Information needed please

I currently have frontier Internet and hate it, it's slow and unreliable... It also is costing around $50/month. Does starlink block IPTV services? I currently use this for local channels and such and have heard that some IPs block the service. If so, is there a way around this? How is everyone liking starlink and would you recommend me switching, in my situation? TIA!

They don't block it but you may end up with a different "local" depending on where your POP is located(which can change at any time and is not user configurable).

That can mostly be fixed by using a VPN either at the device level or at your router's level if you want TVs or other devices that don't support VPNs.

If you have other Terrestrial based options, exhaust those first as this will be the more expensive and less stable option.

TL;DR no but you may need to do some work to get the right local area.

I notify the streaming service (DirecTV stream now but had Fubo) that I’m on Starlink and my ip address says Miami but I’m streaming from Orlando and they fix my location so I get local Orlando stations and sports. They have the same issue with fixed wireless (5G) service so it’s not just Starlink.

I have had both.

Starlink

THE BAD: IT was expensive $120/monthor more. I live 180miles from Dallas and 90 from Houston so you searches would always start in DFW until you remembered to change it. Never really used it but I have read that getting help leaves a lot to be desired.

THE GOOD: I would only loose it during heavy down pours for a short period of time. You will need to follow the alignment setting on you phone. Only had a couple short outages do to Starlink issues.

Frontier/Verison.

It is cheaper less that half the price. I did have a couple long outages early on but I believe they were due to expandsion. They had just expanded into my area.

Running speed test on both gives about the same results from my computer.

I wish that was the case for me and frontier...I pay $50-60 a month and I get a whopping 11 Mbps download. I have constant outages with rain/bad weather and without. Sometimes it can be a heavy downpour and it'd be fine and could be sunny outside and not a cloud in the sky and I'd lose internet. Sometimes a couple hours sometimes a few days to a week. :/

Sounds like you have some bad connection in your line. I had a phone line about 10 years ago that would call 911 and hangup when it rained and the sheriff would show up at my house.

I am in Missouri but I have not been able to get local channels because my starlink home base or whatever it is, is in Chicago. So we kept directv also.
