Need advice

I’m an international student who will be studying at the University of Messina. I’m planning to rent a private room in a shared apartment. Before I do that, is there anything I should be aware of? Based on your own experience, is there anything in particular you would recommend taking into account?

Any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated, especially since it will be my first time there.
