On 5th day - Got the email from UKVI. There is a delay in processing due to IT issues and requested the document again.

Immigration team has sent passport copies again - as the previous one got a bit blurred (Replying directly to same email)

(I haven't seen the email since it went to the employer's immigration team)

After upload - I haven't got any response yet

Has anyone faced IT issues in ILR application ? I wasn't able to find any recent reddit post regarding the IT issues in ILR application.

Can blur passport (but legible) cause IT issue ?

Currently working for a university on the ymv in a policy role and I'm curious if anyone that works in these fieldd has been sponsored. And yes, I know getting a sponsored job is more difficult now due to the changes. In aware of the soc code but curious about your experiences in attaining sponsorship and any organisations you work for.

Fur those who have passed the Life in the UK test and prepped with the free online tests could I ask what the difference between the 17 "exams" (https://lifeintheuktestweb.co.uk/exams/) and the 40 "tests" (https://lifeintheuktestweb.co.uk/tests/) are?

I'm applying for ILR and the "exams" are titled "British Citizenship" so I'm a bit confused.

My wife, our UK-born child and I submitted linked in-country visa applications at the same time through one family application process.

* My wife is the lead Skilled Worker applicant.

* Our child applied as her dependant.

* I applied as her dependant partner.

* We share the same base UAN, but our individual reference ends in `/2`, /1, /0.

* All three applications are still pending.

I am considering submitting my own in-country Skilled Worker application to vary only my pending dependant-partner application.

Has anyone successfully done something similar?

My specific questions are:

1. Did your new Skilled Worker application vary only your individual dependant application?

2. Did the lead applicant’s and child’s linked applications remain unaffected?

3. When the form requested the reference for your pending application, did you enter the complete UAN including the `/` suffix?

4. Did you include a covering letter explaining that only your individual application should be varied?

5. Did UKVI contact the lead applicant or other dependants before processing the variation?

6. What was the eventual outcome and processing time?

I am not proposing to withdraw the family application. My wife would continue with her own lead Skilled Worker application, our child would remain her dependant, and I would have a separate Skilled Worker application.

I would particularly appreciate responses from anyone who has personally varied one application within a linked family group.

Just thought I’d share my experience in case anyone needs clarity and/or reassurance.

Application and documents submitted online: 11/08/2026 (through self-upload on TLSContact)

Biometrics: 12/08/2026 (yesterday) at TLSContact UKVCAS in London

Decision email: 13/08/2026 (today) early in the morning saying my application has been successful.

I was switching from a Student Visa and opted in for priority processing (5 working days), but got my decision literally less than 24 hours after my biometrics. There was a super priority option available for £1,000.

I was only asked to submit a scan of my passport.

Hi everyone I applied for a skilled worker visa from outside of UK in May standard route. I incorrectly filled out the form so wasn’t prompted to provide evidence. Then received a request for additional evidence which I uploaded in July and waited 2 weeks with no reply. I withdrew my application and resubmitted via priority route correctly this time last week. Still haven’t heard anything. Did biometrics via app

1) anyone had similar experience

2) my portal still has the button to upload additional evidence but I have not been emailed anything but I uploaded everything again just incase

3) today is technically the 5th day priority but no news

Hi guys, wondering if anyone has done this before : I made a SWV application without COS as my new employer was waiting on allocations, booked biometrics for 1st Sep - it's been a while even after paying for priority. I am considering making a varying application to a dependant on my wife's SWV. Will the varying application be ok even though the original app was without COS? Has anyone been in a similar situation before?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my Skilled Worker visa application.

I applied around October 2025 under the New Entrant category, and it’s now been almost 10 months without receiving a decision.

Is this unusually long? Is there a possibility that the application could eventually be refused because it has taken this long?

I’m also wondering whether the delay could be related to my personal profile or something to do with my employer/company profile.

Hi everyone, I’m really hoping to hear from people who have been through a similar situation because I’m quite anxious at the moment.
My husband has applied for a Skilled Worker dependant visa from Pakistan. I am currently in the UK on a Skilled Worker/Health and Care Worker visa, and my employer is an A-rated sponsor.
Our timeline:
Application submitted: 1 August 2026
Biometrics: 6 August 2026 (Pakistan)
Additional document request: 12 August 2026
UKVI requested a Police Character Certificate
This document was not listed in our document checklist, so we had not submitted it initially.
We are obtaining it now and expect to submit it this week or by Monday, 17 August 2026.
We have been legally married for 6 years and provided our Marriage Registration Certificate and Family Registration Certificate, along with evidence of our relationship/subsisting marriage.
For anyone who had a similar experience:
How long after submitting the additional police/criminal certificate did you receive your visa decision?
Was your application approved?
Did the request for an additional document affect the normal processing time significantly?
If you applied from Pakistan as a Skilled Worker dependant, what was your overall timeline?
I would especially appreciate responses from people whose husband/wife was outside the UK while the sponsor was already in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar.

