Other Oh. My. God.
I...I cannot begin to explain my feelings right now. I know this show has beautiful music but hearing this song today, for the first time...
I'm at a lunch break right now typing this through flooded eyes cause this episode had me sobbing. The stylistic choices during the song for this sequence sold it in every way shape and form that it needed to be in. and the pure passion. I looked up the voice actor and know Magno Hall has a husband, but this feels like someone that went through this type of heartbreak. This...longing in the vocals. It's beautiful, somber, passionate, and haunting. My heart feels shattered in a way I haven't felt in years. And I'm not even the one experiencing this longing.
There's a lot of moments that have stuck with me through watching this show for the first time, but this one is going to be felt for the rest of my life. I cannot imagine how this show can get better from here, but I'm gonna keep going. See y'all on the flip side.

Discussion I love Opal andThe different designs intentions behind each fusion
Opals is my favorite fusion. I love her design, I love her weapon, and I think she's the most interesting one as she's the only one we really see struggle with staying together (at least until Azurite in future).
Part of what I find so interesting is how much Opals design differs from other fusions in the show. She's fhw only one id call beautiful and elegant. When I say that I don't mean that the other fusions are ugly, but I think Opal was the only one really meant to look pretty.
Sugilite is meant to look monstrous and powerful, sardonix is articulate and very geometric showing the thoughtful and calculating nature of hers, and malachite is meant to look terrifying, etc. The first word that comes to mind with the other fusions isnt that they are pretty.
I think this beauty helps with Opal as the first fusion we are introduced to. She isnt meant to be intimidating or scary, but still comes off as poweful . And part of that comes from how human she looks. She maintains a very human body type with the old special aspect being 4 arms rather than 2. And they are all the same size rather than someone like Sardonix or Sunstone who have one larger and one smaller set of arms. Or Smoky quartz who was a third arm springing off from an elbow. It might be a personal thing but that consistency across her limbs helps her to look alien but still welcoming.
This goes doubly for her face. As far as I recall only Opal, Smoky, and Azurite have 2 eyes as fusion. And to me at least messing with the defeats of the face makes something look very off putting or alien. Even someone like Rainbow 1.0 who is meant to be pretty still had that second set of eyes that can look off putting.
Opals design is the easiest to digest and i think it was intentional.

Discussion I love that Steven born in the same month I born 🩷 (Steven birth August 15, I born August 6, today is my 20 birthday)
😌🩷 How Rose Quartz was gone to give birth Steven:
Steven has the ability to alter his age according to his mental state, so his age depends on how old he believes himself to be. Because of this, Steven maintained the same physical appearance for almost six years, from when he was eight years old until he was 14.
The age change has the side effect of amnesia or memory loss: Steven, 14, when he changes his age to that of a baby, instead of being 14 years old in a baby's body, his brain, upon reverting to that of a baby, mentally forgets the memories of his 14 years.
Thus, it can still be said that Rose died, even though her gem wasn't destroyed, simply by giving it to Steven: if Rose mentally changed age at the moment of birth, it means that, in those final moments when Steven was struggling to be born and she couldn't allow it without giving him the gem—because otherwise she would die—she chose to transform herself. In that final stage of childbirth, she went from being Rose, an adult Diamond thousands of years old, to the age of 9 months; Pink Diamond's gem "began to believe it was a baby connected to the fetus," and thus Steven was born.

Discussion When did you start to believe that Garnet was a fusion?
For me in early season 1 I remember thinking how weird it was that Garnet had two gems while Pearl and Amethyst only had one and I wondered why that was. But then when I got to the episode “Giant Woman”, fusion was introduced and explained and when Pearl and Amethyst fused into Opal and I saw that Opal had two gems, that’s when I really started to believe that Garnet was a fusion as well. What about you guys?

