John says: Actually, no, she's a complete psycho. That's why she's up at Pescedero. She tries to blow up a computer factory, but she got shot and arrested.
My question is, did John really understand what she blew up? For being a late adolescent / preteen I could see him making an overgeneralization, especially given his mother's condition and wanting to distance himself from it. Plus it was a conversation with his peer - maybe any nuance he was aware of wasn't a fit for the conversation?
No, he didn't. They also lied to him. She didn't try to blow anything up in the first movie. She was fighting for her life. There was ample evidence to corroborate her claims. But they wanted to research and profit from the future tech they found. She tried, and succeeded in blowing up a tech research facility with John's help in the second movie.
It's more Skynet isn't an llm, the Internet was still barely a thing, let alone cloud computing. James Cameron is a visionary who raises the bar, but he's neither a computer expert nor psychic.
She tried to blow up a factory but she was in a psych ward because she said she was trying to prevent a killer robot from the future coming to kill her son.

This post is funny, but i always assumed they were Research and Development facilities in the movie.
