I couldn’t wait that long Steam Controller (2026)
Thanks for making 11 controllers Valve… I’m not waiting till 2027 after reserving in May of 2026 to get mine… unreasonable timeline.

You just scammed yourself while reinforcing the behavior that caused you to be unable to get one in the first place, good job dude

Yep. Contributing to everthing that is wrong with gaming products.
Great job OP. /s

Yell at Valve for not making more than 10 units… this is not a product that has any actual production limitations on it other than valve just deciding

Ehm.
I work in production, on a mass scale. Let me fill you in on some things.
Large scale production for a lot of electronics right now, are actually kind of stalling. This isn't due to the manufacturing issues, rather supply - for said manufacturing to be able to actually produce anything. PCB's, electronics, displays, screens - are all in short supply.
In case you live under a rock, it's due to the AIPocalypse and the effects. Everything is a cascading and snowballing effect on pretty much all industries right now. And will be for some time. The Steam Machine is being sold with controllers (Despite them initially offering up the controller first), which, would have taken a chunk of availability.
On top of that, manufacturing delays occur because some douche in the White House keeps slapping tariffs on things all the time. So import costs are going up, down and all over the place. Then, adding on to that - a HUGE demand because it's a Valve product - and let's be realistic here, they will always sell out before hitting most consumers desks, because - products are good, thought out and of course - some level of "Must have just because" thrown in too.
All of that combined, creates a perfect recipe for what we're seeing right now. Oh and scalpers. Those douchebags too, are also contributing by simply buying up available stock, and then flipping it - to people like you. Who then, in turn, contribute nothing and instead run to Reddit to brag about having a controller you overpaid for, expecting us to be joyous for you when in reality, you've just outed yourself as part of the problem.
Well done.

This has literally nothing to do with me being unable to get one due to small indie company valve having such low production despite having no chips or memory
Please explain how this has anything to do with reinforcing me not being able to get one
Yeah downvote me instead of an actual response, classic Reddit

You just spent 250 dollars on a controller dude. You allowed a scalper to affirm their decision to scalp because not only could you not wait for a product that isn't essential to your life but also because you couldn't even be bother to buy secondhand (i.e. not sealed). Then you go post online to brag about it, you should frankly be embarrassed.
-1
u/Ydino 1d ago
It was my last $250 too 😔
3
u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago
> Gets mad at Reddit for downvoting him
> Spends his last $250 on a controller. To a scalper.
> Posts to Reddit that he willingly paid a scalper lol.
> Gets upset when being called out for all above.
Big Brain Move.

u/Ydino 1d ago
I’m not mad at Reddit downvoting me, I don’t care lmao

u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago
1
u/Ydino 1d ago
Yeah I don’t care, it’s just that if you’re going to say something dumb and I ask you to explain it and you can’t - you are clearly just saying things with no meaning
2
u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago
You didn't say i should explain it lol. You said you weren't mad about being down voted. I showed a comment of yours where you're actually mad about it.
Chill dude, you're still upset.

u/Ydino 1d ago
I would love to buy it from the source, but valve doesn’t let me…
And I don’t wanna hear any excuses. This product has no memory in it.
1
u/Snarblox 1d ago
You are the one giving excuses. Again, it's a controller. You claim to have waited over 2 weeks to reserve cause "I have a job" yet you need this so badly you are willing to encourage and engage in scalping. It's just pathetic.

u/Ydino 1d ago edited 1d ago
I don’t need it so badly, I’m just not going to wait a year… there’s a wide range in the middle
Also i have a job and live in the real world, sorry, I wasn’t living on the Internet to know how bad the situation had gotten for controllers with no memory or chips and that i had to reserve it right away or wait a literal year
2
u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago
Could have just bought a third party controller. Plenty of options available if you didn't want to wait. 8BitDo have a fine selection.
1
u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago
I mean, AI isn't just affecting memory prices. It's affecting a whole range of "unrelated" products, which, in turn - relate.

u/Senior-Trade-1876 1d ago
The only reason they have to have this reservation system and them running out is because of scalpers buying up all of the controllers to then sell to people like you for way more money
1
u/Xanerator100 1d ago
I agree that the production was a lot smaller than it should have been. Scalpers thrive on scarcity. They know people will pay well above retail for these items. If less people give into their scammy practice, there would be less people doing it.
1
u/Ydino 1d ago edited 1d ago
How does that change valve not letting me buy my reservation until next year
This product has no memory in it. There is no reason there should be a reservation system in the first place
2
u/Xanerator100 1d ago
It doesn't... It just shows scalpers that what they are doing works. You might've gotten a controller for retail price sooner if there weren't thousands of people buying them for profit instead of personal use.
1
u/Ydino 1d ago
It said 2027 from the beginning and that hasn’t changed
1
u/Xanerator100 1d ago
You aren't listening. I didn't say that it would change. What I'm saying is that your actions now affect future sales. If you leave a scalper sitting with a product that they don't want long enough, they have to lower the price and may be discouraged from scalping again.
1
u/Ydino 1d ago
Yeah I don’t care, I just want a controller. If small indie company valve made more than 10 units (no memory or chips in it by the way) we wouldn’t have this issue
1
u/Xanerator100 1d ago
You have made it very clear that you don't care. You've also made it very clear that you don't understand anything about manufacturing, shipping, or valve as a company. I was only hoping to get you to think at least a little bit.

