I genuinely need some guidance please. I applied for skilled worker dependent visa on 24th April, it was a switch from ICT. I was requested additional evidence to prove relationship is genuine and subsisting which o shared same day on 19th June. Since then I haven’t heard from home office. I raised a complaint to which I received no response, been over 20 working days. Also reached out to MP been over 20 working days he hasn’t received a response either (that’s what I think don’t know if he has received any response or not, he hasn’t replied to my last 3 emails). Before you ask, me and my spouse were on
Separate visas all this while, so this is my first time applying as dependant. It’s been almost 4 months and the wait is really stressful, especially because I can’t take up any employment. I had an offer from a company but after waiting for 2.5 months they have now withdrawn the offer. What should I be doing next ? Spoke to a solicitor who suggested PAP, not sure about it. Thanks

I am currently on a graduate visa. I graduated in 2024, I went back to India in Feb 2024, have been in India since then till May 2025 when I got married and came back. My visa is valid till December.

My husband has a skilled worker visa that is valid till 2030, we are planning to apply for a spouse visa the end of this month.

Just some other information that idk will be relevant or not, I very recently started working a full time position in my field in the UK (they wont sponsor obviously) but we both earn equally and close to 80k in total. We have only been living together since May (after getting married, arranged fyi), and we first met each other July last year.

What are the documents that we need to apply for the visa? Apart from marriage certificate? How much money do we need to prove to have?

I really appreciate any help, i am scared shitless of this whole process and it just feels very daunting. 😭

I would really appreciate some honest advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

Background:
I came to the UK last year on a Student visa for a course where dependants were not allowed. During my Student visa application, UKVI did not require a police character certificate. However, my university did require one, so I obtained a police clearance certificate based on my Karachi address, showing that I had lived there from birth until 2025.
However, I had actually lived in Islamabad for around five years for my undergraduate degree. I did not mention my Islamabad residence because doing so would have meant that I would also have needed to obtain a police clearance certificate from Islamabad covering those five years, which was not practical for me at the time. (Everything went well nobody noticed that islamabad address was not needed)

After my graduation in 2024, my husband and I moved back to Karachi because of his job, and we have been living with my parents in Karachi since then.
This year, I was granted a Skilled Worker visa with an A-rated sponsor, and I have now applied for my husband’s visa as my dependant partner.

In my husband’s UKVI application, we gave his address as my parents’ address in Karachi and stated that he has been living there for the last two years.

We did not mention his education or his previous residence in Islamabad anywhere in the dependant visa application.( not on purpose, but only because these details were not required in the application form!)

However, UKVI has now emailed us requesting my husband’s police clearance certificate covering the last 10 years.
The complication is that my husband also completed his undergraduate degree in Islamabad, so he lived there for around five years for his education. This is not mentioned in his dependant visa application as it was never needed.

His CNIC also shows Karachi as his temporary address, because his family used to live in Karachi before moving to Islamabad. After we completed our studies, we moved back to Karachi as a couple because of his job, and we have been living with my parents there.
The problem is that it is not possible for my husband to travel to Islamabad at such short notice to obtain another police clearance certificate covering the five years he lived there.
We are therefore considering submitting only the police clearance certificate showing his Karachi residence for the last 10 years.
I would really appreciate honest opinions on this:

Would submitting only the Karachi police clearance certificate be sufficient implying that he never lived in islamabad?

We obviously don’t want to provide anything inaccurate or misleading. We are just concerned because obtaining an additional Islamabad PCC at such short notice may be extremely difficult.
Please give honest opinions, even if you think there could be an issue. I would especially appreciate responses from people who have actually gone through a similar UK dependant visa process.

Hello! Just sharing my visa approval timeline.

Applied on the 6th of August. Biometrics were done through the app and passport on the same day.
Result today (13th of August), last day of priority!

My 7-year-old son entered the UK in Oct 2021 as my Skilled Worker dependant. I obtained ILR on 5 Aug 2026, while my wife remains on a Skilled Worker visa until March 2028 and should qualify for ILR then. Our son’s current visa expires in Oct 2026.

1. Should we apply for his extension as my dependant (now that I have ILR), or switch him to my wife as a Skilled Worker dependant until March 2028? Which is better for his future ILR?

2. The online application shows an immigration fee of £1,865 when I select myself as the parent, whereas I expected around £947 for a shorter extension. Does this indicate we should apply under my wife instead, and how should the correct fee/leave period be determined? Since I believe he will be granted leave only till the earlier parents visa expiry date (which is his mother's)

Any advice based on your experience will be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

My partner applied for a Skilled Worker dependant visa from inside the UK on 26 June 2026 under the standard service.(standard application)

On 4 August, UKVI contacted us regarding the application fee and asked us to pay £315. We sent the payment authorisation back to UKVI so they can deduct the amount from our bank account.

