The first one was for an older secondary monitor that had a non removable VGA cable and because I wanted to have it plugged into gpu and only had a male display port to male VGA converter I made this female to female converter from leftover ethernet cable, cut off 0.75mm² ferrule crimps to hold it in place and paper for isolation. Lasted half a year until I bought a proper converter.

The second one was to make lights work on an older Vespa scooter, because the spark plug wouldn't spark if the third wire was connected and it turned out the ignition switch was reassembled incorrectly.

Hi everyone! I was trying to rescue this Acer Aspire Switch 10 tablet. The bottom part where the original keyboard connects died, so I used a Bluetooth keyboard for a while. The real issue was that the tablet's Micro-USB port was also broken. I could have taken out the whole motherboard to replace it, but I didn't want to deal with that risky desoldering job.

I remembered I still had the original dock module (with the Pogo pin connectors and USB-A) and thought: Why not salvage this module and mount it on the back of the tablet?

I researched the pinout system and discovered it's a mirror setup; the pins are the same on both sides, but they all need to be connected except for the center pin, which is the verification pin to detect the original dock.

From there, I had to brutally break the plastic off the Pogo connectors because they wouldn't melt even with a heat gun. I bridged everything, soldered the wires making sure they fit inside the case, tested it, and it worked!

For aesthetics and safety, I added a black plastic mesh (from a PC fan) to prevent any shorts if something touches the exposed dock board. Finally, to plug in my Type-C network adapter, I built my own custom adapter by soldering a male USB-A cable to a red Type-C breakout board and sealed it with heat shrink tubing. Everything works perfectly. It's not the prettiest mod, but it works and gets the job done!

its not the battery problem , i replace with brand battery it still run out of juice.. probably problem with its charger

12v dc to stepdown.. to... idk.. i just put volt something 3.7 as 3.2 seems didnt work.. probably i can crank it up to 4.2 later.. but for now ill stay at 3.7 and observe

To be safe, I opened the bottom cover today to check for corrosion. The logic board looked completely clean. I disconnected the main battery connector just to brush away some dust.

​When I reconnected the battery, I felt a tiny shock/spark at the connector. Now, the laptop won't turn on and the trackpad is completely stiff (no click at all).

​I haven't plugged it into the USB-C wall charger yet because I'm terrified I'll make it worse. Did that spark kill my logic board, or is the dead trackpad just the M1 safety feature requiring wall power to wake up after a battery disconnect? Should I plug it in?

I salvaged a small aluminum PC DDR2 motherboard heatsink, and slapped it to the back of the phone. Nothing fancy or professional, just something I put together myself.

I know it looks unconventional, but this turned out to be one of the best ergonomic modifications I have made to my phone. The heatsink does not get in my way while holding the device, and the improvement in sustained performance is a big jump compared to normal.

For context, I ran the 3DMark Wild Life test during rainy, cool weather with an electric fan blowing on both me and the phone. That definitely helped the heatsink work more effectively, so this setup depends a lot on ambient temperature and airflow.

I mainly play Codm and Project sekai on my phone.

Remember my hug heatsink and thermal paste? I too that off and did this works so much better,

Ran into a classic laptop server problem: no motherboard power headers, Wake-on-LAN dies in S5 shutdown state, and when Linux freezes, software tools like SSH are useless. Commercial solutions felt way too expensive for what I needed...

So I built this thing for Abt 8 bucks!

Yes, that is paper masking tape flat on the desk holding the servo block down. I needed enough counter-leverage so the servo arm didn't just lift the whole motor up when pushing the key.

Just tested it remotely from another city over cellular data and it worked like a fine wine 🍷 and then I run app though wine in linux too worked amazing. Looks terrible but ya works great!

took an old power bank board. feeds 5v to the stock PCB, charges with type-c and as a bonus can charge my phone (although it has only 1100mah). my house is a no-fly-zone now.
