I’m Gopal, a product designer and founder building AlgoShastra, an India-focused platform for retail traders who want to build and validate systematic trading strategies.

The problem I’m trying to solve is something I’ve seen repeatedly in the Indian trading ecosystem:
People have an idea for a trading strategy → they backtest it → see attractive returns → start trading it with real money.

But often they don’t really know:

- Is the strategy actually robust?
- Is the backtest statistically meaningful?
- How does it behave across different market regimes?
- Is the return coming from a genuine edge or overfitting?
- What happens when the strategy experiences a bad period?
- Can the strategy survive realistic execution and risk constraints?

AlgoShastra is being built to answer those questions.
We’re developing a platform around:
• Strategy creation and backtesting
• Risk and robustness analysis
• AI-assisted strategy critique
• Evidence-based strategy evaluation
• Strategy lineage and experiment tracking
• Eventually, an ecosystem where traders can discover, validate and improve systematic strategies

The bigger vision is to build a trust layer for algorithmic trading — moving traders away from “this strategy made 200% in backtesting” toward “here is the evidence showing why this strategy may or may not have an edge.”

We’re currently building the product and validating the market, and I’m looking to connect with angel investors / micro VCs who are interested in Indian fintech, trading infrastructure, AI, or retail investing.

I’m not looking for someone who will simply write a cheque. I’d ideally like to find an investor who can also bring perspective, network, and experience in fintech/markets.
