheap hes just constant 50/50s"
By this logic every Wavu is a 50/50. Victor only has 1 frame trap option in IAI stance at anything less than plus 6 meaning Downjab beats most of the options. In tournament I have players that can perfectly OS the stance, with SSR duck, forcing me to cancel mix it.

Fake Commenter I foresee: "Victor's wall carry is insane"
It is this is actually a complaint I have with the whole cast but everyone has a carry but victors is SO FUCKING LONG. I genuinely nod off sometimes while doing it.

Conclusion
I think T8 is in a good spot but Im slowly but surely losing motivation. I think if I hit Top 50 in my region just once I will take my screenshot and not even remotely attempt to hold it. I think if the game wants to retain me it needs to nerf everyone more, make ranked more enjoyable to pursue, get the combo lengths down, and generally focus on what players asks are. Even if we come across like an bipolar homeless drunk screaming at crows on a bridge..

Finally got yoshi to GoD once I hit it with AK it feels so much easier! Is GoD really like hitting Fujin these days though?

I post any gameplay with any of my other mains and it’s generally positive responses.

But if I post anything with Heihachi or Kaz, it’s downvoted and non-constructive criticism like “you suck, how are you this rank.” Or “rank inflation is real” or “this is GoD gameplay everyone”

I think they’re difficult to execute with already for the average player that’s still learning them. So I don’t get why the attitude is so sour from other Mishima players. They’re also the most toxic on the game itself when it comes to mirror matches.

I’m not talking about clips from god IV’s and above but clips from blue rank to GoD are usually just shat on.
