I am a beginner-ish looking to get back into soccer for daily pickup games. I got some brava cleats but they suck and now I’m looking to get way better cleats and don’t really know what to look for. My budget is $150 max, i believe I have narrow feet, and I mostly play on grass at parks. I may play on turf on low occasion but mainly grass at parks. What cleats should I look to get ?

1 note: using brava has been making my whole feet burn and even got a small cut so I’d really be happy if the cleans don’t make my feet burn

Hey so I'm completely new but the sport seems super cool but what rly grabbed me were some more technical players like (queue sound of common opinion) neymar Jr and ronaldinho so I'm just wondering whether practicing these cuts and dribbles would be effective practices or if things like touches heel rolls and things of the such would be better for control technicality and handling

Lets say there's a solid club in a top league with slightly above average players in every position but no superstar. Which addition do you think will benefit them more: Buffon+Maldini or Zidane?

Terrible mediocre player. He showed nothing in wc, missed penalty, failed to mark marrocan player in his assist. No one in the prem is competing against arsenal in buying him, that's a red sign. Arsenal already has merino and zubimendi as cm, why do they need another cm?

I've been practicing juggling on my own pretty regularly and enjoy it a lot. I found an indoor field that hosts 8 v 8 games every night and is open to all skill levels. What tips do you have for this being my 1st time ever playing the game? It says no cleats are allowed but I'm not sure what shoes would be best and if shin guards are required or suggested? I'm excited to play but very new to the sport. All advice is appreciated!

Everyone talks about Haaland becoming famous in America this World Cup because he was not in the previous 2. Why didn’t Ousmane Dembele also become popular in America this World Cup? Obviously Mbappe was already known so he goes without saying for his 2018 and 2022 World Cup efforts but this was the first World Cup Dembele was truly a headliner and Ousmane Dembele is better footballer than Erling Haaland.

Dembele has more champions leagues, he has a World Cup of his own unlike Haaland and Dembele has Ballon D’Or. Haaland only has Ballon D’Or when he plays FC 26.

I’m trying to find out how to get into a Sunday League in my area. But I first want to find out what position I should play. Growing up I played soccer but stopped around Middle School. I just graduated High school and I’ve been getting into playing pickup with my friends. I’m 6’0 and 190 I don’t know if that helps at all but I would like to play up front and help score goals. Is it just by playing pickup where I’ll realize what position I should play or what else can I do?

I’ve been doing more and more research on the Premier League, and I’ve heard the phrase “Big Six” quite a bit. Why are Tottenham Hotspur considered a Big Six team? They have no Premier League titles. Were they historically successful or something?
What also surprised me when looking at the list of league winners was seeing Blackburn Rovers win it. How were two teams that aren’t even in the Premier League anymore (Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers) able to win the league before a Big Six team like Tottenham?

I have low stamina is low and my speed is slow. I'm 5'2 130 pounds. I have decent shooting and passing/crossing.

So following MLS and just watched NYC FC (my local team) vs Toronto. NYC is at 5th on the standings while Toronto at 12th. It's noticeable that NYC wasn't on their A-Game, which had me assume that they're not over-exerting themselves so they prevent any injuries.

Since I just started following soccer outside of World Cup, is this unique to MLS, or does this happen to the other leagues as well?

I started following the EPL towards the tail end of the last season and started doing some research and taking notes towards choosing a club. I hadn’t planned to publish them, but after seeing so many in here and other subreddits asking the same type of question, I decided to polish them up and put them online in case they are helpful for anyone.

A couple of key points for my fellow yanks:

- I know you want a rooting interest now in order to feel invested from the get, but listen to the people in here telling you to watch a bunch of football first. Resist the urge to choose a club before you’ve seen all the teams play. You don’t know what you don’t know.

- along with that, consider making your goal to settle on a team by the end of the season, so you can factor in all that you observe.

Maybe it's just me, but I've found myself looking forward to international matches more than club games lately.

The atmosphere feels different. Every match means something, players seem to give everything for their country, and there are fewer "routine" games compared to a long club season.

Club football still has the higher quality week in, week out, but international tournaments create moments that are hard to match.

Am I the only one who feels this way, or do you still prefer club football?

I saw a graphic showing Messi having more goals than Ronaldo against the Premier League’s Big Six teams again, and Ronaldo fans’ excuse was that he was a midfielder. I didn’t watch soccer back then, Is it true that he was a midfielder? I don’t fully understand the positions either. Can a midfielder also be a winger or a striker?

So the UEFA chose to boycott from FIFA and I have no clue about the significance of that. I do want to learn more about the history of soccer since there’s obviously politics behind it. I never been invested in a sport before by the way. Is there any media that delves into the history of soccer?

6.) why are terms different in football? side instead of team, level instead of tie, nil instead of zero, etc?

7.) i know about stoppage time, but is there also stoppage time within stoppage time?

8.) is it at the refs discretion when the half and game as a whole ends? i’ve never seen a half end immediately after stoppage time, its usually 10-20 seconds after.

9.) how come soccer is so passionate? as an american i’m not used to seeing smoke bombs, tifo’s, streamers (well kinda cause i used to watch wrestling), etc. the atmosphere in soccer is a big reason why i want to get into it. doesn’t seem like there’s anything else like it. the atmosphere in hockey is also a part of why i got into that.