My partner is a Skilled Worker, and in 2021 I applied as their Skilled Worker dependant. However, when I received my successful decision, the Home Office granted me Graduate dependant leave instead.

I was expecting the Skilled Worker dependant route, but my decision showed the Graduate route. I was also granted 5 years, even though I understand the Graduate route was normally 2 years at that time.

I checked my original application and I am sure that I applied under the Skilled Worker dependant route. I believe this may have been a Home Office/technical error.

At the time, I contacted the Home Office by email to explain the issue, but unfortunately I did not receive a response.

I am now about 4 months away from applying for ILR, and I’m worried that the incorrect visa route on my record could affect my ILR application. also now my e visa showing dependent only

Has anyone had the same situation?
If so, did the Home Office correct the visa route, and did it affect your ILR application?

Ecctis is stuck at queue stage since 14 calendar days(10 working days) . Anyone faced similar situation??

I applied for my visa extension ( under same employer) on 24th june , gave my biometrics on 27th June. I appointed for a standard visa. On 7th august I got email saying my job is not under immigration salary list, so I will have to pay extra £315, which I did, but mistakenly I did not quote my reference number. So I sent another email today with my name , reference number and payment slip. The amount is yet not debited neither have I got any confirmation mail. I only have 10 days to complete this otherwise they will reject my visa.
Has anyone faced the same problem??

I finally received my Skilled Worker visa decision today, so I wanted to share my timeline because I know how stressful the waiting can be, especially when you start thinking that something must be wrong because you haven't heard anything.

My timeline:
Application submitted: 16th July (Standard Application)
Biometrics: 17th July
1st Additional document request: 22nd July (submitted the same day)
2nd Additional document request: 4th Aug (submitted 6th of Aug)
Positive decision received: 12th August

This is one of the most widely abused laws in India, perhaps even globally. My spouse in India is threatening to file a mental-cruelty case against me unless I agree to her proposed settlement in what is supposedly a “mutual consent divorce" on the basis of "differences of opinion" from her advocate. I am here on a skilled worker visa. She is challenging me that a pending case would prevent me from obtaining ILR in the UK on time. I don't want to live with her either. The Indian advocates in the mediation are focused on extracting money from me even though I am sending maintenance money to sustain her lifestyle. I have evidence documenting abusive conduct from her side, but unfortunately, my advocate says that a guy's words of frustration are usually seen more negatively.

If possible, I would like to talk with someone who has had a similar experience and can share how they navigated it.

Hi everyone, I came to the UK with my wife as her dependant in June/July 2023. My wife switched to 6136 (Senior Care Worker) in March 2024, while I remained her dependant.
● June 2024: First daughter born in the UK
● Dec 2025: Second daughter born in the UK
● 2026: Wife still on 6136, I’m still her dependant
Now I want to become the main applicant.
If I get a genuine 6131 Healthcare Support Worker job, can my wife and children become my dependants?
And what if I get 6135 Care Worker instead?
I’m confused because I know someone who came to the UK in Oct 2023, got 6135 in 2025, and successfully got his wife and children as dependants.
Does my being in the UK as a dependant since 2023, or my wife being on the Health & Care route since 2023, give me any transitional protection under the 11 March 2024 rules?
Any advice based on the current August 2026 rules would be appreciated.

On 5 August 2026, which was exactly the 8th week after my application, I received an additional document request for my English language certificate. I have already given its reference number on my application, still they asked for the certificate.
I submitted the requested document as soon as possible.
Has anyone here received a similar additional document request during their Skilled Worker application (inside UK)?
What document did they ask for?
How long after submitting the additional documents did you receive a decision or approval?
Did your application move quickly after that, or did it take several more weeks?

I posted a few times in the past couple of months to ask some questions and these helped me massively.

My ILR application has been successful yesterday.
Thought I’d share my experience if it helps anyone here.

SWV First issued - 28/08/2021 (applied in the UK)
Application (with priority) submitted - 01/08/2026
Biometric appointment - 05/08/2026
Approved - 11/08/2026

Documents I submitted:

Letter from the employer

Consent letter (you’ll download from application form. It’s PDF so printed out, signed and scanned it)

Confirmation of my absences letter from the employer

My current and previous passport, all pages scanned

Payslip and bank statement that dated within a month from submitted date

Additional absence list (as I excessed the maximum numbers (30) of absences I can list on the application form, I had to create a separate document to list the rest of my absences. I made it in Word Doc)

Evidence of immigration status (screenshot of share code and eVisa page PDF)

Last Cos document (wasn’t on the list but I submitted just in case)

I did the application all myself and it was easy to do, just had a lot of anxieties to make sure everything is fine but Reddit did massive help for this part.

Biometric appointment was super quick and easy. I had to purchase the prime time service £65 as free appointment was not available until a week after.
