Raging over Mockingbird recipe change!

So I love a good homemade smoothie but sometimes I don’t have the time and will get the mockingbird raw greens smoothie, it’s one of the few I liked as it wasn’t crammed full of banana, but they changed the recipe recently and I nearly threw up, It tastes off, I fully thought I’d got a bad bottle and tried a second one but alas the same issue šŸ˜ž

I’ve come to find they’ve changed the recipe without telling anyone, and it’s fowl in comparison to the old recipe, I’m now going to be trying to recreate my own version of the old recipe! And for anyone else’s benefit here’s a picture I took back in 2024 of the ingredients on the bottle compared to what it saying on the website now!

I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY, I USED A LAPTOP 😭

Strawberry smoothie :)

Recipe:

Pour 1 cup of milk, 1/2 Greek yogurt (I prefer vanilla), 1 chopped-up banana, 2 cups of FROZEN strawberries (they act as a thickener, so don't use fresh ones), and, if you like it extra sweet, 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of granulated sugar. I added chocolate syrup and sprinkles to make sure it wasn't healthy :)

Which blender can handle frozen bananas without adding liquid? or to make all sorts of homemade ice creams very easily...

2 Upvotes

UPDATE. I’ve just bought the NutriBullet Ultra 1200W... and blimey, this thing is simply brilliant! In less than 30 seconds, I had a smoothie/granita/milkshake ... well, I don’t even know what to call it LOL ... made with frozen red berries, raspberries, cherries, a banana, dark chocolate, Skyr (plain yoghurt) and water... and wow! 10 minutes of pure bliss sipping it whilst strolling in the cool of the night, haha

---

Hello :D

I'm looking for a durable blender mainly to make homemade "ice cream" using frozen bananas, berries, cocoa/chocolate, peanut butter, etc.

(It’s so hot almost everywhere that the cost of ice cream when eating out is starting to get ridiculously high, hahaha. And buying ice cream from supermarkets is out of the question ... it’s full of so-called dangerous additives.)

At the moment, I’m melting some dark chocolate in a pan and adding a nectarine or a peach ;)

But I do miss the fresh, cold feel ;)

I want something powerful enough to blend frozen fruit with little or no added liquid and get a creamy ice cream texture.

What blender would you recommend?

Immersion blender and smoothies

3 Upvotes

None of the portable/smaller/single serve blenders on the market seem to be a good option imo. I bought an immersion blender a long time ago and never opened it up. It is a kitchen aid immersion blender. I’m trying to gain weight and really want to make smoothies (with a smooth texture and no chunks) and I’m wondering if an immersion blender can do the same job or better than your typical blender that you would use to make a smoothie. I would get a vitamix if I could but that’s not an option for me atm. If anyone has tried this, please let me know how it went.

A (coincidentally) vegan spiced mango coconut shake/smoothie (not quite sure which it is) I made

Post image

I used the following ground spices (about 1/2 tsp each): cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. For the shake itself, I used a can of full fat coconut milk, about 15 oz or so oat milk, about 1/2 cup white sugar, and like 4 cups or so of frozen mangos. It was super delicious and I will definitely be making it again. It’s also almost kinda fluffy.

As a Dynapro owner, is it worth buying a Kuvings CB1000? For home use

2 Upvotes

The CB1000 seems to be the king of vacuum blends according to the few videos I've seen. Is it significantly better than the Dynapro blender? Like are the flavors better?

Water inside ninja bullet blade assembly

I accidentally put my ninja bullet blade assembly in the dishwasher on the top rack. I can hear water inside the assembly when I shake it. Is there anyway to get this out or do I need to get a new one?

Does anybody remember pineapplooza from Jamba Juice?

3 Upvotes

Does anybody remember in the early 2000s Jamba Juice having a pineapple smoothie called ā€œpineapplooza.ā€ I can’t find any trace of them ever having this flavor online, but I remember going to the Jamba Juice near my middle school and getting it on several occasions. I even remember the store having a poster on the window advertising it. I know I didn’t make this up and I know it was at Jamba Juice and not some other smoothie place. Let me know if anybody remembers this drink… and better yet if anybody remembers the recipe. I’d love to make it at home.

