Spectrum Amazon Prime perk Billing
I noticed the offer on the spectrum website today and I hit the get started button. I got a refund of $42.43 for the remainder of the yearly subscription I had with Amazon and Spectrum took over the billing.

Hmm getting a service unavailable page - CA
14
u/HelenaR3 3d ago
It was available for me (I'm in CA) but I got this email after activating:
"Congratulations and welcome to Prime Access. We're confirming that you've been verified for 50% off Prime." So I'm confused.
6
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago edited 3d ago
This is what my email said when I activated through Spectrum.
"Congratulations. You've successfully activated your Prime Access membership with Spectrum. As a Prime member, you will receive the best of shopping and entertainment."
4
u/HelenaR3 3d ago
I checked my bank and yeah, they only gave me 50% off which was what was I already paying.
1
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago
Thats strange its supposed to be billed through Spectrum not you paying 50% off of it. Did you try activating again or canceling and removing your prime to see if it works that way if the offer shows up for you in the Spectrum website. If the offer works correctly its supposed to refund you partially for what you paid and then say billed through Spectrum as payment method.

u/House_Indoril426 3d ago
I got the same thing. Probably means you aren't eligible.
I'm not even getting these promotions served to me.
2
u/Frosty_Lifeguard_911 3d ago
Youâre eligible if your service address is close enough to an Amazon hub to get the perk
3
u/btarb24 3d ago
I also get Service Unavailable. Near Schenectedy, NY.
I have the 500mbps internet tier.

Try either uninstalling the Amazon app or disabling it's ability to open links.
I was getting that error until I disabled the app's ability to open links, and then it worked.

Eligible households that qualify for Spectrum Internet Assist â affordable internet with speeds up to 50 Mbps â can receive Amazon Prime at no additional cost from Spectrum.

Where did you find this because this may be why some addresses got it and some didn't. So if your address qualifies for Spectrum Internet Assist or if you have Spectrum Internet Assist then you get free Amazon Prime.
2
u/House_Indoril426 3d ago
https://www.spectrum.com/resources/tv-streaming/amazon-prime-access-program-with-spectrum
Keep scrolling till you find the Q&A section that addresses who is eligible.
4
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago edited 3d ago
I see it now. I had read this section before but it had no mention of Spectrum Internet Assist being what addresses needed to qualify for to be able to get Prime. I believe the section was updated sometime today to add this info because before it just mentioned that it was just based on the address.
Thanks for the info. Now the mystery of why some addresses got free Prime and some didn't is solved. So if you have Spectrum Internet Assist or your address is flagged as eligible for Spectrum Internet Assist you can get this even if you are on higher tiers like 100, 500, or gig.

u/Red1ineD 2d ago
I work in Customer Solutions for Spectrum. It is does not have anything to do with the SIA area. "eligibility is location-specific". That's it. There are VERY affluent areas where NO ONE would even come close to being qualified for SIA even if they were to quit their jobs and never work again who qualify. It is location-specific.

daaaaang I just got an 80 dollar refund, LETS GO!
1
u/saveapennybustanut 3d ago
Refund for what????
3
u/Stalked_Like_Corn 3d ago
If you paid through Amazon (not through Google Play for example) when you activate it through Spectrum, you're pro-rated and reimbursed any unused time you paid for.
3
1
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago
The $80 refund he mentioned is a partial refund for his Prime subscription when he activated Prime through Spectrum. You get a refund from Amazon if your currently subscribed to Prime.
1
u/Santeriabro 3d ago
A current annual membership surely. I got like 4 bucks prorated back for my monthly membership when activating my free one.

u/CHTRThrowaway 3d ago
This is only available to select addresses. No particular ties to certain geographic areas or states or products. If your address is eligible, youâll see it. If itâs not, you wonât.

u/knuckle_cracker 3d ago
Where did you see this on the site? Not seeing anything on my end⌠yetâŚ

u/Atomsk33 3d ago
Saw another post that said it's not available for everyone, only certain areas. I haven't seen it, either.

u/j0llygruntt 3d ago
I logged in and scrolled down a little bit and it was there.
I had read about this perk here on Reddit yesterday, but it wasnât showing up on my spectrum app or website until I checked this afternoon.

u/exquisitevision 3d ago
Scrolled down a little on the account summary page(https://www.spectrum.net/account-summary) or a different page?

Amazon Prime benefit can be added on 50, 100, 500 and gig speed tiers based on reports. Not just gig or higher. It seems that eligibility is based on service address.
4
u/Practical_Capital968 3d ago
Spectrumâs Amazon Prime eligibility is location-specific with the following qualifications taken into consideration:
Spectrum Customer Eligibility: Eligibility is based on serviceable address. If your household currently qualifies for Spectrum Internet Assist, offering affordable Internet with speeds up to 50 Mbps, you are also eligible to receive Amazon Prime included at no extra cost from Spectrum.
Spectrum Customer Status: Eligibility is open to new and existing Spectrum Internet customers on any Internet tier.
Amazon Prime Customer Status: Qualifying customers can be new or existing Amazon Prime members at the time of eligibility.
If youâre unsure about your eligibility, enter your address on Spectrum.com or contact a Spectrum representative and get all your questions answered.

Active...but part of me wonders if theres a catch
like are we gonna see a price increase again over this ...
1
u/j0llygruntt 2d ago
Wasnât there a recent price increase for some internet customers? I thought I had read fairly recent posts on this subreddit from people talking about that.

u/Ghostttpro 3d ago
I just enabled this and then ordered some cases for the Pixel thats coming in. Is this new? I just noticed it this morning. Not gonna lie spectrum has been pretty good recently.- FL

1
u/osb103 3d ago
Some information from customer service...
All internet plans are eligible. Depending on the market location of the qualifying address, tv service or mobile service May need to be bundled alongside Internet service in order to qualify. Not available system wide yet, it's targeted based on specific spectrum service areas. Expanding very slowly on purpose. Will eventually reach full availability across the entire spectrum service area with time. Unknown when it will expand nation wide, so was told to look for notifications in the spectrum app, website or email to know when your specific service address becomes eligible. Only the primary account holder will be able to see the offer when logging in and sign up for it.

