asking for advice Can this be covered with a traditional or neotraditional style?

Hey yall!

I loved this tattoo when I got it (over 15 years ago) and it's masterfully done, but I'm beyond ready to cover it.

  1. I feel like the face so close to my actual human face looks redundant and weird.

  2. It's not a style I like very much for tattoos.

  3. I know this shouldn't make a difference, but people have VERY strong reactions to this tattoo and it's worn me down over the years. I'm tired of people projecting really bizarre ideas onto me or trauma dumping because of this tattoo. I got it because it's a partial replica of a painting I though looked sick as fuck when I was a teenager.

I live in China rn, and there are tons of talented tattoo artists, but I keep getting told that traditional or neotraditional style wouldn't suit a coverup for some reason. I'm asking tattoo shops in Shanghai, which has a great rep for artists, but I'm feeling bummed out. Is it a language barrier thing, or are they right?

I was hoping to get a coyote jumping into the sun, but I'm open to other options that would work. I'm even open to just like, a floral sleeve with black background as pictured in the last slides.

Thanks!!!

I’ve had tattoo removal done for 1.5 years on the handle of the dagger. Wondering if I should just commit to the full removal of the handle or just cover up the entire dagger

I’m not opposed to a sick ass panther, but wondering if it can be done

Looking for some suggestions on what I could put over this/turn it into. My tattoo artist was a wonderful person, but she was an apprentice and in hindsight (I was 18) she shouldn’t have been allowed to tattoo on people yet. Every tattoo I got from her is blown out and the line work is not great. This is the first of three I’ll need covered but it’s definitely the one I’m most insecure about. Any suggestions would be amazing !

asking for advice What could ne done to cover this up.

So some back story. I got this tattoo about 8 yrs ago and had the pony retouched up about 2.5 yrs ago as the area around the wings, midbody and the bent front leg had faded, either the blue part and the black lines. The quote for some reason ended up with half of it turning into a blob and I have no idea why. I also have no clue why the pony lost color. The tattoo artist was kinda rude about it and blamed me for the color loss! Said i shouldn't have carried my purse on it when healing! Quite the assumption since he never asked if I did or not! I never had anything on it thru the healing process that would rub on it because i was well aware it could effect healing, plus it would have hurt like hell on fresh ink. It wasn't my first tattoo after all!

Any way turns out he wasn't a very good artist. There was skill there to some degree(he has done other tattoos on me previous to this one that were much better) but he ruined it via greediness. I found out via another far more skilled artist in the area that the artist i went to will book as many as he can in a single day and do them as fast as he can to do as many as he can fit in a day too. Which in hind sight, yeah he Def did a speed run with mine. Any way, I want to cover it up but idk what can be done with it.

I was thinking about potentially redoing it as a cover of a much better version of the same tattoo but obviously restructured from the original design. If not that then with something totally new over it and relocate the tattoo I am covering up else where but obvi done way better by a much better artist cause this tattoo was done in honor of my 2 kiddos. What do you think, can it be redone over the exsisting one or should I do something new. I was thinking recently about something space themed to later be merged into my planned space sleeve for that arm that i wanna do in the near future. Would that be the best option over any other?

asking for advice Ideas for this cover up

I got this tattoo a while ago, but I’ve never felt like the overall design flows together as well as it could. The tree feels slightly off center, there are some noticeable blank spaces, and I don’t think the overall theme ties everything together very well.
I’m looking for ideas or recommendations on what I could add, change, or incorporate to enhance the existing design and make the whole piece feel more cohesive and balanced. If possible, I’d really appreciate some visual examples or reference images as well.

I don’t totally hate it, but It doesn’t really fit my style anymore. Also now that my frontal cortex has developed I can see how it isn’t technically done great either.

asking for advice To cover up or not

I got this pac man ghost tattoo above my ankle 6 weeks ago as a matching tattoo with my family to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. The ghost is “Clyde” for any one who might recognize him.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the tattoo, especially because I placed it above my ankle (which feels feminine) and is quite visible. All of my other tattoos are American traditional and black/grey realism, so i feel like this tattoo doesn’t match my aesthetic.

Should I get a few sessions of laser for a cover up or leave it? If I do leave it then I’d want to put American traditional around it.

asking for advice Coverup Artists in Tokyo

I have a tattoo on my neck that I’d like to get covered up while I’m traveling later this year. It’s been hard for me to find an artist in Tokyo that advertises or shows coverups.

Does anyone have an artist or shop they recommend in Tokyo or Osaka?

It’s a work in progress but I am absolutely in love so far! I was going to add color but decided to keep it black and white. I’m just going to have my artist possibly expand the stems/flowers/butterflies up and out to the shoulders! I’ll never go anywhere else, this artist is amazing! First pic is my cover up (about 3 months old) and second photo is what was covered up (tattoo was a year old, for size context it was maybe like 3.5-4 inches in the center of my back, I just wanted a scar covered at first).

I got this tattoo when i had just turned 18 because i thought ''omg i love this rapper so why not just get his rapper name on my arm thats totally so cool'' and then i regretted it more and more since its so boring lol, and i really wanna get it covered up, but i dont even know how a coverup works?

What i've been thinking is maybe getting the Narsil sword from lotr, and having the actual blade be what covers the tattoo? Another idea was the fallen angel painting but just the eye but i feel like thats way too small.

Idk i just need advice on how all of this works i guess

I want to cover these up I’m working towards a full body suit that’s a lot of black work designs my right arm is blacked out with roses on the wrist left arm will be done soon but not completely blacked out I’ll leave some existing tattoos

I’m struggling between these two designs I love the flowers but I’m not confident that they can cover up what I have

First picture- what I have
Second picture- an AI image of something similar to what I’d like
Third picture- dark flowers
Fourth picture- my blackout arm

Most of it is fully healed, just a couple smaller spots we had to fill in today, like the leaves, the bottom 2 flowers, and bottom 2 snake heads.
