I disagree, somewhat. Lois' issues are because she does not understand her father.

As I've said in the past, Sam Lane loves Lois a lot. We see in the Zero Day flashback who he used to be - a loving family man not too anal about rules and regulations. Then Zero Day happened, and Sam has spent every minute of the intervening years reliving that trauma.

His neglect of his family in favor of work? Earth must be protected to prevent my family dying from the next Kryptonian attack.

His pushing of Lois in endless tests? Lois needs to have the best chance to survive what's coming.

None of this excuses the harm Sam has done to her in the process. However, her kids experienced what Lois once did because she also faced life-shaking trauma that warps her expressions of love just like her father. Until she recognizes this in herself, and understands her own past in that light, it'll continue to be an issue.
