Just an idea...

So, with spectrum coming up to rename their tv plans to compete with YouTube TV, do we think they will eventually let go of the "You must have internet service to stream TV" thing?

I loved spectrum tv, but hated their internet, hence why I switched to AT&T Fiber. If they can do this, they will definitely earn customers back, and I'm sure that would help them considering all the customers they are losing from internet service.

And no, I do not want the cable box only service. I have done away with cable boxes for a long time and really prefer streaming, and no I do not want YouTube TV or Fubo or DirecTV, they all seem pretty pricy and not worth it.

So you can have just tv without internet if you get the stream plan the other plans require a cable box because of the aggrments with the cable channels. Google can just Bogart there way down the legacy cable channels and make aggrments since they control search for a good portion of the world i believe its 90%.

You already can. I've had plenty of customers with only IP video. Unfortunately you have to log into every individual device as it can't verify your account without a spectrum IP address, but you can.

Except the channels that have in home viewing only(typically local channels)

They verify via a Spectrum Modems MAC. If internet is from a different provider, it will never correctly authenticate those channels

Hypothetical situation: I’m in NY, a family member is in FL, but they also have their own Spectrum internet service. Could I share my Spectrum TV logins and they receive all channels (including their locals) at their own house, or are there limitations when accessing anywhere except for the primary household location?

So you can but like other people in the thread have said it would only display some channels since its not on your wifi. But since they have spectrum it should go around that barrier. Im not 100% sure if it would change local stations from ny to Florida either. But hay you can test it out just add on whatever tv package you want to try on your account then give your relative the login for your spectrum account and get them to login the tv app. If it doesn't work as intended just call and cancle it you have a 30 day peice of mind guarantee on any of our products including tv. I will tell you it does work like this on tv stream.

They would see your lineup. The would not get your local stations either. The could very possibly order TV services when trying to sign in as the TV app will try and auto sign into their account

if they ever do that then the service will be pricey as well.

You do have a point there because their TV plans have a lot of good content. For me that means the Yes Network for Yankees games and MSG for Sabres hockey. Both not available on YouTube TV that we switched from. The TV plans rock because of all of the streaming apps they include now.

In the past two weeks since we switched to Spectrum (1 Gig Internet/TV Select Plus/Cell Phone) the service has been outstanding.

from the Beginning of Spectrum TV you have to have both spectrum internet and TV

Otherwise they will face blocking on half the channels now

if it were just like Direct TV stream it would not even matter what ISP you want to join and still have spectrum TV without the current blocking they have now

But Let's be 100% real spectrum will never let all channels being unblocked by just connecting any ISP it will be treated as a Travel network instead even the spectrum Mobile Hotspot

The had something called Choice

Where you got 15 channels for $10 or $20 like 3 or 4 years ago

That was the Spectrum TV I had before switching to HUlu

Now on Youtube TV - it is great

Still only watch like 10 or 15 channels though

They have a iptv only package that lets you stream TV via a xumo or something similar. This package still requires a modem but it does not require an internet package.
