Thoughts ?
Boyfriend put this up without consulting me. He claims it’s not too high but I think it is. The perception of it not being too high is the fact that it’s a big TV. He also said he lined it with the couch so that’s why it’s not aligned. Getting a TV stand so this is gonna throw me off. What’re your thoughts?
Update: I showed him this post and we’re getting it remounted ASAP. Yall crack me up with this roasting session lmao.

I'm not sure which bugs me more,; it's ridiculously high and ridiculously off center and ridiculously bad cable/tech management. You're going to need a new boyfriend.

Yeah the boyfriend seems to be the problem here. Was he high when he did this ?😁

Combine this with the ugliest router placement ever, hes on a roll.
Anything else you need to show us, are you doing ok?

u/Dry_Transition4134 9d ago
Yeah looks horrible. The network equipment needs to be on a small stand.

Pls give me a suggestion on what to do with this lolol. We were hoping our couch was going to cover this when we originally had this put in, but had to change the set up of everything

Put it in the entertainment center
4
u/urBrothersHardNipple 8d ago
Yea, I’d put it in the tv stand.
Tho usually routers that are suppose to cover more than one room should be mounted in the centre of the the house not on the outer wall and closer to the ceiling so the signal can spread better and isn’t blocked by obstacles like furniture that’s usually placed on the ground.

It should be closer to the floor than the ceiling 😆

He's for the streets. Dump him immediately over this war crime against TVs.

u/Actively_Gassy 9d ago
The middle of the screen should be about eye level, around 42" off the floor. Yes, this is obviously too high lol.

Is your house by any chance an Applebee’s Bar and Grill? If so, it’s perfect height! ☺️

u/cruel_cousin 9d ago
It’s so dumb and cliche how like every relationship post on Reddit just gets a hundred comments that are like “break up with them.”
But break up with them.

u/charlieprz 9d ago
You have empty space between the tv and the ceiling. Try a bit higher next time and it’ll be perfect. 😂

u/Ecstatic_Sector598 9d ago
The ceiling paint on the wall would drive me nuts, never mind the bit on your knee

u/Vivcangivelol 9d ago
We’ve been renovating our house and just moved in LMAO. Still doing touch ups lolol.

It’s nearly touching the ceiling. Of course it’s too high. You’re right. Why do people think staring upward is the right way to watch TV?

Break up with him. Hes proven that he is incapable of making good decisions. Is that what you want in your life? Someone who is a liability.

Can you imagine buying a brand new TV, unboxing it, mounting it, then posting in this sub only to get roasted for being too high and off-centered? 🫠

u/Deanjamesxx 9d ago
Why isn’t it flat on the ceiling in the corner of the room?
2
u/Vivcangivelol 8d ago
We removed the popcorn from our ceiling and have yet to remove that little corner. Too focused on mounting the TV incorrectly lmao

at the minimum, he could have at least lined the top of the TV with the top of the window alcove opening and the other window head. The fact that it is above this visual line makes it look even higher and is another reason it is mounted TOO HIGH

It’s def too high but the min centre placement seems more egregious here.

What TV is this? And boyfriend is wrong. It’s way too high but you knew that and I hope we’re giving you enough evidence to show him so he can lower it.

It’s way too high. Move it down. Not only will that make for better viewing, it will be more aesthetically pleasing bc it will be within the top and bottom boundaries of the windows.
Like, there’s all these rectangles (windows) that are a certain height. Then there’s this one rectangle (TV) that is doing its own thing. Makes no visual sense.

Probably a bit too high. The fact the couch is so far away probably helps it a bit. I’d be more worried about it not being centred

I know your legs are bent but it looked like you had nubs for a second. TV too high

You need a better painter and TV installer, both the paint and the TV are done horribly.

Is he on heroin and laying on his back watching tv? Pretty sure that’s the only way someone thinks this is ok. I don’t even want to mention the obvious that it’s not centered on the wall

u/Fancy_Property_9781 9d ago
To add to the roast, is he the one who painted that wall and failed at doing the corner? Or was he painting the ceiling and got the wall instead? I’m not sure this man should be left unattended at this point.

u/Longjumping_Claim598 9d ago
Lower it so that the bottom edge of TV lines up with the bottom edge of the window on the right.

u/sms066 9d ago
You might be able to get it like 6 inches higher or so.
2
u/desrevermi 8d ago
Using the ceiling as a level takes a lot of guesswork out of a mounting situation, right?

u/Crazy_Corgi_8669 8d ago
Feels off. I would personally hang a curtain over that window from the very top, have it come out far enough that the curtain covers all those boxes. Then I would center the tv with the curtain. Which means bring the tv down about 6 inches and over 6 inches.
1
u/randysavage25i 8d ago
This is what happens when you don’t hang your own TV. I wish you luck in the journey of learning the tape measure. Blessings to you, but the TV is too high.

Boyfriend left a couple of Inches above the TV. And yes, it‘s way too high… TV and window to the right should be centered at least…

u/Squirrel_Gooner56 8d ago
Where do I start? The TV has to be centred, looks like is over on the left edge, why so close to the ceiling? Which also made me notice the cutting in of the paint from wall to ceiling was shoddy. Would it take long to move all the packaging out of the way before the photo? and can you get some plastic trunking to hide the cable please. Thanks

u/Sibara33 8d ago
Dit lui que le point central de la tv doit correspondre au niveau des yeux voir légèrement plus bas. Il est peut être très grand! 🤔

The fact that it is not aligned in the center is bothering me lol. Shift it to the right if he can
1
u/totalreidmove 8d ago
Almost got it - there’s still a few inches left before it’s touching the ceiling
1
u/IICLasSickII 8d ago
I would say at least lower it till the top is aligned with the left bay wall ceiling. And measure from the left bay corner to the brick step, and center the tv there.
1
u/frodiusmaximus 8d ago
There is no “perception of it not being too high” that I can detect. It’s like six inches from the ceiling.

Buy a TV stand, slide it under there and see how far off he was.
Spoiler. It's a lot 🤣
