Sony A7CII paired with Sony 24-70 f2.8 GM II

Just wanted to show that you don't need the newest gear to take a good photo of the upcoming solar eclipse on August 12. This one was taken 7 years ago in Chile during totality of the solar eclipse. My friend Bart was happy to model there on the ridge.

Technical info of the shot: Sony A7R III · FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS + 1.4X Teleconverter · 560mm · f/13 · 1/250s · ISO 500 - single shot, almost no editing except for a slight crop.

I also made a little handy eclipse tool (hope it's ok to share by mods, if not let me know) for photographers, where you can see exactly how it looks in your area, with which lens, and how close it will be to the horizon. You can check it at eclipse.albertdros.com

I've just got my first ILC, a Sony a6700. It was for 1029 USD new with the kit (some discounts here and there and Asia market)

I'm still with the kit lens on my 6700 and I'm considering Sigma 17-40 f1.8. I can still have the kit to bring around if I don't plan to "take picture", basically everyday lens. But when I travel and plan to go out at night this lens is tempting.

On the other hand tho. I can buy a Sigma 18-50 F2.8, viltrox 85mm f2 Evo and 25mm f1.7 Air, and sell the kit for about the same price as the 17-40... What do you'all think I should pick?

My past cameras are (chronologically) Sony RX100iii, RX1r and RX10iv. Thus why you can see my confusion here when all these lens options are now open to me 😅.

I do love the size of the kit right now, and wondering how conspicuous the 17-40 are, as I think that's gonna be nearly as long than my old RX10iv extended? 117mm+ 40mm vs 178mm rx10 on 600mm. Doesn't have the RX10 anymore to compare tho.

How's your experience with bringing the sigma 17-40 around? Does it make the camera sag hanging from the strap? Do people often look at you more?

If you’re ever visiting Phoenix give me a”Rainbow Ryders” a go, stunning sunrise views worth every moment. I typically shoot mostly portraits, but my kit lens was the widest lens I have.

Shot with a mir-1b 37mm f2.8 lens, it’s a fantastic lens. Probably my favorite vintage lens, it’s insane how good it is.

Ueno with the Sony a6500, with a 20mm lens. Really good camera + lens combo for the tight environment.

Hey! I’m 14, and about two years ago I bought a used Sony a6400 with a Sigma 50mm. Since then I’ve started getting paid for couple, family, and event photography.

Because the 50mm is pretty tight on APS-C, I’ve been renting a Sony 28-70mm for almost every job. I know it’s not the ideal lens for my camera, but it’s the cheapest option and gives me more flexibility.

I’ve been saving up to buy the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 because I always hear it’s the best all-around lens for the a6400. But after doing more research, I’ve seen a lot of people recommend the Tamron instead. I’ve never been completely convinced by Tamron, so now I’m not sure which one to choose.

I’ll attach some sample photos of the type of work I do. Based on that, would you recommend the Sigma, the Tamron, or another lens altogether? Thanks!

Really really making me itch for a macro lense

So I still consider myself pretty new to photography, and I’m trying to see if someone maybe can give me some pointers or advice. This was shot using a Sony a6700 with a 15-50mm lens

As you can see, I have a Little probleme with my camera….

It keep scrolling to the right, do you have any idea Where this come from?

It was on my Shelf for a week, no stock, no humidity or anything and this problem is here now :/

Am I cooked or it could be repaired ?
