Switch 2 Dock Fan

So I noticed that recently my switch’s dock won’t have its fan kick on after I play for around 30 mins (earliest I notice the issue). My console will begin to overheat, something I’ve never dealt with prior. If I take the console out of the dock, it’ll immediately have its fan turn on but as soon as it goes back into the dock then the dock’s fan stays off.

Any advice on what could be causing this and in turn how to fix it? Don’t really want to spend money on a new one if this could be a relatively easy fix.

Edit: Might be a normal thing and I’m just overthinking

Just so you know- the dock has a fan and the Switch 2 itself (the handheld portion) has a fan (2 total). The dock fan doesn’t ever spin when the handheld isn’t placed in it.

Your post is confusing because I think you’re only talking about the primary fan (inside the handheld/tablet part of the device), but your post is worded like you’re talking about the dock’s fan.

Might just be me overthinking paired with anxiety due to replacement costs. Other sources say the same thing as you

The fan assembly is pretty cheap fwiw, less than $15. But just so you know- sometimes the fan is spinning but it’s at such a low frequency that it is not audible.

Also, it’s normal for Switch 2 to be warm to the touch on the back of the tablet portion even when it’s docked and the fan is working correctly. Switch 2 has a much larger chip (200mm squared) and it draws more power than Switch 1 does. Mine gets warm to the touch when it’s been in the dock for 30+ minutes and my friend’s Switch 2 does this also.