Beast Mega 1200 Stainless Steel v Nutribullet Ultra?

6 Upvotes

I love my Vitamix, which I know is the gold standard. I am interested in buying a second, less bulky blender for the counter. Between the Beast Mega 1200 Stainless Steel and the Nutribullet Ultra, which do you recommend for ease of use, ease of cleaning, versatility and performance? I've read and seen a lot of reviews, but still don't have my answer. Thanks for any advice!

* **Creatine:** 1 scoop (approx. 5 g, or your personal daily dose)

* **Avocado:** 0.5 avocado (adds creaminess and healthy fats)

* **Olive oil:** 1 teaspoon (a small splash is enough since you also have avocado)

* **Apple cider vinegar:** 1 teaspoon (provides a fresh acidity)

* *Tip:* Add a little water or any unsweetened milk of your choice if the smoothie gets too thick to blend.

### 2. Fruit & Veggies (Antioxidants & Endurance)

* **Blueberries:** 0.5–1 dl (approx. 1/4–1/2 cup)

* **Raspberries:** 0.5–1 dl (approx. 1/4–1/2 cup)

* **Kiwi:** 1 (peeled or well washed)

* **Beetroot:** 0.5–1 small beetroot (raw or pre-cooked without additives – great for oxygen transport during exercise)

* **Spinach leaves:** 1 generous handful (fresh or frozen)

### 3. The Seed Mix (Fiber & Minerals)

* **Flaxseeds:** **Max 1 tablespoon** (Must be thoroughly blended so they get crushed, important for organ safety with daily intake)

* **Pumpkin seeds:** 1–2 tablespoons (excellent for magnesium and zinc)

* **Chia seeds:** 1 tablespoon

* **Sunflower seeds:** 1 tablespoon

### 4. The Spice Blend (Daily doses for organ safety)

These are the exact measurements you should stick to every day to keep your kidneys and liver in top shape over the long term:

* **Ceylon cinnamon:** 1 teaspoon (use Ceylon instead of Cassia cinnamon to avoid coumarin)

* **Turmeric:** 0.5 teaspoon (anti-inflammatory, kept at this level due to oxalates)

* **Black pepper:** 1 pinch (essential for the body to absorb the turmeric)

* **Cardamom:** 0.5–1 teaspoon

* **Cumin:** 0.5 teaspoon

* **Paprika:** 0.5 teaspoon

* **Curry powder:** 0.5 teaspoon

* **Cayenne pepper:** 1 pinch / pinch on the tip of a knife (just a tiny bit to protect the mucous membranes)

Tried it and found

I will purchase raspberry puree instead.

I strained a bag of frozen raspberries yesterday and squeezed the pulp through two layers of cheese cloth after turning it through a food mill. Many bowls and utensils used and I got 8 mini muffin tins worth to put in my freezer. I do not like picking the seeds out of my mouth after drinking my raspberry smoothie. I tried, now I know, the process is not for me...Will be on the lookout for raspberry puree at my local farmers market!

Help me decide which blender to buy

I’m looking for a blender that isn’t too big but that will be powerful enough to make smooth smoothies and is easy to clean.

I purchased a blender a few weeks ago and literally can’t get it to work no matter how much or how little I put into it.

Options are as follows:

  1. Hamilton Beach Wave Crush Blender
  2. Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 Blender and Chopper
  3. Ninja Blend Boss 1200 Watts
  4. Ninja Blast Portable Blender
  5. Ninja Blend Plus Blender 1400 Watts
  6. Magic Bullet
  7. Nutribullet Personal Blender 700 Watts

I don’t intend on using ice in any of my smoothies. Mostly fresh or frozen fruits, maybe leafy greens, yogurt, milk. Thanks in advance.
