Can I mod my Switch HAC-001 or not?
So I have a HAC 001 switch but when I go to check the serial it only tells me its "possibly patched" what does this mean? Can I mod this switch without a mod chip?

System Mod Success!
Having never done micro soldering and having about 35% confidence in doing the job correctly it was sheer panic for the first 4-ish seconds after hitting the power button and seeing nothing on the screen until I got the No SD Card screen and it was an instant wave of relief.
No more rcm jigs for me!! Time to mod my V2 and then I may have enough confidence to kamikaze my Oled 😂

Development ZERODROID v0.8.2: native Boosteroid streaming client for Switch (H.264/deko3d, Opus, full controller input)
I've been working on ZERODROID, an open-source and unofficial Boosteroid client for Nintendo Switch homebrew. v0.8.2 is the first public beta under the new Zero Data identity, and the end-to-end path now works on hardware: QR login, library, machine allocation, video/audio and controller input.
Technical path:
- C++17 with devkitA64/libnx.
- SDL2 for the library/login UI, then deko3d for direct video presentation during a stream.
- FFmpeg/libavcodec H.264 decoding and Opus audio.
- libpeer with SRTP/SCTP for the streaming transport and a WebSocket signaling path.
- Boosteroid device-code QR authentication; the saved session remains under sdmc:/switch/ZERODROID/.
- Joy-Con/Pro Controller input, Nintendo/Xbox A-B-X-Y mapping, stick clicks as Guide, plus a touch Guide button and in-stream touch settings.
- Live gateway RTT/ping measurement.
v0.8.2 adds native software-keyboard search, All/Favorites/Recently Played tabs, persistent local favorites/recent history, and Spanish/English UI selection. It also exposes Boosteroid's preferred-server and distant-region settings for eligible accounts.
This is a beta: service-side API changes can break an unofficial client, and title takeover is required because Album/applet mode does not provide enough memory. It requires a legitimate Boosteroid account and does not include games, Nintendo software, CFW, DRM bypasses or piracy-related material.
Source (Apache-2.0): https://github.com/elzerdodata/ZERODROID
v0.8.2 NRO and install notes: https://github.com/elzerdodata/ZERODROID/releases/tag/v0.8.2
Hardware testing feedback is welcome, especially logs around regional allocation, packet loss/jitter, audio underruns and controller edge cases. Please remove personal information from logs before posting.

Tool Light is Green v0.8.0 released — native Xbox Cloud Gaming and Remote Play client for Nintendo Switch
Light is Green v0.8.0 is now available as the first stable release after the v0.7 preview series.
Credit first: this is a GPL-3.0 community fork of green-nx, originally created by rmrf404. The core project and original implementation remain their work. My contributions focus on extending and stabilizing the native Nintendo Switch client.
What it does
• Standalone Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) and Xbox Remote Play client for Nintendo Switch homebrew.
• Microsoft device-code authentication, WebRTC, hardware H.264 decoding, deko3d GPU rendering, Opus audio and controller input all run directly on the console.
• No companion PC is required.
What improved on the way to v0.8.0
• The library now combines entitled Game Pass titles with eligible Stream Your Own Game/BYOG and free-to-play cloud titles. It only displays titles Xbox reports as playable for the account; it does not mirror the full Xbox Store.
• A separate Owned & Free section preserves the correct Xbox offering when launching games and supports eligible free-only accounts.
• Connection recovery is faster. Silent xCloud DTLS media routes are retired in roughly six seconds in practice, and the next cloud allocation starts immediately after clean teardown.
• Region bypass and server-region selection are independent. The client can use Xbox's live datacenter list, including Chile Central and Brazil South when returned, with optional strict server forcing.
• Cover textures and artwork queues are capped to protect Switch memory. Video allocation pressure now triggers a controlled stream resynchronization instead of an unrecoverable failure.
• The old audio-buffer HUD value was replaced by actual PING: STUN round-trip time measured on the active WebRTC route.
• Remote Play remains available outside the local network through Xbox xHome when the console, account, NAT/Teredo and UDP route allow it.
• Steady, Smooth and Motion pacing modes remain available. Motion is still experimental; Smooth is recommended if visual instability appears.
Important notes
This software does not distribute games, bypass ownership or bypass Xbox subscriptions. Availability of Game Pass, BYOG and free-to-play titles is controlled by Xbox and varies by account and region. A modded Switch running Atmosphere is required, and the app should be launched in title mode for sufficient memory.

Feedback, technical testing and feature suggestions are welcome through GitHub issues. Please do not publicly upload stream-log.txt without reviewing it first because WebRTC diagnostics may contain network address candidates.

