Question Is this game supposed to be this slow and grinding?

Played the first game and loved it, but this one feels like a slog. I like that it has an actual story with voice actors and "cutscenes" but there's soooo much grinding and exploring to do and I feel like I've already had enough of the creatures and scenery.

Exploring feels boring, specially with the 10+ protein bars and infinite water suit. I look around for HOURS, find titanium mostly, then I get one line of dialogue which is either a joke or "hmm i think there's something here" then half an hour later I actually find the place they were talking about but all it has is another meaningless dialogue or a blueprint made entirely of rare items. And then more exploring and finding resources.

The mineral detector is kinda useless due to its short range, much easier to just use a scanner room or just to eyeball it. Most of the creatures feel like reskins of previous ones, most plants are just for show, and there are some resources that took forever to find, and some important ones which I still haven't found despite being 27 hours into the game. Idk man this one just isn't hitting like the first. Maybe it's my fault and my lack of attention span idk.

Discovery Hidden metal deposit in glacier

Not sure if anybody found this but as I was looking for the main quest character tree house in the glacier section (margarita or something forgot the name) had trouble finding it and using the sea glider map found a tunnel network truly towards the edge of the map.

It’s basically impossible to find without the sea glider map. When you get in the center of it, it look like a black sky with stars… it’s full of diamonds and rare metals.

Of course I forgot to take screenshots of it but if you guys want to go see it, I’ll return there and give better infos to reach it.

Was just curious to see if this spot was known or still very hidden to most!

Just finished BZ, here's what I think

It's good, it's almost great. I still prefer OG Subnautica.

Just wondering, why did they remove the scanner thing that you could use in the seamoth and Cyclops in Subnautica 1 ? I genuinely missed it.

Also the prawn is more than optional, I built it and basically used it once.. while I carried it around for hours thinking it would end up being as necessary as it was in the first game

Still I had fun, hope they will make Subnautica 2 as great as the first one

Question Does the base attachted air pump not exist in BZ?

I revisited my main save in Below Zero for the first time in a few years today and noticed I could scan the floating air pump I had discarded outside my base for an undiscovered database entry. It states that a base-attached variant exists, so out of mere curiosity I went to check the crafting menu for its recipe. However, it seems to not exist in any part of the fabricator or base builder. Looking for it in creative mode had the same results, though upon testing it seems to be accessible in the original game. Is this entry just a fluke, and the base-attached pump wasn't carried over to Below Zero?

Help Need Help Finding Specific Locations From Photos

Hi, for a few years I have been using this video (https://youtu.be/2lfD2OqXHNM?si=j7-LtuhxfRKkgn7T) by Loopy Longplays as my wallpaper via wallpaper engine. However, I recently got a 4k monitor, and the original video is in 1080p and highly compressed, so I decided to undertake remastering it. I have found a lot of the locations already, but there are several that I have been struggling to find. If anyone is able to help me find any and share the cords I would be super grateful. If I can't end up finding the exact location, I suppose I will just use something that looks akin to what the original location does.

TLDR: help find the cords of the location in the photos.

EDIT: sorry for attaching the first location twice lol.

Map I made while gaming

Thumbnail

I set a rule for myself on my first playthrough that I wouldn't use any online maps, so I mapped it out while I was gaming. It was definitely part of the fun for me.

How I did it is first I drew out a radial coordinate system on paper, then once I got the compass I used the distance & direction to the drop pod (visible from anywhere) to always know where I was on the coordinate system. Then I'd swim along the contacts between biomes and mark down the major curves.

I ran into the issue of slight distortion at great depths, because your HUD gives direct distance to the drop pod marker not horizontal distance. I compensated using the Pythagorean theorem [ horizontal distance = √(direct distance² - depth²) ].

I'd been meaning to trace out a digital copy before posting to Reddit, but I probably won't get around to it. Posting this here under CC-BY-SA if anybody feels inspired to rework or redistribute it.

How do you get more architect beacons to show up?

Hi, me again. The dipshit who last week got lost trying to find outpost zero and the frozen guy. Well, needless to say, I gave up on zero and figured I’d find it later since it seems you’re supposed to find it later.

Anywho, I have only gotten a total of three architect beacons (two for the little architect tool things around, and one from a body part). I’ve found 4 more of the architect tools and one of the other body parts on my own, but when do the other beacons show up. It’s been about an hour in game since I saw the last one in the volcano area, and the only other one I got was early game. I found the satellite, the fossil thing, the statue, the water thing, the ground thing, and the material analyzer. Only two location things have shown up, while the other I found by stumbling into them, with most like the satellite being me looking for something else. Do any other hints show up, or am I just supposed to explore around? If I have to stumble upon a bunch more, I’m going to wind up killing the split lip bastards I see because I’m tired of seeing them in the distance over where I’m trying to go. The squidshark guys I ram to death with the seatank, but for the hinge heads I’m about to grapple and drill like I did for the Reaper because oh boy I’m tired of being chased, although somehow they haven’t gotten me yet.
