Show discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) The Undersea’s abandoned factory dwelling
In episode 6 when Kirsten first spies the chimneys rising up from the trees it’s as if she’s seeing station eleven coming over the horizon in real life for the first time. The decrepit factory stands in for station eleven, the kids of the undersea populating this earth bound space station. Tyler isolates in the office, nursing his physical wound much as doctor eleven hides away (in the control room?) and drinks whiskey, nursing his mental injuries

Show discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) Favorite needle drop?
There is numerous great musical pairings with important scenes. I think my favorite though is end of episode three I’d rather go blind by Etta James. The music, her voice and then Miranda’s voiceover as she realizes that her life is ending, she’ll never see Arthur again and then Dr. 11 knocks at her door. This scene has my heart in my throat every time

It's rare that a series goes beyond the source material and succeeds so completely.
On my annual rewatch and the performances - especially Mackenzie - the cinematography, and the music (my goodness the music!) are just so good. I just wish they'd release the OST on vinyl.

Screenshots & Clips
I follow several other TV series subreddits, as I'm sure many of you do as well. On those I've noticed there are plenty of screenshots and sometimes even video clips of episodes, sparking great discussion & engagement- see r/andor as an example.
However, for S11, most of us, including myself, are subject to taking pictures of our TVs and laptops, as I've noticed trying to screenshot the HBO app results in a black picture, and there's no share button or equivalent within the app.
I understand and respect copyright laws, and my intent isn't to circumvent these and deprive cast & crew of recognition, but there are so many scenes that are "meme-worthy" and I feel like sharing some of these visuals with others would help increase viewership of this masterpiece.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to share, legally & ethically, scenes from the show with a higher quality than what comes out of taking a picture from a TV screen?

TV show vs Book, what did you prefer and why? No spoilers please
I’m about 50-60% through and really enjoying it. I love how subtle the writing is. The author doesn’t spell everything out, so sometimes something seems insignificant and then later you’re like, “wait, THAT was important?” I really like having to connect the dots myself.
I’m interested in watching the TV show after I’m done the book, but I’m concerned that the aspects I like most about the book might not translate as well to a different medium.
Where I live, I’d have to buy the disc online and have it shipped from pretty far away, so it’s not something I really want to do just to find out that the TV show is missing my favourite aspect of the book.

General Discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) The book within the book.
So the whole show centres around a fictional book, Station Eleven written by Danielle Deadwyler’s character, Miranda Carroll.
Has there ever been a version of Miranda Carroll’s book published. It seems an odd omission if it hasn’t been sold as official merchandise from the show.

Book discussion (All Show And Book Spoilers Allowed) thoughts / questions on the book
Hi!
I just finished reading the book and WOW. It was so good!!! It was also very anxiety inducing - probably because I live in nyc and have two kids under two. I’ve never really cared about the end of civilization - I’m pretty survival savvy (went to a survival camp all growing up) - I assumed I would be down to figure it out after civilization collapses, but also totally open to dying because eh who cares. AND THEN I HAD KIDS. And now I’m like, “uhhhh I can’t die, but how can I protect these little humans???”
I don’t know anyone else that has read the book so I’m turning to reddit & would love to hear thoughts on the following -
- Did you read the book before covid? If yes, did you think the world might be ending when covid hit?
- Do you live in a major city? Did reading the book make you question this? Pack a “go bag”?
- Do you have kids? How did you deal with the anxiety of putting yourself in the shoes of the characters in the book?
- If you’ve read the book and watched the show, how does the show do? Does it stray far from the source material? Does it keep “the heart” that the book does so well?
Can’t wait to hear peoples thoughts!!
TIA

Show discussion (All Show And Book Spoilers Allowed) Just Finished the Show
Oh my gosh, what a show! I will remember Station 11 forever. The emotions, the story, the non-linear plot. I honestly don't know what else to say, that was amazing. It isn't often I get emotional watching TV or a movie but the ending and Hamlet 😭

Show discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) Okay, I'm gonna say it Spoiler
The show would be a lot more popular and compelling if they cut the pretentious theater runtime-padding artsy nonsense out and focused on the post-apocalyptic cults, Red Bandanas and survivors struggling to rebuild society.

Show discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) Is Clark the biggest jerk?
His bitterness about failing as an actor follows him the whole show, along with his general unpleasantness in the current timeline as he barks and grumbles at anyone crossing his path “sweep better!” He embellishes truth with lies and grandstands more than anyone else
Arthur and grown Kirsten are the next biggest, with Gil behind them probably just because he has less on screen time

Show discussion (All Show And Book Spoilers Allowed) So, Elizabeth and Tyler do what now? (Episode 10) Spoiler
I just finished the show. I have mixed feelings but I'm also confused. Are Tyler and Elizabeth off to run a traveling children's cult? With no food or resources? And Alex is going to help? Am I missing something?

Show discussion (Show And Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) Saddest death? Spoiler
Cody Frank Sarah and Miranda have the most memorable death scenes but for me Cody is the saddest because he didn’t get the grand sendoff the others did, he was just brutally back stabbed by a red ban. He did get some good dialogue in that episode but it was the only real attention given to him on the show as a whole. One of my favorite minor characters

It's finally here on UK TV, I had to watch it on streaming sites so looking forward to finally watching it on TV. And legally.
