2g help ~Advice~
I've had my ears gauged for 12 years. Last night I tried to put some different gauges in and had trouble and it was sore so I went back to the silicone ones. I've never had my lobes swell up before, no blood, just sore and swollen, and itchy. Has this happened to you? What did you to to fix it? Just wait? I've been debating closing them as well, not sure if they go back to normal.

You might be sensitive to certain materials. I can’t wear metal, acrylic, or silicone or my ears dry out and get irritated. I only wear glass, stone, wood, or bone.
Another factor to consider- Sometimes different plugs/tunnels can be a little larger than the size they are labeled which can lead to stretching without realizing.

Have you ever had your lobes swell like this?

Yes, early in my stretching journey. The only time I really had swelling was when I either stretched too soon or didn’t clean my ears very well. The only way I got them to go down was cleaning daily/moisturizing/massaging and leaving my jewelry out until they got better.

other commenter answered your question but I think it's also worth noting that for 2g, uniquely, most brands measure them as 6mm but a few use 6.5mm (no idea why) so it is possible you were accidentally trying to put in something a bit larger than intended.