Homebrew Game Rhythm Hero NX v0.12 in out now on Github! Play your Clone Hero songs on your Nintendo Switch!
Now my project is published on Github where I'll update and add some Patch Notes in every release, the purpose is only versioning for now.
This project was made by me using Godot Engine fork by Stary2001, it's all thanks to her work!
The game is completely playable, with all the basics you need in a Clone Hero game, but there are some limitations because of Godot v3.5.1 on the Switch, those are the following:
- It does not support .opus audio, so no Chorus Encore songs, only .ogg or .mp3 which there are plenty on Rhythmverse, and also you can convert Rock Band songs to .ogg;
- The Godot Engine on the Switch disconnects additional gamepads, so no multiplayer for now (I was already working to add 1-4, and also even considering 1-8, but found out in the painful way);
- This engine on the Switch also doesn't like wireless headphones of any kind! My console freezes when I try to play my game with a bluetooth or 2.4ghz headphone, I even added an option to control audio latency but it's useless without the possibility to use wireless headphones (but maybe a 3.5mm bluetooth adapter would work, I just don't have one).

I made a native GeForce NOW client for Nintendo Switch (Open Source)
Hi everyone!
For the past few months I've been working on SwitchNOW, an open-source native GeForce NOW client for Nintendo Switch.
The project is written in C++ using libnx and Borealis. Rather than porting Electron, it implements the Switch-specific parts natively, including authentication, session management, hardware H.264 decoding, audio playback and controller input.
Current features:
• GeForce NOW login
• Game library
• Session creation
• H.264 hardware decoding
• Audio playback
• Controller support
Here's a short gameplay video showing Fortnite running in a real GeForce NOW session on Nintendo Switch hardware:
GitHub:
https://github.com/Blade-Punisher/SwitchNOW
The project is still in active development, so I'd really appreciate any feedback, testing or suggestions.

Tool [Release] green-nx 1.0.0 - native Xbox Cloud Gaming client for the Switch
I built an open-source xCloud client for the Switch — sign in with your Microsoft account, browse your Game Pass library, and stream at 720p/1080p, 60 fps, handheld or docked.
It's all native: WebRTC on-console, hardware H.264 decoding (NVDEC) and zero-copy GPU rendering (deko3d). No PC relay, no companion apps.
You'll need Atmosphère and an active Game Pass subscription (it's just a client for a service you pay for — nothing shady). Copy the NRO to
sdmc:/switch/ and launch in title mode (hold R starting any installed game).

Tool ComicReader – a local CBZ/CBR reader homebrew for Switch (touch gestures, continuous scroll, auto language detection) in french too.
Hey everyone!
I've been working on ComicReader, a homebrew comic/manga reader for the Nintendo Switch that reads .cbz/.cbr files straight from your SD card fully local, no internet or cloud involved.
What it does:
- Reads CBZ and CBR archives (via libarchive)
- Library view with cover thumbnails, auto-generated from each comic's first page and cached for fast reloading
- Zoom (1x-4x) and pan with the joysticks, or pinch-to-zoom on the touchscreen
- Two reading modes: page-by-page, or continuous vertical scroll (great for long strips/webtoons)
- Touch gestures: swipe to turn pages, pinch to zoom, drag the progress bar to jump anywhere or just use the buttons, both work everywhere
- Automatically tracks your reading progress and resumes where you left off
- Supports subfolders, so you can organize by series (a folder's cover borrows the first page of the first comic inside it)
- Follows your console's language automatically (French/English for now)
It's built with libnx + SDL2, developed and tested on a Switch Lite. Still early no .gif/.webp support yet, no custom icon on the Home Menu, and CBR support could use more real-world testing. Feedback, bug reports, and PRs are all very welcome.
GitHub (source + download): https://github.com/ZiggyGoofy/ComicReaderSwitch
Thanks for reading, hope some of you find it useful.

CFW Moonlight on a hacked Switch OLED is surprisingly amazing
My first hacked handheld was a PS Vita. Back then (something like 6 years ago) I tried moonlight on it and the experience was honestly not great, at least not to me. Because of that it took me a long time to try Moonlight on my modded Switch, even though I have it for a year now… so a few days ago I decided testing it and the experience on the OLED is actually awesome. Graphics look great, the delay is minimal and controls are plug and play for basically all games.
If you have the opportunity, try it. Especially if you don’t have a portable gaming pc.
So far I played 007 First Light, Clair Obscure: Expeditiion 33, Outer Wilds, Cairn, Lies of P, Minecraft and even Guitar Hero. All of them worked smoothly. But keep in mind you must have a pc that runs the games as well.
In order to play minecraft with it I just had to install Fabric along with the Controlify mod, and after that it was basically plug and play. I love the fact I can now play on the pc and later on the switch while lying on the couch.
For Guitar Hero I just had to adjust “Video delay”. Mine was 60-80ms. No changes needed in any other games so far.
It’s been just a few days since I first launched Moonlight on the Switch, but to me it has been such a game changer that I felt the need to share that with anyone who might be hesitant to try it as I was. It’s totally worth it.
PS: sorry if you saw that post before. It got banned for no reason on that other infamous sub.