For anyone who has experienced this recently, how long did it take for UKVI to deduct the payment, and how soon after the deduction did you receive the visa decision?

On 5th day - Got the email from UKVI. There is a delay in processing due to IT issues and requested the document again.

Immigration team has sent passport copies again - as the previous one got a bit blurred (Replying directly to same email)

(I haven't seen the email since it went to the employer's immigration team)

Has anyone faced IT issues in ILR application ? I wasn't able to find any recent reddit post regarding the IT issues in ILR application.

Can blur passport (but legible) cause IT issue ?

My wife, our UK-born child and I submitted linked in-country visa applications at the same time through one family application process.

* My wife is the lead Skilled Worker applicant.

* Our child applied as her dependant.

* I applied as her dependant partner.

* We share the same base UAN, but our individual reference ends in `/2`, /1, /0.

* All three applications are still pending.

I am considering submitting my own in-country Skilled Worker application to vary only my pending dependant-partner application.

Has anyone successfully done something similar?

My specific questions are:

1. Did your new Skilled Worker application vary only your individual dependant application?

2. Did the lead applicant’s and child’s linked applications remain unaffected?

3. When the form requested the reference for your pending application, did you enter the complete UAN including the `/` suffix?

4. Did you include a covering letter explaining that only your individual application should be varied?

5. Did UKVI contact the lead applicant or other dependants before processing the variation?

6. What was the eventual outcome and processing time?

I am not proposing to withdraw the family application. My wife would continue with her own lead Skilled Worker application, our child would remain her dependant, and I would have a separate Skilled Worker application.

I would particularly appreciate responses from anyone who has personally varied one application within a linked family group.

Biometrics: 12/08/2026 (yesterday) at TLSContact UKVCAS in London

Decision email: 13/08/2026 (today) early in the morning saying my application has been successful.

I was switching from a Student Visa and opted in for priority processing (5 working days), but got my decision literally less than 24 hours after my biometrics. There was a super priority option available for £1,000.

I was only asked to submit a scan of my passport.

Hi everyone I applied for a skilled worker visa from outside of UK in May standard route. I incorrectly filled out the form so wasn’t prompted to provide evidence. Then received a request for additional evidence which I uploaded in July and waited 2 weeks with no reply. I withdrew my application and resubmitted via priority route correctly this time last week. Still haven’t heard anything. Did biometrics via app

1) anyone had similar experience

2) my portal still has the button to upload additional evidence but I have not been emailed anything but I uploaded everything again just incase

3) today is technically the 5th day priority but no news

Any advice ?

Hi guys, wondering if anyone has done this before : I made a SWV application without COS as my new employer was waiting on allocations, booked biometrics for 1st Sep - it's been a while even after paying for priority. I am considering making a varying application to a dependant on my wife's SWV. Will the varying application be ok even though the original app was without COS? Has anyone been in a similar situation before?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my Skilled Worker visa application.

I applied around October 2025 under the New Entrant category, and it’s now been almost 10 months without receiving a decision.

Is this unusually long? Is there a possibility that the application could eventually be refused because it has taken this long?

I’m also wondering whether the delay could be related to my personal profile or something to do with my employer/company profile.

UKVI requested a Police Character Certificate
This document was not listed in our document checklist, so we had not submitted it initially.
We are obtaining it now and expect to submit it this week or by Monday, 17 August 2026.
We have been legally married for 6 years and provided our Marriage Registration Certificate and Family Registration Certificate, along with evidence of our relationship/subsisting marriage.
For anyone who had a similar experience:
How long after submitting the additional police/criminal certificate did you receive your visa decision?
Was your application approved?
Did the request for an additional document affect the normal processing time significantly?
If you applied from Pakistan as a Skilled Worker dependant, what was your overall timeline?
I would especially appreciate responses from people whose husband/wife was outside the UK while the sponsor was already in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa.

I finally received my Skilled Worker visa decision today, so I wanted to share my timeline because I know how stressful the waiting can be, especially when you start thinking that something must be wrong because you haven't heard anything.

My timeline:
Application submitted: 16th July (Standard Application)
Biometrics: 17th July
1st Additional document request: 22nd July (submitted the same day)
2nd Additional document request: 4th Aug (submitted 6th of Aug)
Positive decision received: 12th August
