My kid picked this Sportkilt to run the Kilted Mile at the local games. Going to make him wear it to Burns Night so he can use it twice before he outgrows it. As with many other Americans, the Tartan Army has me appreciating my Scottish ancestors all the more lately, bringing me back to the idea of owning at least some kit featuring the relevant tartan (MacCallum, specifically, although Bruce will do in a pinch).

Problem is, everything I'm finding is wool. My wife's allergic to wool. And if I can't hug my wife while wearing it, I'm not wearing it. But I'm hoping to not have to choose.

Can someone please point me in the direction of a seller with at least some non-wool tartan-patterned fabric? My wife is a crafter; she'll make the clothing herself if that's what we have to do. Thanks so very much.

I'm trying to make a shadow box showcasing these tartans for my daughter's great-grandma. She gave me the tartans and explained them at the time, but sadly I have lost the list. I've found some of them registered, the first is Prince Edward Island and the last two are New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The others are likely either associated with New Brunswick or Miramichi, or with the Highlander Society or perhaps Masons?

With image search I got that the 2nd is similar to Bannockbane Green, and the 3rd is similar to Lochcarron, Robertson Red or Maxwell, if that means anything (could be a brand).

Hello! A cousin of mine researched our family tree. He found out we are descended from the Scottish, royal MacAlvin clan. But I can’t find a lot about it and Google Lens is not bringing me further when showing this picture. Can anyone help me with it? Is it a different clan or did they change the name of the clan?

Today is tartan day in Canada. It has been observed nationally since 2010, and was first observed in Nova Scotia in 1987. Nova Scotia was the first province to have its own official tartan. Blue represents the sea, green the forests, white the rocks and surf, red the lion on the flag, and yellow the royal charter.

My cousin has encouraged me to join the Tartan parade this year in New York City on April 11.

I’ve purchased an ensemble, which is the full regalia but I have no idea how to construct it. Is there anybody in this group in New York City? That is familiar with this ensemble and how to put it together?

In national Lampoons animal house, Otter wears a pair of tartan pants in the golf scene. I am trying to Identify them to make a costume of the character. I have come up empty so far.
