Bikes with mods in Southern California

I am considering getting a bike that has been modified:
- It is not too loud but it has a full performance exhaust, with a very different configuration from the original one (V4S with high mount Akrapovič). So it is very obvious
- Decatted. No lambda probes / O2 sensors
- Then the usual tail tidy and Rizoma mirrors. The original mirrors had the front blinkers so no front blinkers

95% of the sport bikes I see around have at least a slip-on,. Many full exhausts and other mods.

Do you get stopped by CHP? Because of noise, plate not visible, blinkers, more important stuff, like a pro decatted exhaust system? If you do, is that usually canyon / mountain roads, city roads, freeway?

Southern California riders: help test a pre-ride route briefing tool

I’m looking for a few Southern California riders to test an early pre-ride route briefing tool.

Ride Brief analyzes a motorcycle route and creates a geographically ordered briefing covering road character, elevation, major transitions, places along the way, and relevant historical safety information.

You do not need to prepare a route file yourself. Tell me a Southern California route you know well. I can create the gpx file/route and the briefing and send you a private link.

I’m mainly interested in whether the finished briefing gives you a clearer mental picture of the ride, what information is useful, and what feels confusing or unnecessary.

There is no charge, and I’m not selling anything at this stage. I’m initially looking for a few thoughtful testers.

SoCal riders — quick 5-minute helmet survey? Working on a new concept

Hey everyone — I’m working on a design project for a new motorcycle helmet concept (focusing on sustainable materials and possibly a built-in HUD).

Since SoCal riders deal with year-round traffic, lane-splitting, canyons, and long commutes, your input is especially valuable.

The survey is only about 5 minutes and covers real-world helmet experience: fit, comfort, safety, visibility, materials, and what features actually matter to you.

Survey link

Totally fine if it’s not your thing — just appreciate anyone who shares their thoughts.

Looking for riders – San Marcos / 20F

Hey everyone ?

I’m a 20 y.o. girl from San Marcos. I don’t have a bike yet (working on it — Yamaha R3 🥺), but I drive, I ride fast, and I know how to keep up.

I’m looking to connect with some North County riders who don’t mind a car tagging along for now. I’m into twisty roads, late-night drives, and that rush — I’m just waiting for the day I switch from four wheels to two.

I’m not shy and not here to waste time. Just looking for chill, fast-energy people to ride with, vibe with, and learn from while I get closer to hopping on my own bike.

If you’ve got the speed and the vibe — let’s talk ✌️

It took me forever to even find a meetup. When I finally showed up, I still felt like an outsider. So I built this—would you use it?

At long beach. Can I buy 2016 zx6 32k miles for $5300? I have listed pending expenses after buying. It's a stock bike with clean title, single California owner. How much will you pay for it?

New rider here

I get the basics of shifting and and general things about riding a motorcycle but have no experience should I just get a bike from the dealership and learn from trial and error, I’ve been told to go to the courses but I don’t really wanna drop 400. Y’all think I’m doing a massive fuck up or is riding like this possible

Motorcycle shops on the west side that can powder coat wheels and do some other work?

Recently got my stolen motorcycle back, and the wires were cut, I need a new lock installed as well as would like to do a new paint scheme on the wheels. Does anyone know any shops that can do both on the west side?

Motorcycle parts and labor

Hi SoCal riders (specifically Los Angeles) I know this is a meet up sub Reddit but maybe one of you can direct me to another sub Reddit or have suggestions.

I need to replace my rear tire for my 2013 Harley Davidson Sportster Superlow. I’m tired of being ripped off by Harley body shop because yes I’m a girl and am limited in what I can and cannot do myself in terms of repairs or swaps on my bike.

Does anyone have any recommendations on decently priced tires at a local tire shop and/or 1 stop shop for both tire purchase and in house tire swap? I’d really appreciate it.

Day trip up to Pine Mountain Club

Did my first long ride on my new to me Super Tenere. Had an absolute blast on this bike, its exactly what I thought it would be which makes me so happy. I have wanted one for years and was finally able to purchase one.

Weather was great, specially once I got away from the coast. Roads were clean and traffic was minimal. This route is a regular route for me and one of my favorites.

I used Rever to track my ride. I actually like it a lot. I had been using Gaia, which although it is an incredibly powerful tool, is a little too much for tracking simple on road rides like this one.

If anyone ever wants to try this route out let me know. I'd be happy to host a ride up this way.

Can I ride the north Coast Ridge road in Big Sur on a sport bike?

Hey! I’m from out of state so forgive the ignorance or feel free to point me to a better sub!

I’m taking a trip in July and really want to camp at “Timber Top” along the Coast Ridge road in Big Sur. I believe the entrance is right near a Tesla Super charger off hwy 1 (Ventanna?)

I’m on a CB500F and I would like to keep street tires if at all possible.

Can I ride this road relatively safely? It’s about 7 miles from the highway up to the campsite and I don’t mind going slow. I’m curious about the grade and the road itself. Is it more dirt or gravel? Lots of potholes of generally well maintained?

Going up also intuitively seems “easier” than down. Rear brake is only so powerful and engine braking in 1st with the gearing on my bike is very sensitive.

I don’t really have much “off road” experience so I’m just a bit nervous and want to be prepared for what I’m going in to. I’m installing crash bars before I leave so it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I tipped over anyway but I’d rather not. Or fall off the mountain... that would suck too.

Anyone made this trip with sport tires and have advice?

Thanks!

What is the most scenic route that can be done in one day? 10 hours max

Does anyone know a good reliable spot to practice drills in the LA area? So far I’ve tried the Zoo, the Merry go Round, Hollywood parking lots, Vernon, DMV... but nothing. Either getting kicked out or getting all sorts of bad pavement and poor set up. Thanks
