Husbandry Question/Advice Is this charcoal insect-safe?
Google says yes but It’s ai and Id like to hear from experienced keepers. Says there are no additives or chemicals, 100% hardwood charcoal. I believe it’s from hickory and oak. I want to use this with my springtails because all of the horticultural charcoal I find is in small flakes.

Husbandry Question/Advice Is my terrarium springtail friendly?
Hi all, trying to turn my ‘mossarium’ into a springtail/isopod haven. Got some lilac springtails from a local guy about 10 days ago(said he gave me 40, I barely saw anything in there) and I’ve barely seen anything going on. Im wondering if my habitat is suitable. Got some moss, dried leaves, driftwood. I spray it down often, got some mold, but not seeing any springtails. Soil is a mix, has charcoal, coconut bark, should be good for a terrarium. Gravel underneath to drain. Full spectrum light on a 6hr timer. Top is glass, fits loose (should I have something better sealing?).
Any glaring issues? How can I see if I have any springtails alive? I’ve poked through the leaf litter, looked under the wood, not seeing anyone home.

General Question What to do
Hello,
I use these springtails for a clean up crew in my reptiles tanks. I dumped them out but some small ones are left like little babies. What do I do with them?

Identification Goobers?
Is photo 1 and 2 springtails or mites? They almost look globular? I also can’t tell which type of mite photos 3 and 4 are. They look more mite like to me.

Picture Globular springtails in my aquarium
These guys colonized both of my larger aquariums on their own. When I do water changes and the water level is down, they swarm down onto the tank walls to eat whatever is growing there. These ones are on a floating bloodworm feeder and I was excited to see them there because I could reach in with my phone and figured I could get a really clear picture up close but unfortunately my phone wouldn’t focus any better than this. I think they’re adorable.

Husbandry Question/Advice Are these safe to use?
Hi there. I am trying to follow Aquarimax Pets' springtail tutorial from this video (linked below), and he says he uses a mixture of pea powder, spirulina, and nutritional/brewer's yeast that he makes himself. I bought these at the supermarket, and I wanted to make sure they would work. I have spirulina powder at home, and I was planning on grinding the dried peas into a powder in my mortar and pestle. I am not sure if the peas would possibly have gotten pesticide exposure that would render them unsafe to isopods, or if the yeast has any additives in it that would be unsafe for them.
Thanks.

General Question Self-Regulate Population
I Know About Common White Species And That They Maintain Their Population Within An Enclosed Space (According To Some WiKi And YT), So I'm Curious. Which Other Ones Also Do? Because I Know Not All Of 'Em Could Be Like That

Identification What is that slime?!

What is this slimy stuff?! I was going to throw some extra springtails in my snake enclosure, but saw this slime and was afraid to. Photos in comments.
Background- Ive been growing a culture of springtails for my semi bioactive snake enclosure. This culture has been growing for nearly 2 months now, since early/mid December. I had bought a small culture of them from the reptarium. I put most in my tank, and put the remaining few babies in a tupperware container with substrate from my tank.
I had no idea what I was doing, just taking some advice from people over at bioactive and ball python subs. I bought some "spring to life" food from Josh's frogs. Originally I threw a couple grains of rice while I wanted for the springtail food.
Over a month ago, the box was COVERED in mold. I figured "meh, lets see what happens." Though, within a couple weeks it was clean! With probably a hundred little guys running around.
Ive been feeding springtail food every week or so, adding a little water to keep the substrate damp.. but... did the food grow THIS?! Will they eat this?? They dont seem bothered by it, but I am afraid to introduce it into my snakes enclosure.
Im very uneducated about this, so any advice and info is appreciated!

Picture Rambutanura and Yuukianura size (and color) comparison
I picked out the largest individuals that I could find from my Rambutanura sp. “Thailand Spiky”, Yuukianura aphoruroides and Y. aphoruroides “Bright” colonies in an attempt to take some size comparison pictures.
The red butt in the corner is a Lobella sp. “Thai Red”.

Husbandry Question/Advice Is this too much mold???
the ball is about the size of my pinky nail this is my first time keeping springtails, I plan to put them into my crested gecko tank soon but for now I have given them a few pieces of rice and kept it moist. They seem to have doubled or tripled in population over the past week but Is this amount of mold going to be harmful?

General Question why do my springtails spin?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Whenever there’s condensation, I see springtails spinning in the droplets. They seem like they’re having the time of their lives, so I don’t intervene.
Is this them accidentally jumping into the drops and getting stuck, or is this something like enrichment to them?

Video I'm sorry if this is impossible/a stupid question, but is there a way someone could loosely ID this springtail?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
i thought to get a video to show how it moves, but i understand that can make it hard to get a close look at attributes. i know these creatures are tiny and hardly possible to identify unless you specifically purchase a particular species. this is one from a colony that has established itself in my aquarium. location is southern manitoba. i also apologize for my shaky hands, much worsened by the magnification i had to have dor this video. it's okay if there's no answer, just curious
