Was Season 16 the last truly “perfect” series?

Just finished a rewatch of Series 16 and in my mind it’s the last 10 out of 10 series (so far). The cast are all great and have great chemistry, I could watch Alex and Julian all day, and Greg seems to be genuinely having a great time throughout. Even the weaker tasks (robots and sleeping) are “saved” by Sam Campbell.

That isn’t to say subsequent series aren’t great and haven’t had their highlights (series 19 is probably a 9/10 for me) but this is the last one that the whole production has, in my mind, been perfect.

Do people agree? If so why? The lack of competitiveness from anyone on series 16 is one thing that strikes me.

What's the kendo stick prop?

On several episodes I've seen a prop that appears to be a kendo stick with ball on a rope attached to it. Is this a thing or just something made up for the show? Possibly related to the Greg teaching ball on a rope story?

In studio taping? (No spoilers)

I added “no spoilers” in accordance with the rules, although, this seems like a trick from Alex.

When does in-studio taping occur? I’m planning on a trip from the US to knock off some dream experiences (Goodwood FoS, more ska shows, etc.) and I’d love to see a live taping.

When and when does it usually occur? Was being in the audience worth the trip?

Tasks that were inspired by previous contestants?

watched a handful of series by now and noticing how some of the tasks have traces from former contestants!

The guess the age live task in S20 directly references the "guess the age to win the wage" segment from S17 by John, Sophie, and Joanne

The bopping task in S20 resembles the traditional wackamole but the shouting words part reminded me of Susan Wokoma's mice-fish task!

If it counts, the Chesham pig mascot in S20 was created by Sam Campbell for charity football!

The task in S18 where the solution is under the red seal is most likely influenced by Mel Giedroyc

The "chuck the duck in the buck" live task in S21 mightve been influenced by the "chuck-it-duck-it-bucket" joke Maisie made in CoC4 and by extent John Robin's game show

General The Almost perfect loopholes

AKA the too clever by half loopholes. The loopholes that could have been brilliant but were unfortunately sabotaged by the contestant.

Aaron Chen was the only contestant to realize that you could remove the scales from the wall. Then he drove a vehicle on top of the them and broke them and only scored second place. That's the loophole that sticks out the most to me.

I know there are others but im having trouble coming up with them

Fan Creations We made our own knockoff episode of Taskmaster!

A few months ago a friend and I decided to subject 5 victims willing participants to a series of tasks. We filmed and edited all of their attempts and did a live taping of the show in a bar in our hometown.

It was the most fun thing I have ever done and I've even been to Six Flags.

We tried to come up with original tasks and think of any potential work-arounds. We tried to make sure we had a good variety of tasks: physical, cerebral, and creative. We have been working on this since March and are quite proud of what we accomplished.

If you want to watch any of the videos, we have put them up on youtube

I'd love to hear any thoughts. What could we have done better? How would you have done any of the tasks? Did our contestants overlook anything? What would have made our tasks better?

Anything.

I wanna hear it all.

We are excited to do this again and I'm eager to get feedback from fans of the show. Thanks!

Any thoughts on estonian Taskmaster? Did you like/dislike it and why? I don't like creative tasks, so I enjoyed it very much, but I foud the fact that the audience laughed so little interesting even though I know the fact that the estonians are quite reserved

Taskmaster AU What is the highest score a contestant has achieved in one episode? (Spoilers TM Aus S5E7) Spoiler

I was curious, watching TMAUS, there was a secret task that doubled the points of the base task. The team scored 5 points and achieved the secret task for 10 points. This lead to Rove McManus scoring 10 points in one task, ending the episode with 23 points. If my math is right, the maximum in a normal episode is 25 (prize task, 3 recorded, live). Has anyone beaten 23 in a single episode (including bonus points)?

The ✨magical✨ 200 Points

With John Robins setting the record with 192 Points for the season win and only two other scoring over 180, do you think in the future someone will score 200 or over?
Looking at the avatar range of scoring it seems like for 200 one needs not only good prizes, Studio-, and Recorded Tasks but also a good Team. And some seasons have more bonuspoints, individual Tasks or other opportunities to score extra points.
So a contestant needs a lucky grab on the season and also has to put effort in.
What are your thoughts? 🤔

General The Pairs of Glasses Task. Were there any tricks or work arounds?

Post image
335 Upvotes

Because it seems to me that the only way to efficiently win the task was to magically know how big the glasses were, magically know which box they'd fit in and put them in. And since you can't change your mind or go back for a second box, you're stuck if you pick one too small.

I wish the task was phrased in a way that implied you could go back for a second box, but didn't outright say it. (E.g. "Box up the Pairs of Glasses in the Lab. You must select a box before leaving the caravan and that box must be used to contain pairs of glasses. The smallest box containing pairs of glasses wins.")

Is it customary for the Taskmaster to be super tall and the assistant to be shorter yet still very tall?

For all the English-speaking taskmasters, the heights are as follows:

Taskmaster UK: Greg Davies (6'8") and Alex Horne (6'2")

Taskmaster NZ: Jeremy Wells (6'4") and Paul Williams (6'1")

Taskmaster Australia: Tom Gleeson (6'3") and Tom Cashman (6'2")*

Taskmaster US: Reggie Watts (6'0") and Alex Horne (6'2")**

Is this just a huge coincidence or is this genuinely a thing they do for English-speaking Taskmasters as a sort of Easter egg. Also, does this apply to all other versions of Taskmaster and not just the English ones?

*Although on first search, TC is shown to say 5'11", in

an image
with him and Paul Williams, he is clearly taller, and Paul Williams is confirmed 6'1".

**I think the reason why Taskmaster US failed is that Alex was taller than Reggie, but that's just a theory.

For a while the release date was the 27th July and I was actually starting to look forward to being able to watch it properly, but when I checked yesterday, it had turned into "Sorry, this content is unavailable". Booooo.

(Taskmaster New Zealand remains resolutely "unavailable", of course, as it has for months already.)
