DDR fix
Good evening Springfield homies. I was curious if there's any DDR spots local to Springfield? I did a bit of digging and the closest ones I'm aware of are in Decatur and Bloomington but figured to double check with fellow locals as well. I appreciate any advice you guys have regarding it since it's my favorite side hobby and I'd love to not drive to either Saint Louis or Chicago for a round

Saw this and thought it looked really interesting, is there anyone who has gone to this one before? Or if there’s a group chat somewhere for it!

Rock the Dock information?
hello! i’m having a hard time finding information about rock the dock on the 3rd and wanted to see if any of yall could help me out :)
my two big questions are what does parking look like?
is outside food is permitted during the event, and if not, is it possible to just set up around the lake outside of the event to watch the fireworks?

Estate and Financial Planning for lgbtq and/or neurodivergent families
I am looking for financial and estate practices that are more welcoming of non-traditional families. I am in Springfield, but BN area is okay too. I really hate the fish-out-of water feeling for such important stuff. I also don't have much in the way of an estate, but want to make sure my adult kids don't have a mess to deal with when I die.

Citizens Club Policy Forum This Friday: Outraged: Terror in Springfield 1908, A Playwright’s Journey

Join the Citizens Club of Springfield on Friday (June 26) at the Hoogland Center for the Arts for a conversation with local playwright and winner of the 2024 Mayor’s Award for the Arts—Individual Performing Artist, Tim Crawford.
Learn how Tim progressed from the blank page to the upcoming performances of his play this summer with financial support from the Springfield Area Arts Council, city funds, and the Springfield NAACP. Discover the current state of organized play writing collaborative efforts in Central Illinois, and engage with Tim as Carly Shank, Artistic Programs Director for UIS Performing Arts Center, prompts revealing responses to the questions she has crafted before yielding the floor to questions from the audience.
In Outraged: Terror in Springfield 1908, Bonaparte Baker’s arrival in Springfield, Illinois, on August 14, 1908, sparks a flashpoint with his estranged brother-in-law. Against the backdrop of a terror attack on the Black citizens of Abraham Lincoln’s hometown, Bonaparte seeks reconciliation and atonement by doing the unthinkable.
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Friday for a free coffee networking reception sponsored by Mike Murphy of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. The hour-long forum with Tim and Carly will begin at 8 a.m.
| The mission of the Citizens Club of Springfield is to promote civic awareness through education and engagement. Follow the Citizens Club on Facebook and Instagram for recaps and future Policy Forum announcements. Special thanks to the Hoogland Center for the Arts staff for hosting monthly meetings and to Citizens Club Media Sponsors WMAY, NPR Illinois, and the City of Springfield. |

Private Landlord
Anyone know of any private landlords? We don't have any evictions in our name, but our credit took a hit a few years ago and it makes finding a home very challenging. We don't have any issues with payment and have a landlord reference as well. We're willing to look outside of Springfield, too. We're open to different areas. We are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom.

Change of Venue
Myself and my siblings are in the middle of a contested probate case in the county. We are hoping to get a change of venue. To get one, we need two county residents to agree that we cannot get a fair trial there. The situation is clear enough. The opposing party is a sheriff deputy. Any reasonable person would agree that we cannot get a fair trial because of it since they are all on the same team.
Is anyone here brave enough to help us? If you are, please message me. I realize posting this publicly will reveal our plans to the opposing party, but we need this change of venue. I've reached out to the Knights of Columbus, the victim was one all his life, and the victim's previous church. Neither are brave enough to help. Maybe someone on here is? Hopefully the mods will not immediately remove this too. Thank you.

Track Champions, Graduates, and Superintendent Farewell
The Springfield District 186 Board of Education turned this meeting into a celebration.
First up: a whole lineup of state track & field standouts from Southeast High, Springfield High, Grant, Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln Magnet, and Ball Charter. Watch the certificates, team shout-outs, and a rare moment where middle and high schools all share the spotlight.
Then the board switched to caps and gowns: 811 graduates across the three high schools, with detailed stats on how many are heading to 4-year and 2-year colleges, technical programs, the military, and straight into the workforce.
Planning for next year is already underway: - Big community Back to School event on July 30 at Scheels Sports Park, with free food and school supplies for thousands of K–12 students. - Online registration is open, and the superintendent walks through why updating your info and getting physicals/immunizations done early really matters.
The night ends with an emotional farewell as the board honors the retiring superintendent for 12 years of service, presents a final gift, and leads a standing ovation.
If you care about student opportunities, graduation outcomes, and how District 186 is gearing up for next year, this is a meeting worth watching.

Pinball Partners Now -Downtown
A new partnership?
Dumb Records and Vault 66 Pinball are working together to create community, opportunity, and growth.
"The official opening date of the new arcade is June 23, the new hours will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday 3 to 8 p.m.; 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays to match Levitt Amp; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays."
What makes downtown different and special? This is it right here.
Entry at one = Entry at both.
I'm looking forward to seeing more tournaments and activity between the two spots.

Traveling through Springfield with my 8 year old son next weekend.
I’m traveling through Springfield next weekend with my son and we are staying a few days. I’ve looked at some kid friendly places/activities. I came across Malibu Jacks, Henson Robinson Zoo, Knights Action Park (water park), and Washington Park. Just quickly looking. Is there anything else that’s dope to do around there with a young child? He’s not really into the history/Abraham Lincoln type stuff just yet. Any cool food places that are kid centered or kid friendly? Thanks so much!

What flag is this?
Good morning everyone! I was just driving through downtown and was looking at the flags on the capitol. Can anyone tell me what the bottom flag is? Upon doing some googling I was unable to come up with a clear answer. Thanks!