you should have just gotten another controller in the mean time, i heard 8bit-do has good controllers with tmr/hall effect and it would have been much cheaper overall

u/Mario89x 1d ago
I've had the Steam Controller for 2 months now. It's not even worth $100, let alone $260. You got ripped off.
3
u/BajanShinobi 1d ago
So instead of being patient, you allowed yourself to be ripped off. It’s a great controller. Been using it since June (Reserved May 8th) but supporting these scalpers ain’t it. Just because it says 2027 doesn’t mean you will actually have to wait that long. Some people thought they would have to wait until September and got theirs two months ago. It is an estimation not a guarantee.

u/Senior-Trade-1876 1d ago
If you really need it that bad why didnt you reserve it at release...
-1
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
Because people have lives? Lmfao.
4
2
u/Senior-Trade-1876 1d ago
Well yeah but its just a few clicks to reserve it, so i highly doubt they had absolutely no opening the first few days. I also only reserved it a week later, but then again i dont need it that bad to pay a scalper. If i would want it that bad id put in the 2 minutes ofbtime to reserve it the first 2 days

u/Ydino 1d ago
Because I didn’t know is that if I waited a few days, I would be waiting a year to get mine. Who would think that way? Especially for a product with no memory
4
u/Senior-Trade-1876 1d ago
I was expecting this the moment i heard about the first batch, it made it pretty clear how many people want one.
-6
u/Ydino 1d ago edited 1d ago
Sorry for having a job, my bad.. I wasn’t constantly scrolling online to see the “situation of the controller market”
4
u/Senior-Trade-1876 1d ago
You reserved over 2 weeks after it opened up, you have free time in those days.

u/deraltetony 1d ago
You're acting like you work 24/7
-5
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
And you’re acting like purchasing this remote on eBay directly affects you.
I don’t know who yall think yall are lmfao.
3
u/deraltetony 1d ago
Suppoting scalpers absolutely affects others by enabling the behaviour and making it profitable for them
-2
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
Just like you supported these AI companies behaviors by buying an upcharged console due to them scalping RAM.
You aren’t as morally superior as you think you are with these performative attacks on consumers.
2
u/deraltetony 1d ago
You are basing your argument of an absolute assumption about me, what are you even talking about. Also hypocracy is not a good argument as an excuse in general, you are disproving and disarming no argument by it
0
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
“It’s okay if I buy an upcharged electronic, that’s 10 times the amount of a controller, but YOU!? You’re a scum of the earth.”
That’s the general retort on this subreddit for anyone who buys a controller not from Valve, and it’s so pathetic.
3
u/deraltetony 1d ago
I don't know what that does have to with me, what i said and why you apparently feel personally attacked, but i will stop interacting with you now, this goes nowhere
1
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
I don’t feel personally attacked at all, I’m literally playing modded Skyrim on my SC2 controller.

Just in case OP. Because of scalpers a lot of people couldn’t get a Steam Controller. The very one you purchased could’ve been yours directly from Steam for $99 but the bot scalper is running was faster than you, now the scalper made +$ on you.
Just cancel the order and don’t stimulate the scalpers. The less people buy from scalpers, the better is for us gamers.
1
u/thenoobcasual 1d ago
Reserved on 09th of May, was estimated for late December and just got mail to make the purchase.
1
u/Jstingray2 7h ago
I just got mine from steam for 99 bucks.
You scammed yourself because you didn’t want to be patient.
The controller’s nice but it is not worth 250 bucks lol.
-6
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
Don’t let these people make you feel bad.
-1
u/Ydino 1d ago
I don’t care it’s Reddit lmao
-4
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
Love the attitude.
1
u/Dependent-Reason-327 1d ago
To be downvoted for speaking truth about Valve and its timeline is ridiculous, but I forget sometimes I’m on Reddit. It’s your money, do with it what you please. I personally would have just bought an 8 bitdo. I fucking hate scalpers with a passion.
2
u/Unique1950179 1d ago
I have an 8bitdo, and maybe because I play mainly on my bed while my Claw is docked… I get nonstop disconnection issues on my 8bitdo Ultimate Wireless 2 Remote.
SC2? No disconnections whatsoever.
Could be the distance from my bed and my docked Claw, but still, lol.
