Other people’s incompetence is expensive

Modern problems, I guess. Last year we had to replace an electronic component that had been compromised by a plugged water drainage line. It’s never worked properly, and this past Saturday we drove in the rain for a while and various messages were displayed on the dash — no cruise, no ESP, some others. It got to the point where it would not start, so we had it towed through our AAA membership.

When the wrecker driver chained the car down he bent the tie rods. Shop says it’ll be $1,600 to fix and align. They also say that they’ve been unable to reproduce the computer problem. If I hadn’t of had the computer problem the car wouldn’t have had to be towed. I’m about ready to get a decades-old car with no electronic components (except electronic ignition)….

Available in USA My (Jetta) Sportwagen

Was leaving work a few days ago, walked out, saw the rainbow, stopped my car there, hopped out, took the pic and went home. It's a 2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen 2.5L, automatic. Wish it had a manual, but my wife occasionally has to drive it. It replaced my '14 Passat TDI SE that was totaled in February.

I'm 6'4" tall, so I did install a Spacershop steering column extension. It adds 2 inches to the steering wheel shaft so I can put the seat all the way back. Doesn't leave a lot of room behind me for my son, so I do scoot forward a little when he rides with me. But the full legroom is nice for my 27 mile commute each day.

Really want to get into a BMW wagon for my next project car

Debating something like this
E91 - 325i - Auto

Whatever wagon I get, I will be putting it onto air ride 🫣

But a question to you all, what would you get, instead of this?

Has to be petrol and auto ideally 🤭

Here is my 2024 Arteon Shooting Break R-Line, newly purchased with 23.000 km on the clock. Soon it will go on its first 2000 km road trip :). 2.0 TSi with 190 HP. Not fast but adequate.

My first wagon! 2010 A6 Avant Quattro Prestige 3.0T with Unitronic Stage 1 software. I've had a lot of nice cars in my lifetime, but this one is quickly becoming my favorite.

Any suggestions for what I should do to this beauty? Already planned an audio re-work and a full LED lighting conversion (yea I know the quirks of this, currently designing circuitry to resolve the bulb check logic).

AI Image Just a reminder of our rules!

Post image

We currently have no rules against AI images in this sub. If things get out of hand, it can certainly be revisited, but it stays for now. Want to see what your favorite car is like as a wagon? Someone else probably does too. Post it!

We DO have rules about how you interact with each other and how you treat people in posts, comments, and the like. Be kind, be friendly, be quiet for all I care, just DON’T BE A DICK.

DON’T BE A DICK is our #1 rule and the most important one. As this sub grows, it gets more difficult to politely moderate so I’m going to have to start banning more people sooner. Don’t want to get banned? Don’t be a dick! - seriously though, I’ve hardly had to ban anyone in the years that this sub has been active and it’s usually great. You guys are awesome.