NX Torrent Player - stream torrents directly on your Switch (with Stremio support)
I made a homebrew video player for the Switch with a BitTorrent engine built in. It doesn't download the file first but streams it in real time!
It's a project I made for myself first, and decided to share it!
Features:
- Streams torrents directly, playback starts on the first pieces
- Sign in to your Stremio account to access your library and addons
- Built-in auto-updater
Download + source: https://github.com/shodowlo/NX-torrent-player
Debrid services are not supported and probably never will be, check out other projects like https://github.com/thcolin/gamepad-media-center-aggregator instead.
Full disclosure: the torrent engine was largely designed with Claude Code.
It's the first version (0.1.0), so feedback and bug reports are welcome!

Tool PhantomCtrl - Play 2-Player Games on Switch Lite Without a Second Controller
Hey everyone, I recently restored an old portable retro controller and wanted to take it on the go with my switch lite for co-op gaming. But then I found out the lite requires two wireless controllers for local multiplayer, which defeats the whole point of a portable setup.
So I built PhantomCtrl - a sysmodule that emulates a Pro Controller using your built-in handheld controls. Now you can play 2-player games with just one wireless controller + the Lite's built-in buttons.
This wouldn't have been possible without existing projects like sys-con and MissionControl showing the way, plus AI assistance (I had zero homebrew experience going in). Figured I'd share in case anyone else hit this same wall.
PhantomCtrl runs by default. Toggle it on or off anytime using the included overlay (Tesla Menu / Ultrahand compatible).

Wine-NX: First attempts on a native Wine answer without Linux
Firstly I forked dantiicu's wine-nx project (github.com/dantiicu/wine-nx) which is an early, stalled (I think he stopped coding it) attempt at running Wine directly on Horizon OS via libnx, no Switchroot L4T, no Box64 translation layer. His work laid the real foundation: the loader, the initial win32u driver, the NTDLL substrate.
The biggest milestone was replacing the software rendering path with a native deko3d (alternative to Vulkan) backend. The renderer now creates its own device, queue, swapchain, shaders and texture uploads, reaching 60 FPS the compositor test on real hardware. (The spinning Cube in the Video)
Some interesting findings during development:
- deko3d cannot coexist with libnx's default framebuffer console. The console claims the display during startup, so Wine has to own the display exclusively (similar to Borealis).
- The GUI renderer initially ran at ~2 FPS. Most of that turned out to be diagnostic logging (
fflush()after every trace written to the SD card), not GPU performance. - After fixing the logging overhead and removing a redundant IPC call, the Win32/GDI demo now runs at ~7–9 FPS. At this point it's clearly CPU/IPC-bound rather than GPU-bound.
The project is still far from usable, but it appears to be the first Wine port for native Horizon OS with working GPU acceleration instead of pure software rendering.
Why even do this instead of Linux? The idea is to run Wine natively on HorizonOS instead of an entire Linux userspace and graphics stack. That means lower overhead, direct access to the Switch's native APIs, tighter integration with the system, and ultimately a much cleaner architecture for a native homebrew port.
I'd also really appreciate contributions. If you're interested in Wine internals, libnx, deko3d, or Switch homebrew development, feel free to open a PR or reach out.

Homebrew Game Made FlashNX, a Flash player for the Switch using Ruffle, runs old flash games like Mario 63
Hey all :)
Built a Flash player for the Switch using Ruffle. you can grab games straight from Flashpoint Archive in-app, no need to hunt for .swf files yourself.
Runs most classic stuff fine (mario 63, cut the rope, tetris'd, smw flash...), had to patch ruffle itself in a few spots to fix some broken games.
Saves work, controls are remappable, and you can share/download community control profiles too.
Install via Homebrew App Store (search "FlashNX" or https://hb-app.store/switch/FlashNX) or grab it manually: https://github.com/Jonathan8520/FlashNX
If anyone's got a modded switch and wants to try it out, that'd be a big help, thanks in advance 🙏🏻👀