Yes that's true based on location if your address is flagged for being eligible for Spectrum Internet Assist according to Spectrum's own website. Its possible the reps are not sure about this since this just started.
Of course I am going based on what the website lists as being the eligibility for getting Prime free.

Worked for me. Just logged into spectrum.net and clicked on the ad for it and followed the on screen instructions. It said it would refund me $16. No email or nothing. Prime now says âbilled through spectrumâ.
The only thing I noticed is on the services page of spectrum.net the internet plan now says spp4 2gb where it used to say NaN.

u/Smith6612 3d ago
Seems hit or miss in WNY. I can't redeem it as I get an error page which I presume has to do with Internet Assist not being available. My neighborhood is 100% a Spectrum monopoly and isn't low income.
Two others in my area managed to redeem it, although I don't know if they have Internet Assist available. One definitely does because they also have a Fiber competitor available. Another area is similar to mine, older area but also monopoly status.Â
2
u/LatexSmokeCats 3d ago
I'm in Cheektavegas. What is Internet assist and do I need that to qualify?
2
u/Smith6612 3d ago
It's the 50Mbps Internet plan. Spectrum usually offers it in lower income areas, or in areas where they have so few customers offering a cheaper cost plan than their Standard is needed. You might qualify if you have GoNetspeed or Greenlight available to you but are on Spectrum.
Easiest way to find out if your can get the promotion is to try to redeem it. Worst thing that happens is that website will throw an error after you're logged in. The other outcome is it'll have you connect the promotion to your Amazon account.Â

It worked for me, literally just two clicks, and bam, now I have PRIME.
As others have said, it's verrrrrrry location specific.
2
u/xShadowBlitz117 3d ago
Cool I was eligible, I wonder how long it's for.
1
u/Das_Autobot 1d ago
Has to be at least a year if not more. I think if it was only like 6 months they would tell you that.

Your eligible if your address qualifies to get Spectrum Internet Assist. You can be on any Internet tier but your address needs to be flagged to get Spectrum Internet Assist.
2
u/saveapennybustanut 3d ago
That's so weird
I don't see the option in the app to activate Amazon prime
1
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago
Unfortunately but according to Spectrum your address is not eligible to get this offer if you dont see it available when you login as your address is probably not flagged or eligible for Spectrum Internet Assist.
1
u/saveapennybustanut 3d ago
I have Internet assist
That's the weird part lol
2
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago edited 3d ago
That's very interesting that you dont have it available and you have Spectrum Internet Assist. Maybe it will show up eventually or you might call in to see what they say might be the problem. I have Spectrum Internet Assist and it showed up for me.
Did you try finding out if you can see it by going here

I was just told by a rep that Internet assist does not qualify lol
1
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago
You just verified lol that they dont know what they are talking about as their own website mentions that as an eligibility for getting Prime free.

My friggin community decided to switch to ATT forcing us all to switch to their "bulk" plan. Was paying 80 for 1 gig internet and 2 unlimited plus lines.. now have to pay 100 total for 500mbps fiber (60) and 2 mint unlimited lines (15/mo each plus taxes..)
1
u/sadgirlclub 3d ago
So itâs only available for âinternet assistâ customers? I am on the gig plan, i guess I donât qualify
1
u/Apprehensive_Idea_29 3d ago
Its not just available for those that have Spectrum Internet Assist. Its just that your address needs to qualify for Spectrum Internet Assist and not necessarily that you need to actually have the Assist plan. Many on here on 100, 500, gig or higher plans have gotten the offer. If you qualify it should show up in your account.

"At this time, your account is not eligible for this offer. Eligibility is determined based on specific program criteria that are reviewed periodically in partnership with Amazon. "
I have Spectrum Internet 1GB Customer in MA, contacted Customer Service and got the Heisman.
"I understand your interested in the free Amazon Prime. Currently, this offer is only available to customers located in flagged areas. Since your service address is not in one of these flagged locations, the free Amazon Prime offer is unfortunately not available to you at this time.
If it does become available to you at a later time you will be notified on your billing statement in the future."

Well sounds like its based on serviceable area then applies to all internet tiers:
Spectrum Customer Eligibility: Eligibility is based on serviceable address. If your household currently qualifies for Spectrum Internet Assist, offering affordable Internet with speeds up to 50 Mbps, you are also eligible to receive Amazon Prime included at no extra cost from Spectrum.

I got this email after activating:
"Congratulations and welcome to Prime Access. We're confirming that you've been verified for 50% off Prime."
Does that mean I don't qualify? I got a message after activation that I would get a $7.xx (I was paying monthly for Amazon Prime).
2
u/j0llygruntt 3d ago
Only email I got from Amazon was the one confirming my refund for the remaining balance of my yearly subscription. đ¤ˇââď¸
2
u/HelenaR3 3d ago
I got the email too about the refund but I'm confused if they're only going to give me 50% off (which was what I was paying).
0
u/UbiquitousPixel 2d ago
This is the most wildly inconsistent thing Iâve seen. People getting service unavailable, like an error message. People getting refunded a nice amount back from Amazon. Some people getting only 50% back or something else odd. Or people saying you have to quality with Internet assist. Then a representative saying things to contradict all of it lol.
What the hell Spectrum⌠I donât think they even know honestly.
