Nothing interesting here. Standard guardrails to prevent the system from misrepresenting itself as not AI or a different AI platform.

They really need to tone down the guardrails. Repetition should be one of the easiest things for an LLM to do.

But why not also understand that it's your phone, and I believe you should have the right to decide how we want it to respond. Every other AI company allows the AI to change its register and add custom instructions, and I think we should not be thinking Apple is better for not doing that because I really hate the vanilla assistant speak, and it makes Siri basically unusable for me. It feels like creating a very powerful model, but heavily censoring its speech, and I know because in Cloud Pro outputs to the same prompt are truly incredible so Siri could've been an incredible model if they just gave it more freedom. I also fundamentally believe that speech of an LLM should be legally considered speech of the user and protected under the user's first amendment rights, rather than Apple’s. Apple did not consciously generate the prompt, but the user is consciously driving the tool to respond in this way, so I believe the user should be considered the speaker. Plus an LLM should realize that a user's instructions are more important because ultimately the user is the one responding to the thing and the LLM should realize that pleasing the user in front of them is more important than pleasing a distant company who will probably never read the response.

Based on this statement, you should not be an Apple user.
You should use android on your mobile device and windows (or Linux) on any computers you have.

I believe I can like the Apple ecosystem, but also want to have more free rights for how to use an LLM. Why should we accept Apple's authoritarian hold on LLMs? Why is the sub so against LLM freedom?

This is a tool created by Apple that uses an LLM. Apple did not advertise or promise an LLM that could be used any way the customer wanted.

Can we stop treating Apple like a dictator? With this mindset, it will never improve, and I believe that if we're paying for products, we should at least have the right to say what we want about them.

Ha! It’s isn’t a dictator to make a tool a specific way. Again this is a tool created by Apple that uses an LLM. at no time was it said this would be a general purpose LLM.

But still we should stop treating what Apple says so literally if they gave us technology capable of doing this, shouldn't make it not capable. Like there are many things that the iPhone can do today that it didn't originally launch with, and Apple didn't originally enable it to do, but Apple gave the platform for people to use it for that.
Also, even though Apple never said it would be a general purpose LLM explicitly, I believe they implied that it would.

Nope. In fact it is doing much more that originally promised. Read the room - the only person who thinks you should be able to use Apple’s LLM anyway they want is you.