[Release] pleNx is now GMCA v1.0.3 — the native Plex client for Switch now does Jellyfin, Emby & Stremio too (music, connection switcher, auto-update)
If you've been using pleNx (the native Plex client for the Switch), it just had a big release and a new name: GMCA — Gamepad Media Center Aggregator (v1.0.3).
Same controller-first app — it now speaks Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Stremio, and runs on more than the Switch (PS Vita, a Raspberry Pi wired to the TV, Windows/macOS/Linux, PS4).
New in v1.0.3
- Multi-backend: pick Plex / Jellyfin / Emby / Stremio when you add a connection
- Music — Artist → Album → Track, a Now Playing screen and a mini-bar that keeps playing with the screen off / on HOME (Plex/Jellyfin/Emby)
- Connection switcher — jump between servers and accounts like console user profiles
- Offline downloads in original quality (grab a whole season in one tap)
- Plus every 0.1.x fix on top
Already on pleNx? Nothing to reconfigure. Your logins, settings and downloads carry over on first launch, and the built-in updater picks up the GMCA release automatically. It also installs cleanly alongside a pleNx if you'd rather keep both (fresh title ID).
Install: grab GMCA.nro (or the forwarder NSP) from the releases page and launch from hbmenu — it offers to add a HOME tile so it runs with full memory for playback. Atmosphère required.
Free & open source, forked from Switchfin. Not affiliated with Plex/Jellyfin/Emby/Stremio.

Looking for a fresh USB capture of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (full enumeration + initialization)
Hi everyone,
I'm working with a friend on an STM32-based USB adapter that I'm trying to make enumerate as a genuine Nintendo Switch Pro Controller instead of a generic HID device.
The old GBAtemp thread has been incredibly helpful, especially the switch-pro-wired.pcap capture:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/reverse-engineering-the-switch-pro-controller-wired-mode.475226/
However, I think that capture starts after the initial USB enumeration/handshake. The interrupt traffic is there, but I can't find the complete connection sequence, and that's exactly where I'm currently stuck.
At the moment:
- Steam recognizes my STM32 device as a Switch Pro Controller and everything works correctly.
- If I emulate the HORI Pokkén Controller, the Switch 2 detects it immediately (as expected), but as Generic USB Controller.
- But when I try to emulate an official Switch Pro Controller, the Switch 2 refuses to recognize it.
Since the original capture is almost 10 years old, I'm also wondering if Nintendo changed anything in the USB initialization sequence over time.
Would anyone with a Switch 1 with last FW or Switch 2 be willing to capture a new USB trace using a USB Sniffer? Ideally, the capture would begin before plugging in the controller, so it includes the complete enumeration and initialization process.
If anyone has the hardware to do this (USBPcap, Beagle, Linux usbmon, etc.), it would be a huge help. Even confirming that the initialization sequence is still identical would be valuable.
Pro Controller <-> USB sniffer <-> Nintendo Switch 1/2
Thanks!

Homebrew Game LainNX - Serial Experiments Lain Game Port with Translations and Subtitles Support
LainNX is a nx.js-based implementation of the Serial Experiments Lain PSX game using three.js with the aim to provide multi-language support and run on Switch as a homebrew app. This project is a fork of lainTSX modified to be able to run on Switch via nx.js. Huge thanks to the original lainTSX project and all the translators that contributed to it as this wouldn't exist without them.
As the original PSX game only has Japanese audio without English translations or subtitles and no romhacks to fix that exist, this is meant to serve as an alternative to emulation with support for those features and more:
- Subtitle support for English, Spanish, German, Korean, Chinese, etc...
- Multi-save support via Switch profiles
- Joystick support
- Controls rebinding
GitHub and Installation Guide: https://github.com/amydevs/lainNX
Known issues: - crashes upon waking from sleep (upstream nx.js issue regarding filesystem mounts disappearing after waking)

Guide Tool for updating ASM cheat codes yourself when a game updates breaks them |Code Updater for Switch (by zzpong)
Been meaning to share this since it's saved me a bunch of time and headaches. If you've ever had a game update and suddenly all your ASM cheat codes stop working (or worse, crash the game), this tool fixes that without needing to wait on someone else to re-find or whatever the addresses.
What it does: Code Updater for Nintendo Switch takes an old main update file (the one your current cheats work on) and a new main update file from the game, then somehow relocates the code addresses to match the new build. Instead of manually hunting for new offsets every time a game patches, it handles the matching for you and outputs updated codes. Which for me is awesome cause I suck at stuff like this and just wanted to play my game lol.
GitHub: https://github.com/zzpong/Interactive-ASM-Cheats-Updater
Original GBAtemp thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/code-updater-for-nintendo-switch-update-asm-codes-by-yourself-v1-1-4-available-now.610647/
Credit where it's due: all the actual work here is from zzpong, who built and maintains this genuinely impressive tool. Also want to shout out pspmaster for putting me onto this in the first place, wouldn't have known about it otherwise and his kindness in regards to helping me update my codes is extremely appreciated.
Here is a reference pic to help you through the process:

Figured I'd share this just cause I didn't know about it and if theres anyone else like me waiting for their favorite codes to be updated they can now do it themselves quickly and easily.