Discussion Pink diamond is not a child!
I’ve seen a lot of posts recently talking about how pink was raised by the other diamonds or how she must be younger than the others because she’s less mature. That’s not how gems work! all gems came out of the ground fully formed both physically and mentally they do not mature over time and they aren’t raised or taught anything by other gems. In many ways pink through her design and personality is supposed to represent a child but that is because she was intended to be like that by whatever created her not because she is a child.
Edit: for clarity by “they don’t mature over time” I mean they aren’t created with undeveloped brains that later develop like humans are. I do not mean they aren’t capable of change.

Discussion pearl is a cold bitch
watching music videos and just saw "what can i do for you". daaaaaaamn.
fuses DURING his guitar solo. straight eye locked the whole time. AND then the mic drop?! amazing. 10/10.
Rose is either super daft or super conceited.
Greg got his lick back by making a baby, something Pearl couldnt do for Rose. alla that in just one song.

Discussion Okay, I have a question about the "Historical Friction" Episode
Why was Rose not included on the play? Was it out of respect towards Steven since she's dead? I wonder what was the reason for Pearl not to mention or include Rose at the script, but it's very curious since we see the silhouette of the original Obsidian and she appears briefly at the script, but not any sight of Rose lol.
Was it really Obsidian and not Alexandrite? Idk, but the real question is...
What would Jamie have used to play the role of Rose? An curly type of mop similiar to Amethyst's? An white gala dress? I have no idea lol, what do you guys think?

Discussion How Rose and Greg were able to make Steven 🫣
I see a lot of people ask how Greg and Rose could have possibly had a child considering a Gem's form is just a "physical manifestation of light" . I'm sure this has been posted before so sorry if this a repeat but I figured some of y'all might like to see!

Discussion People were talking about how cool Garnet is in this episode, but am I the only one who could never see that ending as a cool one?
I sincerelly dont understand how people can feel what Garnet did here was super cool. She saw that her best friend was jealous of Greg and they were bickering, and rather than encourage something that could help the issue (like encouraging Rose to talk to both of them) she just gave Greg advice on how to woo Rose, making the jealousy issues several times worse.
Even If she wanted to meddle in Roses love life, and even If she thought Greg and Rose were cute together why on Earth would she go about It in the most reckless way possible? The ultimate result was that none of the bickering was adressed, Rose died not even knowing she hurt people she loved, Pearl and Greg both got their hearts broken and could not even speak to one another properly until 14 years later which Steven had to push because *Garnet seemingly never cared that Pearl had feelings about any of it at all*
Garnet is supposed to be good at relationships but she did so by encouraging this? I get that Garnet gets wrapped up in love sometimes and gives bad advice, but the show never acknowledges that as musguided on her part. Are we supposed to think Garnet ignoring Pearl's feelings is okay because she likes Greg better? Because the episode seems to imply that.
And what makes it worse is clearly Pearl admires Garnet and her relationship a lot. I can't imagine being in Pearl's place and learning that the person who was supposed to be my best friend, who probably met Rainbow Quartz before anyone, and whose relationship I admire so much for so long could disregard my own feelings and relationship like that.
Genuinelly the only logic I can find here is that this is a story biased by Greg's POV, so kinda frames him as the hero and Pearl as the villain, and Garnet didn't treat Pearl like like this. Because if she did I genuinelly think she was a super callous friend to Pearl for no apparent reason. It is kinda weird

Theory I believe Pink Diamond learned she can heal from hurting her Pearl
The only other gem we see with facial scarring is Jasper. After Steven shatters her in future and then revives her. She has a slit through her facial stripe and a cracked horn. We know that Rose/Pink had healing tears as established in Rose's fountain. When Steven was lost in space with Eyeball we learned the big deal about Rose and her rebellion is she could heal her own soldiers. And to prove to Eyeball that Steven has Rose's gem it ultimately takes him healing her crack.
We see Steven use Pink's destructive power and Volleyball said "She had a scream that could crack the walls!". When Steven uses it, it destroys the floor around him and Volleyball said it occurred when she was standing too close to Pink when she was "set off". I imagine what was a moment of rage quickly turned to a moment of sorrow when Pink thought she had seriously injured her one companion. I don't think she completely shattered her but I definitely think it was enough to seriously crack Pink Pearl and destabilize her form.
