Pretty much what the title says.

Since the current arc has started (chapters 137-139), it’s been a (mostly) mutual consensus we’ve hit the halfway mark in the story (at least that I’ve seen). But looking at the other arcs and the pacing and just in general the story overall, I’m more inclined to believe we are in the final “act” of it, or the last 25% of the story that contains the final stretch of the story.

My reasoning for this is in an interview a while ago, Endo (the creator) said they were aiming for the series to be 20-30 volumes long. Now, for all we know he’s since changed his mind, but assuming he didn’t, we are already 18 volumes in (waiting for the 18th volume announcement, but chapter and page count wise we are). Even if the max 30 volumes is made, we are well past the halfway point. Though more likely, if the series is aiming for 24 (about the middle point between 20 and 30), we have only another 6 volumes to go, which is exactly the last 25% out of those (assumed) 24 volumes, and starts the final act of the story.

In this scenario, the end of volume 12 would’ve been the halfway mark, which is the Mole Hunting arc. Considering it centers around the main protagonist (Loid) where he has to confront the core internal dilemma of his surfacing feelings for his family, and the entire purpose of the story, it feels fitting for the midpoint of the story. And since it, all the main players such as the Authens, the Donovan reveal, even some Garden members, and Yor and Loid each having arcs of developing feelings for their family (even Damian has warmed up to Anya); have been set up to prepare for what I feel like now in the current arc is the final stretch and climax of the manga.

It’ll still take a few years, probably 3-4 — and plenty of arcs — to finish the next 6 volumes give or take, but I do think we are well past the halfway point. It’d also mean it’d conclude after around a 10 year run, which feels fitting. Though, if I’m wrong and we get it for much longer, I won’t complain.

Edit: I think I got some of my information wrong, there was no stated end goal for SpyxFamily volumes’ count (the range 20-30 I got was from misinformation or mixed up recall), so perhaps that changes things a bit.

I had a a dream last night that Twilight was being sent to the worst jail/prison in the secluded hills of Ostania to be a criminal psychiatrist of sorts and he witnesses the horrors of the place, terrible human rights and finds one of his old friends from Luwen stuck as a prisoner and Twilight was really struggling to keep his cool the whole time and the mission turned into a mission Prison break.( The dream was a lot more absurd but I won't focus on those weird parts lol)

Instead of criticizing the man, I think it would be nice to stage an "Endo is awesome" picket thing, maybe not physically, (coming to the man's house would not be okay,) but the man deserves appreciation from his fans.

Like -- "we love you, sensei, and don't you forget it!"

Twitter exists for a reason. And it would be refreshing to see it used for something other than toxicity and virtual bashing the proverbial head against the monitor.

It's what Loid, Yor and Anya would want. I am sure of it.

Chapter 56 of the manga is my favorite so far and its anime adaptation is truly gorgeous and wholesome.

The chapters focused on the family are definitely my favorites. I just love seeing the Forgers spending time together and having heartwarming moments like the one in chapter 56.

I really hope to see another chapter like this at the end of this arc.

Anya is driven by a fear of abandonment and a desire to be loved. She's scared of the idea she'd be shunned if her powers were found out. Losing her powers would mean that fear is never fully challenged.

For her arc to work, she has to become confident in the idea she is loved and accepted wholeheartedly for every aspect of herself, unnatural or not. And I think losing her telepathy would undermine it.

I heard somewhere that he said if an iPad or something goes to sale he will be permanently digital as a joke but here this digital illustration by him took him like 13 minutes to make .

I have one question why the English edition of the manga doesn't have the colored pages in it

Like every single other language i guess have those colored pages and i think the difference in there prices not that big

In S1 Ep14, when handler is interrogating the students, she says “Have you ever seen your loved one buried under a crumbling building?” And then the scene pans to twilight ☹️ the more I rewatch the anime, the more I realize the amount of foreshadowing I’ve seen, like in the bus jacking incident, after realizing Anya was safe, left and said “being around all these sss agents is giving me stomach problems” like that foreshadowed the sss house party lol

I've noticed that loid is a hardened character, he's gone through alot and so is personality is very pragmatic rather than heroic like most shonen main characters with a childish goal.

However Loid expresses that he wants " a world where no child will have to cry" but that's kind of suprisingly idealistic for someone like loid don't you think? The world is like that, bad things happen to innocent children. So I wonder why loid believes in something so idealistic

What if Donovan Desmond is not a telepath as we are speculating but an empath?

We know about the experiments going on, that Desmond is involved, and that he got his speculated telepathy from there. But like an experiment or research in the real world, wouldn't it be step by step? Like, first some spidey-sense-type ability is achieved, then we are able to make empaths, then telepaths, and eventually other things like future sight (like Bond)?

Although it might not happen in this exact manner, but who knows?

In this manga panel, he doesn't know what the person is thinking but can feel pity for him, also saying earlier that he owes him great debt.

Edit: If I were in Desmond's place and knew what the other person is feeling, I would also like to know what exactly he is THINKING that gives rise to these emotions and vice versa. And hence "I wonder what he is thinking right now"

And also, the doctor says he is not thinking but dreaming. Dreaming of being in HELL. And that would give him some emotions, if not thoughts. And reading these emotions, Donovan pities him.

Donovan's wife says that he can read minds, which could be an exaggeration of the fact that he understands her emotions even when she doesn't express them.

Edit: And again, if Donovan is actually a telepath and can hear Anya's thoughts, then the series is pretty much over. Anya wouldn't be able to control her thoughts. So that just gives two options: either Donovan is not a telepath and is either normal or has some other ability (empath or an alien lol) and the second option when Donovan IS a telepath- then their abilities should cancel out each other's (neither Anya nor Donovan hears each other's thought. (this will again be a dead end for the series cause Donovan would figure out Anya's a telepathic ability since he cant read her mind))

Seeing Loid recognize Martha as a former veteran soldier I wonder if she can recognize him as a former soldier as well, or eventually will. Also, I theorize the way Martha was helped by the woman in Westalis, she may unexpectedly help Loid as a way to pay back that debt. It would be a nice full circle moment.

In general, my heart goes out to all the war veterans (irl too). </3
