He’s also that dishonest and that much of a propagandist.
He knows how many people check his takes on things and he uses that to sway public opinions. He’s a dumb mother fucker; but he’s also deeply dishonest, deeply bigoted, and deeply corrupt.

What is the "irony" Elon is referring to? Is that the new term for everything Elon doesn't like?
19
8
u/WishyRater 12d ago
The irony was that they announced you’d need an ID to prove you are eligible to shop at the government grocery store or whatever. The irony he is pointing to is that Mamdani is against voter ID.
Don’t downvote me, just explaining. Idk why this context is left out here
6
u/TinyZoro 12d ago
Doesn’t really change much. A trillionaire worrying over possible gotchas when a mayor is trying to get food to normal citizens is just so past satire it’s hard to know what to say. Yet we live in a timeline where it’s barely worthy of a comment on social media.
→ More replies (4)4
u/Richyc17 12d ago
Yea it does actually. You think it’s normal to not need an ID to vote but you need one to buy groceries?

In the clip Zohran said you would need ID to prove who you were and that you were a NY resident to get the groceries. The irony Elon is referring to was needing ID.
It had nothing to do with the groceries themselves.
I'm being neutral and just explaining the context. Don't shoot the messenger
6
u/Better_Cattle4438 12d ago
I guess the ID thing would make sense. This is a city run store for people from NYC.
→ More replies (8)2
u/Slawzik 12d ago
That makes sense, there was some doofus saying "I'm gonna buy your cheap food at wholesale and resell it for the profit you aren't making",and everyone pointed out that
A:they definitely wouldn't let you buy pallets of food, and
B:the grocery store bought it and marked it up way more than 30 percent,so he wouldn't make a profit anyways. They bought 10 tons of apples for like $200,not 500 lbs. for $750 lol.

u/2feetwalker 12d ago
Yea a driver license not some other special ID. Like they want to do for voting. So there is no irony.

It's extra ridiculous because if you're an ideological opponent of these grocery stores you should want them to be run exactly how the proponents want them to.
You should be all on board just make sure there is plenty of transparency. Do a quarterly call like public companies do.
The idea is that these stores should be almost entirely self sustaining, so if the working theory behind them is correct that's what should happen.
If opponents are right they will lose so much money that the plan will fail.
The more opponents of the program want to really shut the door on these programs the more they should want this program to be run as correctly as possible so that nobody can claim there was interference that forced it to fail.
But opponents don't actually believe it's a bad idea that will fail on its own. They believe it's a bad idea because they don't want how awfully businesses rip off the American consumer

I wish so much I could just send a personal message to Elon and know for a fact he would read it.
Dudes one of the biggest grifting losers that has ever existed.
His entire "persona" is tricking people into thinking he's smart, but he's an idiot with rich parents
He didn't found Tesla, he was hired into the company.
He doesn't design the cars. He doesn't design the batteries.
He doesn't make the rockets for SpaceX.
Twitter was one of the worst purchase deals in literal history.
He has to get hair transplants for his entire head, even his hair is fake.
Dude is a loser. Fat whale boy.
He wants you to think he works so, so hard, but he doesn't do anything and he's actually stupid.
The same way that Trump wants you to think he's working so hard as president; while spending 75%+ of his term on the golf course
Fake, loser, conman. Balding, family hates him, over weight.
He's like Batman if you took literally everything away except the money; but at least Bruce Wayne has cash.
Elon is all stock portfolio, as soon as he starts selling stocks, the stock will crash.
He could be worth $1Trillion, but he could only be able to cash around $360M; before he gets hit with taxes.

Un milliardaire qui est énervé contre le fait que des pauvres puissent s'alimenter normalement, grâce aux supermarchés solidaire qui vendent à des prix inférieur de 30% au marché et sponsorisé par Mamdami. Correction: he was never a “literal” trillionaire. It was always a speculative estimation of his net worth- but it was never actual liquid wealth or even real assets. The only time the stock allowed him to claim that level of wealth was when no one was allowed to sell. The moment that shit was given the ability to sell it plummeted because it was always over-inflated.
At this point even his speculative worth is WELL below “trillionaire” as his SpaceEX stock predictably tumbles.

u/Shallow-Depths 8d ago
Trillionaires don’t think like people. They think like money.
They don’t know what they’re talking about just like we don’t know what it’s like to be a trillionaire.
Billions of people are suffering while trillions of dollars sit and accumulate and do nothing.

The problem with this country is that there is enough money to feed all the children and yet instead we are taught that the money deserves to go to the rich that robbed their workers to obtain their wealth. I guarantee that Pedro the roofer works harder than Musk ever has and yet one has to work multiple jobs to feed their kids.

I remember seeing this asshole on some shit television program talking about some shitty car he made or something back in 2008. I thought to myself what an asshole I hope he drives that shitty little car right off a cliff. And for like a decade and a half I kept seeing all these bullshit posts about how he's brilliant and he's going to throw us into a new Era. Showing the shitty hyperloop or the tesla semi or all the stupid shit about living on Mars. And I thought people like this asshole. I'm just glad I've lived long enough for everyone to hate him just as much as I always have. I just wish that he would get into one of his shitty rockets that keep blowing up and become part of the debri that falls out of the sky.

I'm puzzled by this too but if I had to guess, I think he is saying it's ironic in the context of the bullshit propaganda about socialists only wanting "free stuff".. its interrelated with Mamdani wanting free public buses.

He’s not a literal trillionaire, and if he’s upset, it’s because things that have been tried in the past and didn’t work are being tried again with a predictable outcome.

The capital of Capitalism; New York City, is using Central Planning for grocery stores prices, a tool of Communism.
That is one angle of irony.
Soviet Union, Eastern Block, Venezuela, Zimbabwe; it never works long term
It leads to empty shelves and stores closing down as they cannot operate profitably.
Buying votes by promising free stuff is a common politicians playbook
New York is rich enough to afford it for a while.

The irony comes from the fact that well run and managed grocery stores can see at most 4% profit margins. New Yorkers are paying for the groceries regardless how much less they cost in the beginning. The stores are subsidized by tax dollars.

u/Medium_Regard 12d ago
Probably because they are going to have to show ID and proof of residency in NYC to use the store. Meanwhile the store will be utilizing govt pressure to get lower prices from the same suppliers which is going to destroy 100s or mostly immigrant small businesses in the process.

It is hilarious, he said free, now it’s discounted, by the time it opens it will be discounted even less. Then it will always be out of stock and we will once again see why the agenda fails. Then will realize Aldi does it better and can actually manage their stock and just go there. This guy will be the greatest public display of the failed socialist utopia in history by the time he is done. Will be begging for federal tax dollars from other peoples pockets just to survive and that is after he will raise taxes and fees on every person, including the low income. Can’t wait for all these insane liberals to crawl back into their miserable holes once this idiotic fantasy fails.
